Came here with a loved one for them to get an outpatient procedure done. We pulled up to the hospital's entrance and chose the valet parking option, which is $10 with validation from the department you are going to ($30 without validation). The valet attendant, Sherrill, was very pleasant in handling our valet request and wished us a safe visit. We walked in the main entrance,turned left and went up a slight ramp, to the Information desk and were greeted by a pleasant lady who provided us wristbands to go to the floor where the procedure would be done. Once we got to the department, we were checked in and given the discounted parking validation ticket to retrieve our car after our visit. We were called for the procedure within 10 minutes after the appointment time and greeted by a pleasant staff person, who led us to the procedure room. The type of care that was provided was satisfactory and made us feel "seen". The care quality was good as well during every step pre- and post- procedure. All in all, a nice pleasant experience at this hospital, if your insurance covers procedures at this hospital. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Mercy Hospital. From the moment I arrived, the staff were amazing--helpful, kind, and always ready with clear information. Anytime I had a question, I received an answer right away, which gave me so much peace of mind. On my first night I was in a lot of pain (1-10 was a 13 and the second night it was a 10, the team took care of it immediately. Their quick response and compassion made such a difference. They explained everything that was happening with my care in the room. The professionalism, attentiveness, and kindness of everyone I encountered truly stood out. Mercey is a decent hospital. The patient care from staff outside of the doctors is superb. Everyone from the CNA, nurses, staff on the lobby etc are always so helpful and friendly. The hospital is always packed with people and it's huge. I've changed my doctors closer to home but still keep my PCP. I've had a serious surgery here with zero complications. I went to the movies about 3 hours after. I would recommend if in the area of Baltimore and want good care. I'm apart of the nova system now and don't really see a difference good or bad it's just closer with easier parking. The garage is always full, so you'll have to walk across the bridge to get to this office. read more

My 89 year old mother and I had to go to the ER tonight. The waiting room is ALWAYS chaotic. Always. Kids running around, a patient tried to punch a nurse...typical of Mercy's ER. It's a nightmare. On a brighter note, we had some really great staff members after we were taken in the back. I would like to mention a few of them who stood out. Julia RN (cute young blonde) was extremely nice and helpful. Ryan the Tech (handsome young man) was amazing and made it a point to make sure I was comfortable. He saw that I was in pain. Sharron (young transport guy) was also very pleasant. Kudos to whoever hired Julia, Ryan and Sharron. They made my visit less stressful after waiting for 9 hours in the insane waiting room. I had a painful back strain and my mother has Covid. Her doctor, Dr. Wong, was also very patient and explained everything. Really nice and competent doctor. Seriously...please do something about the ER waiting room. The staff is very cold and often rude, the patients are out of control and often scary. My wonderful family doctor (Dr. Strain) is at Mercy and we often go to your ER because they have our records. But we are rethinking going back to Mercy because of the ER waiting room. read more

Had a wonderful night nurse on c17th floor. Kind, caring and very helpful to our needs. First shift nurse complained about her tech, who was very helpful, complained about her job. Didn't do her job. Almost dropped my family on the floor transferring him from one bed to the next. Could never find her. Hit nurse button, it would ring for 40 minutes or more. Couldn't wait to get away from her. Called 9774 breakfast, lunch or dinner and never got all of his order. Missing hot tea or coffee. Ensure protein drink, sausage for breakfast. Etc. Will NEVER let my family stay there again. Both of hid arms are black and blue. He was confused and fidgety and I don't know what would have happened if I wasn't there. Unable to walk and erst trying to get up. I stopped him. Nobody there did. I didn't get to sleep 3 nights in a row.​ read more

Billing Department will send a bill when you are not responsible, I had my insurance on the phone with mercy and they still did not understand what and why I receive this bill. Shirley from the billing department was very rude and has no customer service at all. No manager's are never available to talk with this is unexceptable. The doctor's and nurses are so wonderful, but the billing department need manager's to train their staff on how to handle complaints because Ms. Shirley read off her eob and still did not understand everthough my insurance was on the telephone letter her know I'm not responsible. They bill me for three cpt's that is still pending with my primary insurance and did not know how to explain why I received this bill. OMG. Also the bill was paid three days ago and they will be receiving the bill soon. Very upset patient. read more

My wife and I had to go here for a specialized procedure, traveling to Mercy from the Eastern Shore. The hospital was very clean and bright, and you got a welcoming vibe from the moment you come in. We were greeted by staff at the information desk and given wristbands and directed to the appropriate clinic. On arrival there, again the staff were very friendly and helpful, and check in was quick and relatively easy. For the procedure, there were some preparatory steps for the biopsy in the clinic, and the procedure was explained in detail, along with optional procedures, should they be necessary. The nurses and doctors were very straightforward with explanations, and answered all questions and concerns. Post procedure care was excellent, and we were checked on multiple times just making sure we were comfortable and if we had any needs. They also offered a parking validation - it didn't cover the full cost of parking, but did cover about half the cost. I'd highly recommend this hospital for the service provided and the care received. read more

I had such a strange experience, Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024 at Mercy's emergency room. I chose to go to Mercy because my son has had to use this hospital often and always had an amazing experience. That was not my experience. I waited 4 hours to be taken into the actual ER. There was no nurse to assist me, the room was FILTHY, borderline disgusting; the staff was all congregated around the TV and watching the Raven's game. I was there for another 6 hours saw 2 doctors briefly, one was nice, one was just rude and unprofessional. No nurse ever checked on me till 11 pm and said she was just coming on shift. Everything happened quickly then with the nurse moving my care along and I was discharged with information (my health information had been disclosed to my son by the rude Doctor without my consent), and eventually I left. It was an exhausting, unpleasant, embarrassing, painful (the blood pressure machine was going crazy and hurt my arm badly) experience. I won't go back. The one doctor was very nice, the late shift nurse was shockingly efficient and the people in radiology were lovely. The actual care was abysmal. I won't go back. read more

Three cheers for them. From the time I met Dr. Nigro, she was completely professional and had a great bedside manner. That says a lot for a surgeon. She listened when no one else would. Everyone from the Mary Catherine Bunting Center to the care I received in recovery was spectacular A short history about me: I have been in debilitating chronic pain for over 15 years, it was Dr. Shawn Peffall, my practitioner, who told me back in 2018 that a breast reduction could offer me some comfort. I was sent to the ER by my family doctor because something wasn't right with me for weeks and I have been getting worse. I was told by this liberal ER doctor who didn't seem nice from the start say they were keeping me and that I had been getting the wrong medication this who time and that is why I wasn't getting better. She said I needed IV antibiotics and they were moving me to a room. I laid in this tiny room alone for a few hours getting tests done but mainly sleeping supposedly waiting for a room when out of the blue the not nice doctor that I had been dealing with came in saying they were releasing me and she didn't care what my family doctor had to say. I was there for a severe infection, but they put down on the paperwork that I was there for pain. WTF?! I have been dealing with the same infection off and on for over 2 years. I wish I would have gotten a different doctor because the minute she walked in, I knew there was going to be an issue with her. These doctors don't know you but they pretend they can take care of you. Now that I'm home results are coming in saying my doctor was correct and I do have infections. Hopefully I can get an appointment with a specialist there who can put me in the hospital and give me the right medication. I miss the days when the ER doctors worked with your family doctor because they know who we are way better than some ER Physician Assistant. read more

I had to take my one year old daughter to the ED at Mercy because of a high fever On January 18th, in which she ended up testing positive for the Flu. The doctor and the attending were so amazing. Often times doctors bedside manners are not always the best. but they were attentive, caring, compassionate and showed empathy. I'm a 1st time mom and having a sick baby is a scary thing to deal with. but Dr. Mobley and Dr. Isbell were amazing and kept reassuring me that everything would be ok and told me to not hesitate to bring her back if she wasn't getting better. I went through their my chart system several times when I was feeling very ill, received no helpful responses and did not hear from the physician but rather an irritable, likely overworked data entry clerk. While explaining the issue to their Customer Service, I realized there was a simple solution - just go some where else. I recommend you do the same. read more

I was hospitalized the week before Christmas at Mercy Orthopedic after a full ankle replacement surgery done by Dr. Schon's team of true professionals. From the receptionists to the surgical assistants, everyone was so kind and accommodating. We live in Phila and I will be coming to Baltimore for literally years to come because I need both my ankles replaced because of AVN. The procedure was incredibly complex, requiring bone grafts as well as reconstructive techniques pioneered by Dr. Schon. His team is amazing. Ernestine was always spot on with surgery details and expectations; I am grateful for her guidance and expertise as well. And now to the hospital staff....I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate, kind and attentive team to navigate me through some very difficult and painful episodes. I want to mention as many as I can now to acknowledge them. The nurses, Thankeka, Catherine, and Haley were phenomenal. The tech girls were attentive and so kind as well- a special shout out to Arielle, Mia, and Marquita! I also had two sessions of PT, and Matt and Chris carefully taught me how to navigate my knee scooter and manage living with just one leg for a while. This is going to be a long term adjustment for me, because as soon as the one ankle heals enough, I have to have the other one done as well. James the anesthesiologist was a calming factor in an otherwise very stressful time for me, so I was grateful for his sweet demeanor that put me at ease. Dr. Lisa who was the follow up attending doctor, was so understanding of my pain situation and was supportive in requesting another day in the hospital since I was not even able to stand 36 hours after the surgery because of extreme weakness and pain. I also can't forget to mention Sonia who with her joyful demeanor, was there to assure that my room was kept neat and tidy daily. It was also reassuring that the hospital could send clerics to administer communion if you wanted it, and having that time with Sister Helen and Father John set my mind at ease with their genuine kindness. I can say that in my many years of needing medical care over the years, Mercy Hospital has been the best experience ever from A-Z. This hopefully is a reflection of great management, and leadership from above. Thank you all for helping me navigate this intense ordeal, and for all of you as you continue to grow your angel wings. I was released with my hand swollen and painful from having the IV leak into my hand from a botched job of inserting the IV very clumsily. They did not have a diabetic menu. They did not even offer Glucerna. Everyone treated me well along with the nursing staff, the physical therapy staff and the x-ray staff. This hospital is a hidden gem. I never heard of it and have to have surgery last minute. They set me up quickly and gave me all my pre op information. A few days before surgery I got a call asking questions to make sure I was okay to have it. Even with me having a pre op check up with my Dr they didn't do the correct Corona test. I was told the day before come an hour early and go get tested on site. Test was quick, employees friendly and I went on to the surgery area. Staff was so kind, understanding and compassionate knowing I was nervous but ready. I woke up to the nicest nurses who told my husband and I what to expect post op And how long it takes to heal ect. Please read the meters and parking signs...Parking attendant was waiting for me to get out of my ride and walk away, no buddy, I got the parking app on my phone, GOTCHA my friend. I called security to see if they have an escort service and was told that the security officers don't leave campus or even watch people to their cars. I came here on March 8th, 2024 via ambulance for care. I was given an IV bag and nothing else. My HIPPA was violated here. They will share your personal information. They will talk crap about you as I heard them from my room talking about me and other patients laughing and ridiculing them. They will not take your Healthcare seriously. How do I know this?? Because of their negligence I wound up in another hospital less than 24 hrs later. I was almost sexually assaulted twice in the same night in their ER lobby. Their staff will advise you that your trying to falsely hold a bed when you go into full mental health crisis due to the abuse of power and way you've been treated like an animal not a human. If your experiencing a mental health crisis...go somewhere else. They will scream this at you unprofessional. Then when you make too much of a "" "issue" they will try anything to get you to leave. Even telling you false fraudulent information as they know you will be stranded upon going to the places and services they recommend you go to for further help. They truly don't care. There were 3 nurses and a nurse supervisor who all lied to my face, yelled at me, and violated my ADA rights to fair and ethical treatment. I hear it's a "thang" with this hospital as others echoed the same treatment and distance for lack of proper ethical treatment. If your already on suicidal break...this hospital nurse supervisor will in no less words tell you...JUMP! As soon as a class action lawsuit comes heavenly upon this facility...I will gladly join. All the lawyers are reluctant to sue...it only takes one whose not...CURRENTLY OUT OF THE OFFICE...LOOKING FOR LAWSUIT LAWYERS...PLEASE DON'T GO HERE IF YOUR A R*** VICTIM. I visited the hospital to be scheduled for a colonoscopy. I entered through the revolving door. I got a ride to the hospital. Just before leaving I went to the cafeteria. I was making my way back to the door that I came in when I was stopped by the guard sitting at the desk. She asked if I had a bracelet. (Mind you I was not given a bracelet when I got there. I was told I did not need one.) She asked where I was going and if I had a bracelet. When I told her I did not have a bracelet and that I was leaving she said I had to leave through another door. Once outside I found that I was not as the door I came in. I had to make my way down 2 sets of steps and cross the street. I found myself walking in the out direction of where I was trying to get to to get to my ride that was waiting for me at the door. It was raining and I was walking up a hill (almost fell twice because I was carry food I just bought). I finally made my way to the place my ride was waiting for me. I have never been to Mercy and very unfamiliar with the campus. Based upon this experience I will not return. There was no reason for the guard to have me go out another door. I noticed she did not ask others where they were going. Not sure what type of training there staff receives but I don't want to find out. read more

I had an appointment at the hospital, car was dropped off only for about an hour when my car was brought back around items were missing out of my car. seats were moved around, visors were down. Office experience restorative therapy and billing office. I receive an email bill stating that I saw a Dr David still.. see this doctor I don't see any other doctors at Mercy my insurance was charged and I received the co-payment bill they said to contact restorative therapy they placed the billing. When calling that office and speaking to a manager and office manager in reference to the billing they stated they didn't know Dr David still he does not run that department and all of my billing went to the correct billing office. To contact Mercy's billing office when contacting them they stated that this billing came from restorative therapies speech therapy run around. I looked Dr David still up at Mercy hospital downtown He is a woman imagining radiologist.mercy could have looked up his information and corrected billing but no they're making me do all the calling and run around.im upset with this experience.it make me want to see my restorative therapist at a different location. read more

This hospital used to be patient friendly and previously was very easy to schedule a Covid 19 test. Now for some senseless reason, the process is made much more difficult in requiring that either a primary care physician or patient services initiates the process. If one cannot reach either one, as I cannot due to the fact that neither one answers phone calls anymore apparently, you are SOL and will never get a test again at this hospital. I am fed up with this hospital's irrational policies and am switching all my medical care to Johns Hopkins, which is actually a high quality medical institution instead of the mediocre Mercy Medical Center which is obviously run by mindless corporate buffoons. read more

I have a lot of appts here and have been admitted once here. The only thing I think is awful is that patients and visitors get charged for parking. I don't think that's right because not everyone can afford that and it causes patients to not be able to have visitors or it makes people not go to needed appointments if they can't afford it. Please do better and only charge outside people that use the parking garage. It just feel like greed. However the hospital staff is amazing and I totally love Mercy. read more

I had a magical view from the 15th floor. I enjoyed my days here with my wife after her surgery. The nurses and doctors were so attentive. We were waited on hand and foot all the way to the ordering of food. Food service was excellent, they always came and asked my wife what she like to order. They always made sure she had a meal. Nursing staff was excellent. They never complained and answered all my wife questions. Even when the button kept going off, they just came and reset it. Security was very courteous because when I couldn't find my car she was willing to walk with me and point me the correct direction . I love Mercy never stop doing what you guys do. You are great! Mercy is a underrated, excellent hospital in Baltimore City. A Hopkins trauma surgeon friend of ours calls it "the place where Hopkins surgeons get paid in Maryland!" Our child was born here, I had multiple major surgeries including a 2 level spinal fusion here. Dr. Nanavati is an outstanding surgeon and compassionate about his patients. Dr. Dean might be the finest back surgeon in the region, with a healthy balance of medical arrogance! Dr. Hungerford is technically skilled and on the cutting edge of hip surgery in the nation! If you have to visit a hospital for ER services or for surgery, I recommend Mercy. I was in pain from what I thought was strep and ended up having emergency surgery for an abscess. The ER staff was great along with the nurses on the 12th floor. Shout out to Andrea and Meagan. They were AWESOME and very attentive tinny needs. These ladies and their teams did everything they could to make my unexpected stay comfortable. If I have another emergency situation I will go back to Mercy. read more

This hospital is on top of their game with customer service / Medical expertise is on point as well . Nursing staff is well trained . Our family member was on the 12 floor ! Hands down - top nurses - Kathleen / Jillian / Suyong/ Sunny. Charday was amazing and super accommodating. Things to improve on - right and left hand need to better coordinate with each other. A few mix signals with dietary instructions and other things. We came in through ER - the nurses and others were on point. We had quite a few residents/ interns most were good. Nurses were outstanding in ER female - male (Tony). GI person - Paul Gordon was through but confusing and the dietary instructions were sort of late and caused extended time. But generally speaking a great experience from ER to 12 floor and Testing Endoscopy/Colon !! The night nurses from 12 floor who deserves honorable mention are Bukky who took very good care of my father at night with some real challenging circumstances. Third day - nurses - Scott and Rachel - A+ as well Last day it's a shame RN Melanie was a huge disappointment- terrible disposition and if I had to score her it would be an "F"! Insensitive, cold, rude place. I have experienced issues with security and the front desk multiple times. My sister is a new mom and has a very close relationship to her 13 year old niece. We drove 40 minutes into the city, leaving her ten year old brother at home since the rule was for visitors to be 13 years of age or older, and came to see her new cousin. My niece does not have an ID card yet and they refused to let her upstairs. My sister in the mother baby unit did not have the max amount of visitors, there was about an hour and a half left of visiting hours so we would not be staying long, and my niece was bouncing with excitement for days so ready to hold her little cousin. The insensitivity and flatness from the front desk was shocking, they offered no explanation other then "those are the rules". I watched multiple young children filter in and out of the elevators without the same screening we received. I feel the hospital ruined a very special moment in our lives and I will make sure other expecting mothers are aware of these ridiculous policies. read more
