30 small plants and 13 larger plants for $56!
    Yesenia H.

Wow! This place is amazing! Read the reviews so I thought I knew what to expect but was blown away by the selection! I went on a Monday afternoon so it wasn't very busy. The green house is hot! I went in a hoodie and regretted it as soon as I walked in. Totally worth it though! I ended up buying 30 small succulents and 13 of the larger plants and spent about $57! The owner even let me have some clippings I found on the ground not in a pot. I love succulents and will definitely return! They also have flowers and other types of plants.

We stopped by based off the hours they have listed and this business is out of business. Called the number listed and they confirmed.

We hoard tons of succulents from Ortega Nursery.

Altho the drive is a bit far 50min fr south sj, the trip was well worth it. To all the succulents luver, limit urself to how much cash you gonna bring bc if you bring alot u gonna end up using it all. I had a few hundreds with me and i nearly use all my cash. This place has so many varieties and if ur lucky u might run into a few rare succulents to add to your collections. They have 2" $1 and 4" $2, hanging pot $9-10+. Dun forget to grab some compost and fertilizer $3 (decent size) on ur way out. For payment cash or Zelle/Venmo. I left behide my beautiful giant PVN $10 pot. Will be back for that baby sometime soon.

BEST PRICES IN THE BAY AREA! My sister wanted to bring my kiddo and I to visit this nursery so she called ahead to make sure they were open on a Sunday and that children were allowed (I've been to a nursery where children weren't allowed). It was open and they welcomed children so we headed that way. On our way to the entrance there were a lot of residential homes. I wasn't sure if it would be in a house but at the very corner there it was the entrance to the nursery. You have to slow down as you get close because the exit is easy to miss and it's a dirt road. There's no marked parking so you have to find a spot and not block the cars. The parking lot is small but we found a spot parked and walked in. As you enter you are greeted by a Rooster in a cage making all kinds of ruckus. There's a lady sitting out front talking to customers. There were a lot of signs asking customers to not remove large plants and place them in smaller pots. It's unfortunate this happens here as this nursery already offers a great deal. I found some snake plants but they weren't very healthy. I did find one that looked better than the rest and added it to the plants I was going to buy. I kept seeing people with trays and couldn't find any so I only bought what I could hold in my hands. I asked for help from a gentleman on a specific succulent but they didn't have it. My kiddo found several succulents to add to the personal collection. If it was up to my kiddo a whole tray of succulents would have gone home with us. After making our way around the entire nursery which only felt like a couple minutes but really it was about an hour we made our way to the front to pay. I wasn't sure where to pay but a man approached us and led us to the woman out front. She accepts Venmo and has the code to scan (just ask her for it). After speaking with her she let me know she was the owner. It's a Mexican-owned nursery which was pretty cool because I haven't found any Mexican-owned nurseries in the entire Bay Area. This nursery has a large inventory of plants mostly succulents. You may find a popular houseplant here or there but succulents take center stage here. The prices at this nursery are unbeatable! That being said, don't ask for a "discount". You are already purchasing the lowest price available in the Bay Area. I have paid up to $8 for a plant I found here for $1. Check them out and support your local nursery!

Wow. There is a great selection of succulents and at a great price. I'm making succulent wreaths and need quite a bit so I made my way here after hearing about Watsonville nurseries. It didn't disappoint. The price is per container size. Be careful in the green house. Aisles are narrow, floor can be muddy and there are lots of things to hit your head on. Mrs. Ortega (owner) rung us up at the end of our adventure! She was very nice and helpful I would come here more often but it is quite far

Could not be more obsessed with this place!! I've been going to nurseries everywhere from Castroville to San Martin and everything in between for months now, and I finally made my way to this one. Aaaaaahhhhh!!! When I tell you the selection is freakin amazing, I mean that! Then... you stumble upon the price, and be ready cause you're literally gonna have to pick your jaw up from the ground! If you see a crazy plant lady sprinting through there, grabbing all the succulents in sight, mind ya business that's just me again

We love Ortega's! Succulent lovers dream! The owners are incredibly nice and super helpful! We can come and spend hours here and leave with quite of bit of beauties!!

This nursery is absolutely worth the drive. Everything is so cheap here. I was overwhelmed with the amount of succulents they have. Wearing comfortable shoes and bring cash or Venmo. Will come back again.

Everything I have heard about this place is true! It's a treasure! The layout is kind of confusing but you just have to dive in. Many beautiful flowering plants, succulents, geraniums, etc. Prices can not be beat!! I got a bunch of plants for work and of course a few for myself! These 2 beauties only cost $12.00 each!! They're 5 gallon! Same plant ANY where else would be 3x that!! I can't believe he has been there 19 years?!?! Well the word is getting out now!! Come dressed to get dirty and have a good time!

Brought my best friend here for our last day together before she left for grad school. As incredible as always. Glad to see it's popping- this nursery deserves it! TIPS & TRICKS: -Wear pants and close-toed shoes -Bring some snacks & water. A full lap takes a few hours -If you're not familiar with the area, take a look at a map before you go- you may lose cell service closer to the nursery -CASH ONLY -They also sell nursery pots- just ask!

These two trays of 25 pots costed 50 dollars . No way u can find these deals in retail stores

It is my first visit to this nursery; my impression is positive . They have a lot of succulents and live plants . I find that 2 dollars pot is far more value than 1 dollar pot in term of size . U must spending a lot of time to look for good healthy pots . Location is easy to find and parking is limited . Recommended to go during weekday, no crowd and traffic .

It's a bit of a drive from where I live, but totally worth it. Pricing is pretty awesome ($1 for 2" succulents).

You cannot beat the price- ANYWHERE in the Bay Area! This place was GIGANTIC. Appeared to be family owned- tho I didn't ask. The people were nice. The nursery sits at the end of a road in a neighborhood. As you walk in, there is a right side and a left side. Both side easily have 10 or more platform rows of tons of succulents and cacti. I didn't make it down every row. They also had hydrangeas and other plants. I feel like the right side had more developed and larger plants than the left side. You can literally spend hours in there looking at stuff. I noticed they also had cuttings that looked like they were for sale as well. Plants sold for $1, $2, and $5 - for big flowering plants. But prices are not marked. I'd imagine it would be difficult to do in that volume. They didn't really have a "parking lot" but you can drive near the entrance and park in the dirt. There is also parking in the street. Dress cool- it gets warm underneath the tarps. Don't where anything you don't want to get snagged. Some of the pathways are tight. Recommendations- I knew a lot of the names of the plants because I do collect succulents. But, it would be beneficial for the guests for the nursery to name the plants within a section for people to know. Also, it would be nice to have the plants in various locations or pot sizes marked with a sign nearby indicating the cost of the plants in that section. Lastly, they take cash and Venmo only, so come prepared. I bought 14 plants- $21 total.

I submitted a scratch test report and had a very short response, I had then requested to speak to the supervisor. The response I originally received was very disheartening to me as I felt I was being dismissed, not given a chance to plead my case, however after talking to the co owner, I feel differently. He was so kind and it was truly a safe space to talk to him openly and honestly about the entire experience, give feedback. He was kind, respectful, understanding and supportive. We came to a very fair solution. For that I will continue recommending four winds growers, I will continue purchasing from them. The quality of their customer service is what differentiates them from their competitors. We hit a bump in the road and they showed up and helped make me feel seen and valued. Thank you four winds. Looking back, I understand why I had received a short response, it was a Friday and the employee was probably just trying to close up and get through all emails. I'm thankful I requested to speak to a supervisor and I'm happy to know she was honest and put me through. A PSA to everyone: always speak up, advocate for yourself because no one else will. People won't always know what is wrong unless you speak up. But that isn't permission to be aggressive and mean, it just means it's ok to ask for help. They have all kinds of fun gifts and trinkets for the garden and around the house! I wrote a nice review about this place after the first time I went several years ago, but it undoubtedly deserves an update. I have been several times since my first visit, and love it every time! The owner, Gustavo, is a true gem. He is friendly, knowledgeable, hardworking, and an overall joy to interact with. He greets everyone with a huge smile, and is always happy to answer questions and help. He works seven days a week most weeks, and is truly passionate about what he does.
