Nice, clean, restaurant in the Steigenberger Hof Hotel. Staff is professional and good. English was well spoken by several staff members. Don't shame me for doing this but a colleague highly recommended the cheeseburger. So, I had to try it and it didn't disappoint. Big patty, tasty thick bacon, and great bun and sauce. Better than some U.S. places hands down. The coleslaw was excellent (but small portion). Fries weren't bad but again, small portion. Son had the wienerschnitzel. Huge portion but thin pounded cut so it wasn't that big that you couldn't finish it. Potatoe/cucumber salad was delish. On the expensive side but worth a second visit. read more

Food taste and attention to customer care. Ordered a simple bowl of pumpkin soup and it wasn't good. It wasn't even palatable. I asked for them to please take it away, I can't eat it. They did but it still was on my bill. They charged me for something bad. I won't be back. read more

Located in the Steigenberger Frankfurter HOF Hotel in Frankfurt, OSCAR's is great German cuisine ... especially for my last dinner before heading back to The States the next morning. My meal consisted of Cream of Asparagus Soup and a Wienerschnitzel (fried pork cutlet) so huge it practically fell off the plate. Washed down with a couple glasses of fine white wine, I was definitely happy to dine here! This place is very posh and located in Steigenberger hotel. Wifi is free. Bathroom is a bit of a walk and located near the function rooms. Very nice, fancy, and clean bathroom. We came here just for dessert and had crème brûlée. The presentation was appealing and they served it with ice cream. My craving was satisfied! My mint tea was served with biscotti. I just arrived in Frankfurt and am staying at the Steinberger Hof. Oscars is located in their hotel and is very comfortable. Elegant really. The staff was incredibly welcoming and seated right away for lunch. The menu is very complete and I opted for gnocchi it with prawns and pea pods. Delicious. I was starving as I had walked 7 miles through Downtown Frankfurt, taking in the culture and shopping. Just lovely for a City not really known for tourism. The Main river splits Frankfurt with charming bridges linking the two together. But Oscars... quiet, delicious, expensive. Best first meal in Germany! Tomorrow Christmas market foraging! read more

After arriving for a 1-night stay at the adjacent Steigenberger Frankfurter hof hotel, we decided to pop in for lunch. On a Wednesday at 1, most of the tables contained business people in this stylish and hip bistro. While the lunch menu isn't huge, there were plenty of options from traditional German classics to hamburger and even some salads. Both my wife and I opted for Cesar salads with chicken which were large and tasty. The chicken was grilled and super tender and provided a nice antidote to the heavier meals we had been enjoying on our travels in Austria and Germany. Service was nice and everyone addressed us in English so no language issues. All in all a satisfying lunch. read more

While wandering the streets of Frankfurt, we stumbled on Oscar's. It is set back from the street in the courtyard of a hotel complex. The look is very appealing which drew us in. We were quickly seated but it did take a few minutes to be greeted by our server. This was actually fine as we were deep in conversation. When she did come to us, we ordered drinks and an appetizer. The drinks and bread arrived shortly thereafter followed by our shrimp and scallop appy. We were never rushed and ordered our entrees a short time later. When they arrived, they looked delicious and tasted just right. My tuna was rare as ordered. After we finished our meals, we of course needed dessert... time for chocolate creme brulee. Prior to hitting the town, we wanted a light lunch to give us some energy to walk, walk, walk! Since we were staying at the gorgeous Steigenberger hotel, this was an easy choice for a restaurant. The restaurant is small and cozy. We were seated by the window so we could watch the hustle and bustle in town. We both ordered the caesar salad with prawns. Holy cow, this was delicious! Just the right amount of dressing and the prawns were cooked to perfection. It also was served with a parmesan crisp, which was yummy. Stars were knocked off because once the food was served, the waitress seemed to have disappeared. I had to flag someone down for the bill. Food- great. Service-lacking. read more

very nice place. I had lunch here with my friend, I ordered fish with Mediterranean vegetables, which is Really tasty. The moment I bite down on the fish my mind went back to Mediterranean sea I just got back from. Fresh and the nice flavor burst between your teeth and tongue, I did not want to swallow each bite, my friends voice and the surrounding suddenly became blurred . No joke it is that amazing. I love how they cut their bread thinner than average which makes it easier to bite for me. very good spot to be, there is water fountain across the street. One of 4 restaurants in the Frankfurter Hof, this place endeavors to be a gastropub type spot which caters to business folk and high end society as well. The kitchen attempts to bring high quality creative regional dishes with an international flavor but unfortunately they try a bit too hard and the final product is convoluted and confusing. Came here for dinner with old colleagues on a tuesday night in october and the bar was well filled but the restaurant was pretty empty. We sat by the window with a view of the courtyard and took a look at the specials which all seemed to include WAY to many ingredients and didnt really seem to mesh. Finally settled on the tomato soup to start and the lamb special for the entree. Colleagues ordered soup and tuna steak/ribeye. The tomato soup was salty and kind of bland and was accompanied by yet another tomato (a grilled cherry) and a ball of mozzarella mixed with rice--strange. The lamb chops came caked with some breadcumb type crust which completely overpowered the meat and was accompanied by some grilled zuchinni and a huge potato concoction which had zero flavor. the Tuna looked ok but my colleague's ribeye was a predictable disaster--never order steak in europe man, its never on par with the states. Only positive of the meal was the delicious and well priced '07 Cote d'Rhone we nabbed which was sufficient to glaze over the rest of this forgettable meal. This is a scathing review of this restaurant! We were seated promptly but then ignored for about 15 minutes. We ordered wine and our meal, then bread came out about 10 minutes later. At that time, a women at the table behind us, got out of her seat and had a heated exchange with the waitress. We soon found out that it was because they had waited so long for their food. The soup I ordered came out about 15 minutes later. It was delicious and hot. We then waited another 45 minutes for our entrees! We asked several times what the hold up was. Everyone just kept apologizing. I think heard "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened" at least 6 times. When our food did arrive it looked like it had been sitting around for 30 minutes and tasted like it had. We then asked for our check and again sat for 15 minutes until we finally said we were leaving. The bill had inflated prices and were more than what was on the menu. Oscars restaurant is located in downtown Frankfurt in front of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hotel. It is an open air restaurant in a very trendy street level setting. After being asked if we wanted bread, and a plate arrived with 3 different kinds of breads including a ramekin of seasoned butter. We also ordered a bottle of red wine. We started with a shrimp and scallop appetizer which was quite beautifully plated and was delicious. My son ordered the schnitzel entrée which had potato au gratin and a cucumber dill salad. It must have been good because he devoured it LOL! I ordered the Gnocchi entrée which had asparagus heads and local cheese. Outstanding! The other entrée was the grilled tuna steak with yellow squash and cream corn. It was also fantastic. We capped off the meal with chocolate crème brule served in a terra cotta plate with a side of rhubarb. The prices are high but the food lived up to the cost. Very beautiful and cozy location in the heart of Frankfurt. As a family member stayed in the Steigenberger for some nights we decided to have dinner with him at this place. We all were not really hungry and had only starters. My GF ate a asparagus soup which was tasty. I had a quiche from asparagus which was really a small portion for 18,00€. This is really a lot. The place is good and the waiter was really friendly and on time with all! I believe it is a good place as for a bar and small dishes but the prices are too high in comparison with what you can get in Frankfurts local restaurants. All in all I don't need to go there again bit it was a positive experience to see the relative again and be close to his Hotel. Location in the city center is perfect! This place was truly a pathetic excuse for a restaurant. I've had food in alleys that is 1000 times better than anything on their menu. The €79 seafood platter had less offerings than the floor at red lobster. This schnitzel was as thin as a piece of paper. With the hamburger was considerably worse than a Happy meal at McDonald's. On top of it, the service was poor. It took more than one hour from our appetizer to our main course. Avoid this garbage spot at all costs. You will be better off picking any restaurant at random. A vending machine in a homeless shelter would be a considerably better option. I would be €100 to not to go here. The ambiance was liking as well. read more
