Wonderful place to find a cool gift or something special for yourself. I most recently purchased a heart shaped crystal and slippers. Presents for two separate people that were loved when received. Staff are pleasant and helpful. They have gift wrapped for us in the past too if you need or want help with making things look really pretty.

I go to walk in and a woman comes to the door and says "sorry we're closed", even though every indication, even the store hours said they were still open. I could hear someone counting the draw, and I knew it was the reason she didn't want my business. I just wish she asked me if I needed something specific, or an "I'm sorry we're counting the draw, is there something particular you were looking for." It was poor business, and I'll never attempt to go there again.

For him, it's five stars. For me, the couple of times I've been to pick up/look for something... the employees have been so, so incredibly rude. Clearly, I don't give off an artsy vibe, and they know it. One particular time that haunts me: I asked about something specific and I used an alternative term for it (but still a correct term; I had to do a quick internet search after I left to see if I really had misspoken - I hadn't) and all four employees behind the counter just stared blankly at me. I repeated my question, explaining what I needed with context so they could visualize what I was talking about, and was met with "never heard of it", "that doesn't exist", "we don't carry anything like that". I eventually found what I was looking for on my own, and when I cashed out I was met with snickers and eyerolls. "Ohhhhhhh, you meant [other term]." I felt so ridiculed and awkward and unwelcome. For me, it's a one star.

And the job was finished in a timely fashion, just as promised. We had considered replacing the chairs, but for less than half that expense we were able to keep the chairs we've enjoyed for almost fifty years. What a fun little discovery on my way into town. I have passed this place a zillion times and had…read moresaid I would stop eventually. Well, stop I did, to see if they had a gift for a friend's birthday. First, I love any store that smells like balsam as you walk through the door. The scent makes me feel like a kid again. I'm not from Maine (have been here long enough to feel at home), but as a kid we used to drive here from Ohio and spend a few weeks going up and down the coast. The smell of balsam reminds me of these trips. Second, I was shocked by the variety they had. Maple syrup, Maine souvenirs, crafting supplies, wooden figurines, and antiques. The have a sign stating that they "glue chairs". I didn't know that was a thing, but apparently, it is... They also sell wreaths and Christmas trees during the appropriate season. And finally, the owners were as nice as could be. They had out hot chocolate for the kids, and they wrapped my little gift up neatly. This little shop is well worth the drive into town because of how darn cute it is!

If you have a person or four, as I did today, to buy a gift for, buy the gifts at a League of NH Craftsmen store. You will find items for anywhere from $10 to $1,000+. I guy wedding gifts, Christmas gift, Birthday gifts and oops, sorry honey gifts. I like to keep one of the ladder on hand for those not so special occasions. No, I know none of the craftsmen, nor do I know any of the employees of these shops, but I have always been very successful buying gifts here. I think you will be too.

Driving along a main road in search of our breakfast stop, we passed by Claudette's, not realizing…read morethat it was in her home. My mom and I were up for the weekend and we were intrigued by some pictures found online, so we decided to add a stop to our agenda. When we arrived, there were a few cars there, so we parked near them and a door that we assumed was the entrance. When we entered we were overwhelmed by the amount of products, followed by the amount of space that was dedicated to crafting. I wouldn't think that so much stuff could fit so neatly into one person's home. The first few aisles are lined with charms for necklaces, bracelets and other needs for crafting projects. There were rows of beads, gems, and other fun goodies. I found a bunch of wreath making supplies, a room of flowers and a room of ribbon...and some Christmas items. The owner is a super nice person and I can only assume that she was "the" Claudette, since I never did ask her name. My mother and I were just so excited speaking with her and checking out the craft samples that she and her family had made. This place is for the true crafter. One who isn't afraid to spend their time looking through thousands of items just to find that perfect piece. Though I'm sure if you ask, you will be told right where you will find what you're looking for. I did not see any scrapbook or junk journal type materials. Because the business is in the lower portion of a home, I would assume it is due to climate control. Did I mention that the prices are quite reasonable? I left with a full bag of so many fun things that I just can't wait to dive into. The store is closed on Sunday and Monday, so be sure to plan accordingly.
