Always a great visit when my family and I visit. We've literally met w every provider and specialist minus the pediatric providers. I'm talking ankle sprains, ankle bruises, broken toe, injured wrist, injured fingers, acl surgery, lower back pain, etc. I love that the specialists, PA-C's, and physical therapists are all so nice. They're all knowledgeable and kind and have great bedside manners. The location is great. This location isn't even my closest office, but I love the gorge Quarry Lake views. The waiting room, patient rooms, and bathroom are always super clean. Most recently, I visited w my ggggf, and I loved the way they tended to her and made her feel comfy about an uncomfortable injury. Although I'm not looking forward to another injury, I do wish this business the best and will certainly keep my business there when/ if needed. read more

Too much time on the pickleball court took me to Dr. Robert Riederman and how lucky am I!!! After almost 2 months of a swelled knee and little activity, Dr. Riederman was able to pinpoint the problem. I'm always scared to death of needles and Dr. Riederman felt like a cortisone shot was in order . . . , and the best part is that he was finished before I even realized it!!! I was waiting for the "big miserable needle" and lots of pain, only to find that Dr. R's skillful hands had gotten in and out without a blink of an eye. My appointment was at 8:00 a.m. this morning. It is now 4:30 p.m. the same day and I've been able to walk up and down my stairs, bend my knee more easily, and I didn't limp to the kitchen. That's just 8 hours later. I'm looking forward to resuming my regular pickleball schedule next week and it wouldn't have happened without Dr. Riederman!!! I know Dr. Riederman is a well respected Orthopedic Surgeon in our area, and I sure am thankful he sits in our backyard. Oh, and as a caveat to my success story, . . . about 27 years ago Dr. Riederman fixed my husband's shoulder. His shoulder is still in great shape today and that is truly a testament to the skill and experience this fine physician brings to the table. I felt so at ease during my appointment and Dr. R definitely did everything to accommodate a productive, and helpful appointment. All I can say is - - this man is the "A Team". I was instructed to come here after my Patient First visit. They take walk ins but by the time I finished with Patient First they were closed so I came the following day. There were a lot of people in the waiting room as it appears some are here to see the medical staff and some are here to see the therapy staff. As I entered the floor slowly because I was using crutches for the first time to the kiosk to sign in. The wait was about 20 minutes until I was brought to the back. I had a X-ray to confirm yes I need surgery and Dr. Heller was going to do my surgery. Yes, I cried and cried because I did not want surgery. My surgery was set up for a few days later and everything went smoothly. Dr. Heller has great bedside manner and even when I saw his Physician Assistant he also made time to see me to make sure everything was moving along. My biggest fear with surgery was post op complications and I was free of infection and my pain was managed. The office staff Debra made sure my disability paperwork was completed promptly through the process so I was able to get benefits from work without any delay. I have completed therapy and back to normal like prior to surgery. Will definitely recommend this office for any Orthopedic needs. read more

I am a medical provider Office Manager for a mutual patient of The Center for Orthopedics of Maryland. Called the office to get x-ray report for mutual patient. They did not send with record request sent over earlier, same day. As soon as the phone was picked up the reception sighed loudly as if it was bother to answer the phone. She would not let me ask my question just kept saying patient needed to call records department. Patient has already signed a medical release, already called office for them to be able to send us the information. She would not look for anything, she was just trying to get back to her nap, phone, food or whatever I disrupted her from. She told me I had to talk to medical records, I was trying to explain I called them first and no info was uploaded to them. The lady that answered at medical records was actually even less professional. Asked me for the DOB 8 times and name(common name) 5 times with spelling. Acted annoyed I called, completely out of breath, could not get me off the phone fast enough. Referred me to office, and was met with same brush off, annoyance. Said patient had to call and request and it would take another 7-10 business days. Don't know anything about the Drs, but the front staff representing the Drs needs a refresher course in phone etiquette or a job with no interaction with others. read more

Horrible admin! My husband is completely out of his pain medication and he can't talk to an actual person or get a call back. The one time he did get a person, she threw him back over to the automated line. He tried to get CVS to contact them, and they kept hanging up on her or sending her to the automated line. He says every time he goes in the office he sees a lot of people just sitting around behind the desk. What happened to customer service? Not only is he in pain, but now his blood pressure is up. They need to change their system or hire people who actually want to work, because this is despicable. Edited to add: CVS FINALLY got through to someone and was able to get the ball rolling. OrthoMd will talk to them because that's where the $$$ is, apparently they won't talk to patients. read more

The culture is very toxic. That toxicity spreads to patient and staff experiences. Patients are seen as dollar signs. Profit over patient. Is it possible you get timely and competent service? Maybe, but don't count on it every time. It's all a reflection of leadership within the company. read more

When you first walk-in you have to check yourself in. No greetings at all. Just sit down and wait for your name to be called. They didn't ask for my driver's license. They only scan your insurance card. Also they didn't let me sign anything. How are you protecting my identity when you don't have an ID or signature saying it's me. They treat walk-ins like they are an inconvenience than a patient in need. I would never go back there or recommend anyone else. I'll take my chances with Urgent or Patient First because that's all they are to patients but cost more. I had better treatment from Patient First. Smh. The lady who called me in the back to get details of my concerns...she had a lot of "we can't do". I asked for a MRI orders for my knee and lower back. She said they only do X-rays and that was fine so why would you have me come back to do an X-Ray of my back when you can't do X-Rays on back it has to be a MRI. After that I told her I won't be coming back. The young lady who did my X-ray on my knee was amazing. They see more $$$$ than the actual care for the patient. Don't go here. read more

I never leave negative reviews but my experience at the Quarry Lake Office left me feeling that this practice cares little to none about patient care. I know several practice owners and practitioners at this location and all are competent (if not excellent), but my experience w/practice staff was HORRIFIC. Do not bother to set an appointment online or use their app to check in on your mobile phone. I did so and after 50 mins of sitting in their waiting room and everyone being seen (those that came before and after me), I hobbled to the front desk to see what was going on. I was told that my phone check in was not processed by their internal system. An hour after waiting for my "appt" and after my 4th time providing check in data, I was finally show back to the exam room where I was told by the attending nurse that I MUST sit on the bed, which was uncomfortable given my injury. When I refused and explained that my extended wait in the exam room had led me to be in significant pain, I was berated and told I must get on the bed per doctor's orders. Again upon my refusal, the nurse (now angered) raised her voice at me and eventually left the room slamming the door behind her. The doctor came in moments later and was lovely. The entirety of my actual examination was 10 mins in total, but the lack of any compassion and the abysmal attitude of staff leads me to seriously doubt this practice's commitment to customer care. Once you make it past the front desk (they are ok, not the most personable). The inner workings or behind the scenes of this company/office (Quarry Lake) has the best etiquette! The staff is by far the most professional, efficient and kind, which is what you want when being cared for. I have had assistance from the Dr.'s Secretary, PA's, Billing and Medication dept. etc. Dr. Buchalter is a 1 in a million, he listens, explains in laymen's terms and above all, I never feel rushed (even though he has a large patient roster). Dr. Chad Zooker is absolutely amazing, not only for his medical knowledge and skills, but just as much for his bedside manner. Dr. Zooker actually listened to what I had to say. He answered as many questions as I asked. He viewed me as a person, and took into account my feelings based on my experiences and knowledge. He was patient and kind at every appointment. His surgery was smooth and recovery progressed extremely well. My recovery feels complete. read more

Worst experience I've ever had with a healthcare provider. I was incorrectly scheduled for a surgical consult when I specifically asked to see a pain management doctor when I made the appointment and didn't realize they made a mistake until the doctor told me he was a surgeon. While at my appointment, I was telling the doctor about my history with my back. I said I've seen chiropractors and physical therapists and have seen some results, but nothing long lasting... He said "Who referred you to see them?" and I said no one! I went because my back hurt! He said "that's weird." Then he asked me why I was wearing an SI belt and I said "It makes the pain go away." Again, he said "that's weird." Oh really? It's weird that an SI belt is helping my lower back which is where my SI joint is located? And which is also where my pain resides? That's weird?!? Ok... He then says "it's probably just your age." Great. Thanks for that in depth analysis of my x-rays. And he never asked to see my MRI which I brought with me. He then says he would refer me to one of the pain management doctors, and I said "Wait, is that not something you can do?" And that's when he said he was a surgeon. Needless to say, I was disappointed and felt like the whole appointment was a wast of my time and his. I complained at the front desk and they said I was incorrectly booked and that this has been an ongoing problem. They then told me to reach out to the Director of Practice Operations. So I called him hoping maybe he would refund the charge to my insurance, or do something, but he was so dismissive and said that based on his records, everything was done correctly. Does it sound like they did things correctly?!? The doctor and the front desk both said I was incorrectly booked. Don't waste your time or money going to this place... but if you do, make sure you research every single doctor so that you know what each one does, because clearly the people who make the appointments don't. read more

The front desk made mistake in my visit cost for physical therapy that made me book multiple appointments.once i got bill it was way too high than what they told me. Billing manager accepts mistake but still want me to pay the huge bill. I would not have booked appointment had they not told me that they contacted my insurance to get my visit cost. Avoid these people! My sister went for what turned out to be a slipped disc and the staff loudly mocked her for being in pain during her x-ray. Being in pain and incapacitated is terrible. Being laughed out by the people you expect to care for you is next level shittiness. When we found a compassionate doctor to treat her, we tried to cancel. You can't do it online and their phone system doesn't work. Dr. Walden has no bedside manner. Before I went in to my surgery he met with me and stated that he would see me after I woke up...wasn't anywhere in the building when I asked for him. Go figure, just another asshole who is in it for the money. He doesn't care about his patients. That just proved it to me. Multiple visits in the Owings Mills Ortho Maryland office has made it very clear to me that my problems and concerns are not being taken seriously. If you want a quick appointment this is not the place to go. Dr. Zooker is very slow with seeing patients. While in the room waiting I could hear the medical staff outside the door laughing and being loud as if they had nothing to do. Was the first patient of the day and still waited over an hour to see the doctor. Not only that the room they put me in had iodine spatter on the wall and on the trash can which I had to ask if it was blood. Very disgusting!! Gave it two stars because the P.A. was very polite. read more

I had knee replacement surgery last September (2020) performed by Dr. David Buchalter of this practice. I cannot say enough good about this doctor: from technical skill, to personal manner, to willingness to respond to any concern--excellent on every level. Not only was Dr. Buchalter excellent, but the on call doctor, who I reached on Saturday evenings (on two occasions) following surgery contacted me within 15 minutes and was more than patient and reassuring. In fact, she contacted Dr. Buchalter one of the times to confirm what she had told me. The practice staff was exceptional, as well, particularly during this time of pandemic restrictions for in person care. I also had follow up physical therapy at this component of their practice at Quarry Lake and was very impressed with the quality of care. Highly recommend this practice. read more

He is by far one of the greatest doctor's I've ever in countered and at such a young age, he will become the greatest of all times. I am sorry that I dont have an option to put zero. This is such a scam. My son twisted his ankle at the tournament in Boston. While there my husband took him to urgent care where he got X Ray and crutches. He came back and asked me to get him a boot for more convenience. I did not want to order on line because it takes a day or two to get it. Therefore, per my friend's recommendation we went to the office. They charged $550 for the boot that costs $70 on amazon. Same boot by the same company. They told my husband that it fully covered by insurance. The boot was worn once because the quality was awful and my son couldn't wear it. I got a bill for $260 because my insurance did not cover it. I called the office asking them to take the boot back or at least wave the charge but they did not want to hear anything. They also did another X Ray which we did not need because my son had one done a day before. $550!!!!!!b for the boot that costs $70 to consumers. They probably get it from the manufacturer for $20. That is a hell of the markup. I usually never leave bad feedbacks but I think this office is a total fraud. Healthcare should be there for a reason other than making money on hard working people. read more

The desk staff is the friendliest and most helpful of any medical office I've worked with. It's usually easy to get an appointment within the next week, and all three locations have good parking. Check-in is easy, and they're good at informing you if they're running behind. This is the the first time I've ever posted a bad "Medical" review for a medical provider/organization. Due to my experiences, I don't want others to go through the same experiences by choosing this provider. I've been diagnosed with "Spinal Stenosis" back in April 2020. I had an MRI taken at that time and then again in September 2021. My primary care physician recommended this organization Without posting too many paragraphs, I'm going to truncate this is much as possible. When you visit the doctor, you're lucky to get 5 or 10 minutes with the doctor. I can understand this due to volume. My personal experiences include that he didn't ask enough questions. I can tell you, going to my physical therapist, they asked the right questions and documented my answers to provide proper care. . Most folks know their body well enough to provide as much information to the doctor. For every office visit follow-up call, someone different comes into the room to take some your vital information and asks why you're here - even after you went online to their portal and explained everything in detail which they should have access to. I can understand if they want to confirm this information. Then they pull up a page on their software and ask you what medicines you were prescribed. They pull up a page that doesn't show any of the most recent drugs prescribed by the doctor you visited. This happened 2 different visits. They told me they're in the process of upgrading their software. One time I called and the person I spoke to couldn't even pronounce the prescription to be sent to my pharmacist. I received my first epidural injections 2 months ago. I had relief for the first two days - most likely due to the epidural itself. By the third day to present, my pain level climbed back to where it was originally prior to the injections. I now have the pain and increased numbness and tingling down both legs. My last visit with the doctor, . he stated I needed a second round of epidural injections. Until I received the second set of injections, He was to send another prescription to my pharmacist. I checked in two days later and found that he forgot. Spent 20 minutes on the phone with this organization to get a live person on the phone to resubmit the prescription that he prescribed Week after week, my pain and situation has gotten worse. In the past two weeks, I left several phone calls at my doctors extension and never received return phone calls. To provide as much credit as possible to the firm, the PA did attempt to call me after leaving three messages. I missed that call. Trying to get back into the loop to have the PA call me again was totally unsuccessful Just yesterday, I finally and fed up because I have my second set up injections scheduled in two days. I wanted to provide an "up to date" status of my condition to see if it affects anything prior to the second round of injections. Ironically, I received 2 calls from OrthoMD. The first call was from someone in the billing department asking me how to arrange payment. The second call from Ortho Maryland was to tell me that there canceling the injections because the insurance company refuses to pay. I contacted the insurance company along with their sister company that provided reasons why they are rejecting the second set of injections. They stated that the report shows the doctor didn't provide in writing, that my condition has not improved. Basically, there are a series of three questions that they ask and ortho MD did not answer them correctly. There is no one on staff including the doctors PA to have a peer-to-peer with everyone on the phone to discuss why they did not provide pertinent information. As it stands now, I have to wait till I get another phone call from my insurance company after they have the peer-to-peer with the firm's doctor I am not going to post the name of the doctor or his PA involved. My assumption is that it may not be entirely their fault because they have to follow instructions under their office administration Since last week, I've been proactive search and found a highly rated spinal surgeon in my area via the insurance company's free service called "Best Doctors" I have an appointment in December and I feel optimistic that they will do the best to help me read more

Really not sure if they are good doctors, as after taking me in 30 mins late for my appointment (and yes, I arrived 15 mins early like they requested), I had my X-ray taken and now have been sitting in an exam room for the past 35 mins without anyone even opening the door to tell me a doctor is coming. From now on I'm going to try to skip these big practices that just quadruple book appointments all day long and don't care about your time, and find something smaller where they might actually notice you are there. read more

I went to ortho Maryland with knee pain, I was seen by a Physician Assistant and the visit was good. I went back 3 days later I saw another Physician Assistant and that visit was great. 1 week later I saw a Doctor and that was the visit from HELL. Well the Physician Assistant ordered blood work and a M.R.I. well I have the results, now I've call this office 5 business day and quess what I have not received a phone call as of yet. Well this has left a nasty taste in my mouth and I will not be ever going there again read more

I have had both of my knees repaired by Dr. Buchalter. Great Doctor and bedside manner. On a few occasions I had to wait past my appointment time, but I never saw this as a problem. They are busy because they are one of the best at what they do. I received great care before surgery and after with phone calls from them checking on me. Phone calls returned promptly when I have called and left a message. There will always be one person who is having a bad day and leaves a bad review because of a silly problem like a wait they seem is too long or not being given a written map to find a bathroom, which I have used and did not see​ them dirty. The doctor gave me a non-walking boot, no pain medicine, no guidance, and told me to come back in 2 weeks to see the surgeon and got me mentally ready to accept that I need surgery. I chose to come to Ortho Maryland after reading about their specialties on their site and after seeing such great Yelp reviews. I came here for about six weeks at the beginning of the year for my heels. I have bones spurs that push into my achilles tendons. Short of surgery and other things I've tried, PT was suggested by a specialist. The point of PT was to make the tendons more flexible and thereby relieve pressure. The first day at Ortho MD was part consultation, part therapy. I worked with a few different therapists over the course of two months or so. Mostly with Jarret (?) and Paul. They were always friendly, explained what they were doing, had me try many different exercises, stretches, and therapies. Even shock therapy! lol Eventually after six sessions, they measured my flexibility, and while it had made a lot of improvement, it didn't do anything for the pain I have while exercising. So they said there wasn't any reason for me to keep coming back since they accomplished what they wanted but it wasn't working. I was a little thrown off by this. I mean, I'm not knowledgeable about this stuff but it seems like there should be more ways to keep trying. I don't know. I am glad I didn't have to keep paying the co-pay but I was hoping PT would work better. Now my option is surgery or deal with it! read more

I really like all of the orthopedic surgeons I have seen (I've been a frequent flyer here.) I saw Dr. Buchalter today and he was wonderful, as was his PA-C and tech. I was extremely frustrated and disappointed with the staff verifying my insurance. When I initially (had to initially cancel my appointment) made my appointment I mentioned I had Cigna PPO and that my worker's compensation had been discontinued (settled.) they mentioned they would take that out of the system and add Cigna and add my eligibility number as well and what my copay ($35) would be. I received a phone call the morning of my appointment saying my insurance was not approved and my copay would be $250. I was livid. I called them back and they said worker's compensation was not paying for my visit. I said that worker's compensation was not covering as I told them a week ago I already settled and Cigna PPO was my insurance covering this visit and that I had an eligibility number. So I thought that she would've taken down this number but she did not! Some manager Elijah called me back and said he would call to get my benefits verified. By the time (back and forth phone calls) it was 10:20) (my appointment was at 10:30) my insurance still wasn't verified! I just don't understand how this happened 1. Why when I said I don't have worker's compensation anymore/ it's been settled, it wasn't deleted from the system and 2. Insurance isn't verified until the morning of your appointment so I was very late to my appointment with dr Buchalter. I understand that things are different during CoViD19, but I don't get why it was difficult deleting worker's compensation information and not verifying insurance information prior to an appointment so a patient isn't late to the appointment ? I've never had issues like this at my other doctors offices (even with many health care providers at one office.) read more

I had a great experience at Ortho Maryland with Dr. Friedman. I never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for an appointment. After my initial consultation with Dr. Friedman I felt very comfortable with letting him operate on my wrist. He surgically removed a ganglion cyst out of my wrist and it has healed extremely well. I would see Dr. Friedman again in a heartbeat if I ever have another hand/wrist issue. read more

A solid 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5, I ended up at OrthoMaryland on an urgent care basis after I had what I thought was a severe muscle strain. They were able to see me same day, which turned out to be very fortunate as my muscle strain turned out to in fact be a herniated disc. I have now been a faithful patient/client through 4 months of physical therapy, regular and semi-emergent doctor office visits, outpatient pain management and surgery. Having experienced all that OrthoMaryland has to offer I can say the following: the doctors were attentive to my needs and concerns, talking to me outside of appointments on the phone, getting me in for same-day appointments when pain was so bad; the PT staff is incredible at their job. I have a medical background, so being able to work with the PT at that level was both rewarding and upped the tempo of my recovery. The surgeon was fantastic. You can be sure that once I knew I was going to need surgery I checked up. I wasn't sure that I wanted the person that was working on my spine to be someone that I ended up with only as a fluke of urgent care. But his stats were on par with all of the premiere spinal surgeons in the Baltimore area and the proof is in the pudding because the pain I had been in for months was completely gone when I woke up after surgery. The facility is clean and upscale. There is plenty of parking on-site. And did I mention that they have same-day urgent care hours?!? They even have some latitude for walk-ins. Yeah, cause back pain doesn't always wait for an appointment. So, the 4.5 stars is for the front staff. As reported elsewhere, they can seem a little condescending, nee sometimes outright rude. But they do get their jobs done. I had a nurse go above and beyond the call of duty to help me to get my 3-day insurance hold pushed through in 24 hours so I could get the spinal injection I so desperately needed for pain relief the day before I got on a plane bound for Europe. I really cannot say enough good about the quality of the facility and the doctors, nurses, PTs, secretaries, etc. I am walking again and there were times I thought that wouldn't be possible.
