I made an appointment with OrthoArkansas on Tuesday for an MRI Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. When I scheduled it, I specifically asked for the address because I needed to know where I was going. I was told, "Don't worry about it, you'll get a text." Well, I never got that text. The only message I received was about my follow-up appointment. By the time I realized Tuesday evening that I still had no idea where my 7 a.m. MRI was, it was after 5 p.m. I called, but everything was closed and Ortho Urgent Care wasn't answering their phone. I had already left work and driven home, but ended up getting back in my car and driving to an Ortho Urgent Care location just so someone could tell me where I was supposed to go the next morning. Maybe if someone had answered the phone, I wouldn't have had to spend my evening driving around town trying to find out where my own appointment was. When I got there, the woman I spoke with acted like it was a huge inconvenience for me to ask for the information about my own appointment. I wasn't asking for anything complicated--I literally just needed to know where I was supposed to show up at 7 a.m. because the information I was told would be sent to me never was. I finally get home, set my alarm for 6:15 a.m., and go to bed. When I woke up at 6:15 a.m., I discovered they had sent me a text at 5:30 a.m. saying I needed to arrive 30 minutes before my 7 a.m. appointment. Apparently I was supposed to receive this rather important information while I was asleep. So now I'm rushing. I get to the address, realize it doesn't look like the location I had seen online, call, and discover GPS has taken me to the wrong place. I finally make it to the correct location, already stressed from this entire scavenger hunt, only to be greeted with more attitude at the front desk. I was handed paperwork on a clipboard. My hands were already full with my wallet, keys, sunglasses, and phone. The receptionist told me to take the paper but give her back the clipboard and pen. I set the clipboard and pen on the desk, and she stood there with her hand raised, apparently expecting me to physically hand them to her. At that point, I couldn't help thinking: Wouldn't it have been easier to just take the clipboard, pen, and paper, remove the paper yourself, and hand it back to me? Or just let me hand you the clipboard when I was done? Minus the attitude. The MRI itself wasn't the problem. The communication and customer service leading up to it were unnecessarily frustrating. If you schedule someone for a 7 a.m. appointment, they should not have to drive around town the night before trying to figure out where they're supposed to go, be made to feel like an inconvenience for asking, and then receive important arrival instructions at 5:30 a.m. the morning of the appointment. A little clear communication--and a little kindness--would have made this an entirely different experience. read more

Once again not being seen at the appointment time and left waiting and waiting and waiting. A five minute visit is an all day affair. Poorly run clinic. It's not about patient care, it's about how many patients you can possibly squeeze into one day. read more

Andrew Gunther Cain will not treat your pain. He will try repeatedly to sell you an electroshock device, even though you tell him -- repeatedly -- that you are not interested; he won't give you time to answer that you have religious objections to what he's pushing. He'll shove a sales pamphlet at you when you leave, still in pain. BAD ATTITUDE: This man is the rudest, cockiest clinician you'll ever meet. Surgeons such as he often think of themselves as miracle workers, but they are not: Anyone whose daddy has enough money can be trained to do his job. OUTDATED: His approach to patient care is 30 years out of date, as is the technology he describes as "cutting edge." He will interrupt as you are speaking; he is dismissive of your concerns; he shamed me for asking for medication (the simplest, most cost-effective solution); he has underdeveloped social skills and terrible bedside manner. His mullet did not impress me, either. NOT WORTH IT: I waited two weeks to get in; spent two hours in drive time and $20 in gas; waited over an hour to see him; then was given a hard salespitch for an expensive gadget that requires electrodes be inserted in my body and only works in 70 percent of patients, according to the sales pamphlet. ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS: The appointment with him was an absolute waste of time, money and patience. The amount of disrespect OrthoArkansas shows for customers time is atrocious. If I treated my customers the way they treat theirs I would be unemployed yet this is what they find acceptable. 45 minutes late, if I were 45 minutes late they would not see me. The Doctor or nurse failed to inform before or after the surgery about a tourniquet and what to expect; My leg turned black the next day. I called the nurse, she said ' they don't tell people that because they may change there mind on the surgery' (No Joke). I had to have yet ANOTHER paid consult to confirm I didn't have deep vein Thrombosis. At the end after "paid in full" they had some surprise bills for me in the Mail. They charge for every little thing, even consults like they are full blown examinations. I demanded an itemized statement after paying and paying and paying. I don't plan on using them again and will tell all my friends to avoid OrthoArkansas. They don't inform you of any of the costs upfront which to me is just dishonest. read more

First, having poor IT support & surveys that won't load & a front desk employee who doesn't care - apparently IT issue is common! I haven't even had surgery yet, which I need. Dr. Newbern seems to care, but it takes so much to get to see him... and it seems that nobody else in the place seems to care about the patients, except the doctors... who it's difficult to get to. If you have a 10 am appointment, take the day off work, and take lunch. You might possibly get seen by 3. The wait time seems to be a minimum of 3 hours, even if you show up way early. At this point, I'm considering changing doctors, so I can get meds when I need them, and get seen by a doctor when I have an appointment. One time I had a mid-morning appointment, and wasn't seen until after 4:30 pm. There is very little respect for their patients. The only reason I've stayed has been that I've heard good things about Dr. Newbern. Otherwise, I'd be gone to another doctor. read more

Absolutely awful. Wait time was over an hour past appointment each time. Every single employee that I talked to from nurse to front desk, medical records and finance was absolutely RUDE. Got an attitude with me when I asked them why they were trying to charge me the same copay twice. Dr. Siems would not listen to me and changed what he said everytime i saw him and each visit was rushed like he didn't have time for it.I left there feeling more confused each time. The office experience was horrible fair park did they part about sending me appt message a couple time, but the lady at the mri desk really need to be spoken with on professionalism she didnt seen the apt time until after we went to fair part then when I get here she send the appointment you sitting behind the desk so why you can't do your job and be detailed that's what they pay you for! It's a mixed bag of what are you willing to tolerate.while I've had great experience with the doctors other areas need serious work.it takes awhile for anyone to answer the phones when I call.next the payment system is horrible.ive been locked out of my portal so I can't access any of my medical information because I owe $145.im disabled and widowed.thats alot of money right now.i wasn't offered anyway to split to payment in half(which would have worked for me) I have severe back problems.its so bad it feels like I'm walking in water with my lower back and my legs are going numb now.i can't even reach my doctor to tell them that.i understand bills have to be paid but this is a true testament of money comes first. read more

This review is for their office at Landers Rd in NLR and specifically address their handicapped parking spaces. I have had various ortho related issues and have seen various doctors in various states. This location has by far not only the least number but they have given priority to non handicapped spaces. Practically all spaces in front of the entrance are not for the handicapped. The latter are located all over the parking lot and not in a group. I saw a considerable distance from the door. I did mention this issue to one of the receptionist who instead of being sympathetic argue with me and told me there is A SPACE facing the building (all in front are regular spaces). I for one will be voting with my feet and see other orthopedic doctor next time I need one. read more

I saw Dr P Allen Smith after a severe fall. He was rude insulting and I would never recommend him to anyone.

I had a tendon repair in December and everything has been going great since. Dr. Ardoin did a fantastic job. I also got some great scar cream that has really helped with the appearance and tenderness of my scar. read more

This in particular has to do with OrthoArkansas Urgent Care. Entered at 2:30 PM , didn't get seen until 4:10PM in waiting room of 5 patients. Took X-rays and then was given a prescription that I was told wouldn't be sent until the next morning. Keep in mind I can barely walk and am in serious pan. I need to walk to make a living. Nothing "urgent" about this group. Seen by a nurse practitioner who interrupted my questions and was in a hurry to get out to his station to talk into his dictaphone. Had to get his paperwork done before five- sorry patient. He is on his way to being a doctor with that attitude. Great experiences with a couple of doctors at Ortho but won't be going back to urgent care there. read more

This has been my first experience with OrthoArkansas, but it will definitely not be my last. I started seeing Dr Jason Smith on January 3, 2024 for my lumbar spine issues, which culminated in Dr Smith performing an L1-L5 lumbar laminectomy and a L5 bilateral discectomy. During my time with Dr Smith, he demonstrated exceptional professionalism and expertise while still taking time to spend appropriate time with me to thoroughly explain my upcoming procedure clearly and concisely while being friendly and unhurried. During my surgery, Dr Smith had to make a last-minute decision to do extra work on my lumbar spine for a better outcome. I wholeheartedly agree with his decision! My pre-surgical lumbar spine problems are completely resolved now, and I am recovering well. I look forward to seeing Dr Smith on March 19, 2024 for my follow-up appointment. I highly recommend Dr Jason Smith and OrthoArkansas for your spinal issues. read more

I have bee seen by Dr Tucker who also did surgery in 2016 on my shoulder. He is excellent. Have regained full use after a torn biceps and rotator cuff at 63 yrs old. I am also seeing Dr. Brent Walker since Aug 2022 for pain management associated with my spine. He has amazing compassionate bedside manners and an understanding of the problem as well as taking a very long time to listen & review your case!! His nurses Shelley & Kelly are amazing - kind and thorough, responding quickly to call-backs. Kudos to his scheduler Jennifer also who responds quickly to scheuling needs. I have also seen Kristen Walker the injection nurse for Dr Walker and thought she too was very thorough and compassionate. I have recommended many people to OrthoArkansas. I read the 1 star comments and hope that the office manager can resolve their problems but many are common to other doctors offices. Glad those patients were able to be heard. read more

I received care from Ortho Arkansas Little Rock 4 times this year. They were supposed to bill medical insurance, in addition to automobile insurance. Despite auto insurance sending MULTIPLE, requests for correct documentation, Ortho FAILED to send the required information, repeatedly. My account ended up in collections. I called 4 times in November 2023, alone, and spoke with 3 different reps, including a supervisor. I informed the supervisor I would be mailing a check for the balance on 11/16. She assured me my acct would be taken out of collections and not placed back into collections. On 11/20 I received a call from SCS Collections Agency. My check cleared the next day. Every time I have called I was apologized to and told they did not know what happened. I find that to be irrelevant to the fact that I was placed in collections for $120.00 after THEY repeatedly FAILED to do their job. Complaints will be filed with the BBB and Attorney's General Office over the incompetence of this billing department. read more

Went to Ortho as my son was having issues with his hip. We were referred to St Vincent for MRI. When we returned for the results at Ortho (appointment was at 3pm)....We arrived 20 minutes early. Finally called back to a room at 4:45.....Dr Vargas didn't show up to the room for another 30 minutes and only was in the room 5 minutes. When we had gotten into the room, after 5 min I opened the door as it seemed like the staff was having a good time (laughing, carrying on), so figured we'd get some entertainment while we waited. Two and a half hours for a 5 minute diagnosis seems a bit excessive. As a doctor, I wasn't impressed with his expertise. read more

like most people, this place is a joke. filled out a very lengthy and detailed patient history prior to initial visit. it took several hours to fully complete accurately. The appointment was rescheduled due to weather 2 hours before the appointment and rescheduled for 2 weeks later. a request to fill out the same patient form was sent to me again, so I called, and the lady said that she could see the information was filled out completely and she could see the information. I was adamant that I would not take the time to resubmit the information and she said that she would have it transcribed over. fast forward to the day of the appointment: We drove 2 hours to the appointment, and they said that we would have to resubmit all of the information before we could see the physicians assistant (which this should be your first alert that this place is a scam and only trying to generate income with patient screening through PA's). I told the lady that the information was accessible yesterday by the lady in the office. She said since the appointment was canceled due to weather, the information was deleted. I restated that yesterday, I was told that it was being handled and I would not have to resubmit it. So I ask for the office manager "Tracie". She came up and basically that all of the information had been deleted and she could see nothing. I told her of my phone conversation yesterday. She said that she could review the conversation and I told her that's fine, but I was not filling out the forms again. She did volunteer to assist and I told her this is about principal. Do what you say. So we left. I contacted the facility director, to which I haven't heard from regarding my complaint. But within 10 minutes of leaving, "traceie " did call me back and said that she did review the call, and however their employee did say that she would have it transcribbed over, she said that I would arrive there 20 minutes before my appointment and that I was expected to fill out the forms again. But she did also say that see apologized and that most of the information was available now, if I would like to return, but it takes 7 days to transcribe the information. This is all about principle. This is about big medicine heading you in and out as fast as possible to collect money. Do what you say. My time is valuable. This is about doing what you say. This is about the staff, saying anything in person until they realize they are at fault then trying to lie, get confronted about it, and then luring some more. So if you think that this facility has your best interest in mind, the doctor may, but you will jump through so many hoops for the administration, that could care less about the you the patient. I think the doctors are probably really good, but going through the admin, that doesn't care about you or your time, makes it both worth it. Look long and hard for a complete facility that actually cares about you the patient!!! read more

I don't have words to describe the impact on my life from the negative and lack of care I recieved from this facility. No one listens to your symptoms. I was sent for epidural injections which was more like herding cows. The staff were unprofessional and disrespectful. After 6 surgeries in less than a year to put a shunt to remove excess spinal fluid from my brain, Cappocelli managed to make things much, much worse. The shunt "melted" his words and I ended up with a softball sized tumor on my spine. Twice. And now it's happening again, ping pong ball size. He refuses to talk to me about it and even claims it was my fault. I beg his nurse for answers only to be treated like crap. Worst experience I ever had with a doctor. First time patient. I found the wait time average for a first time patient, Once behind the doors everything moved smoothly. I had no x-rays so they took 3 of my shoulder. Dr. Phillip Smith then examined me and explained the plan of treatment clearly. The cortisone shot was the first step. From the first phone call to when I walked out of the clinic, it was a disaster. Why fill out your information online when you have to fill it out AGAIN when you get there. TWO HOURS and several x-rays (before the doctor saw me and I told the nurse I didn't need them) I finally got an Rx for orthotics. When I left at 5:30, there were still people waiting in the waiting area. I talked to a couple earlier and they had been there since 2:00. Ridiculous! I went to Ortho Arkansas physical therapy and worked with Mrs Cabana and she was the BEST therapist ever. I've had a very weak hamstring for years and I've worked with several therapists on it. This was my first time to OrthoAR and was impressed. She was so effective and finally made me better! She broke the homework down for me into things that I can continue for the long term. I love this place. My husband & I are both patients. We see 2 different doctors & APNs. All of the staff are always very professional & caring. They never seem rushed, when they are talking to you. They take the time to listen & assess, to figure out the best treatment. I have had many non surgical treatments, as well as one surgery. Each time I felt they chose the correct path, for me. The wait times do sometimes drive me crazy. I just chalk it up to the fact that I chose the best ortho clinic in the state.
