As much as I'd like to keep this place a secret, it is totally amazing and worth five stars. Having…read morejust moved to Portland a month ago, there were a few "missing items" and "empty spaces" in my humble abode that needed filling. My next door neighbor alerted to me this place and I'm so glad. I picked up four dining chairs (sometimes they are priced as a package deal with a table, but these were actually priced individually and separate from the table). I thought about getting some sort of lounge or easy chair to read in but I haven't converted to Maine vehicle yet, so my Mazda wouldn't fit it. Next time! A gorgeous coffee table also caught my eye, so that item was also purchased. I had to make two trips, but hey-ho. I think prices are great. Obviously, you're getting used items but isn't there something really charming about having furniture that has been lovingly used? (As long as it doesn't smell like a dirty fart) You could go the route of IKEA and I have totally done so on occasion, but let's admit it, most of that crap is crap. Old used furniture was made with love. I can imagine that prices may have climbed in the past few years, though I only have Chicago Salvation Armies to compare it to, and I think the prices are still better here than Chicago five years ago. Stuff probably comes and goes fairly regularly so don't feel defeated on an initial visit. I will definitely venture back here.

Not only did my son have a variety of desks to consider, the prices were well below what I thought would be reasonable. The staff, after showing us around the store and unobtrusively checking in, they assisted us with getting our purchase to and into our vehicle. We will think of Restore-HfH first the next time we need home furnishings.

*I hope the manager reads these reviews*…read more I cannot imagine we will be visiting again. After 3 years of lots of grace and patience with THEIR customer service, I cannot see a reason to continue to give them slack on this front. It's their job. I do not need to support a business that doesn't care well for the customers or kids. Later Lots for Tots. Hope you have a workplace revival and pull the stick out of you bums. You're missing out on a great opportunity to be a fun place. Bummer for you. Often grumpy customers leave poor reviews without giving it time. Well I'll tell you what, I have been visiting this location for 3 years. Selling and buying. Unfortunately, I have yet to have a resounding positive experience even once. Customer service: as a kids store, I expect it to be kid friendly and friendly in general. Unfortunately no. Maybe they hire people with RBF but woof walking in feels like a glare fest- very unwelcoming. And if there are kids with you- forget about it. Cold shoulder. I thought the reviews were exaggerating on this- nope. Not one bit. I don't know one mom who feels comfortable and welcome to bring her kids in there- to a kids resale store! YIKES. Despite this I 9/10 times have brought my kids in- I'm the kind paying customer with well behaved kids. I don't walk in there and feel like I want to buy anything bc of how disturbed the environment feels. Selling: it's like they're mad you're there bringing them product for them to make money off of. It's alarming how displeased the women are every single time I've dropped anything off- mind you before even reviewing my loot. And asking for a timeframe for when the review will be done has ALWAYS been answered with a condescending scowl and "oh I don't know, at least an hour oh and you have to pick it up by 6pm." I have dropped a few loads that I made a decent amount on, but always felt robbed at the dollar amount I received. Recently, I brought 5 bags of clothes and they found one item they wanted. I cannot imagine they looked through all the pieces. I am absolutely certain there was more than ONE item "worthy of their standards" in the bags. Absolutely certain. Buying: The clothes are WAY over priced. Past season, worn Old Navy is listed for the original new prices- maybe 50 cents off. Many items are pilling. Many. I have yet to find more than 1 or 2 boys items worth buying after repeated visits- 2 years looking for boys clothes. I've found things hung for sale with stains and holes and pilling. Did I mention how over priced the clothes are?? Later Lots for Tots. Won't be missing you.

This business was different from beginning to end. The owner is a great guy and makes you feel comfortable and heard. Really awesome customer service, very upfront, and very fair pricing. I really appreciated the quick turnaround time, and the honest opinion on what was going on with my car. These guys really know their stuff and it was awesome being able to bounce ideas and troubleshooting off them. I don't live in the area, but would 100% recommend to all with car troubles.

They were able to fit us in within the hour and gave us recommendations on what to do until then. Turns out there was nothing visibly wrong with the tire, no holes or anything, so they couldn't do anything on the spot. They didn't charge for the inspection and filling up the tire. We very much appreciated their help and are glad to know we can wait until we get back to deal with the tire instead of worry all weekend. We definitely recommend and would come back if we have a problem (hopefully we don't). Very friendly, great service.

If your shopping for a specific brand it can be more expensive, but true to the item, I saw these Nike shoes that were reselling for $60 and they are used and worn through-- to be expected for a thrift but they were still in good condition-- I didn't end up buying them because they were out of budget for me at the time-- I might go back to see if they still have them maybe-- they have a lot of cute summer stuff, and they sell bras and all kinds of clothes-- you definitely have to sift through to find something really good! The staff is very to themselves unless your at the register or being direct with a question, other then that they don't really bother you while they are working-- seeing the other reviews kinda makes me sad because I do enjoy this place-- but I heard it can be hard if you're trying to resell your cloths and get some money off them! I haven't experienced this yet-- I've yet to want to sell any of my own cloths to this store, but according to the reviews I might choose elsewhere.

This is more of a hot spot for tweens and teens but you can find some good stuff here if you sift a bit. It still has the goodwill smell but not as bad. General rule of thumb: your clothes you bought for $50 are pretty much worthless the moment you walk out of a store. Plato's closet will probably give you less than $3 a piece because most of the stuff people bring is fast fashion. I've seen some good brands though like everlane, but most things aren't high quality. I did get lucky a found a very nice cashmere sweater, an all cotton sweater, and my new favorite corduroy skirt. My rule of thumb, brand is less important than the material they used so that's how I do my shopping. Staff here is pretty much teens so don't expect the best. Good luck!

My experience…read morewith Cherished Possessions echoes many of the 1-star ratings previously given this company: * First item reportedly sold over three months ago with the last item reportedly sold over a month ago. I've not received ANY reimbursement despite my repeated requests for payment. CP's response: The check is in the mail. * Cherished Possessions emailed asking for my mailing address. As I had provided this information previously, I contacted a friend to pick up my check as I no longer live in Portland. Five days later I informed Cherished Possessions of my arrangements to obtain the payment due me; they emailed me back stating as they did not hear from me they mailed it to my Oregon address but did not confirm which address the check was supposedly mailed. The Kicker: I took five days for me to get back to Cherished Possessions, but it takes them weeks to respond to my requests, if they respond at all. * CP took weeks to re-establish my CP account after I informed them I no longer had access, preventing me from tracking sales on my furniture. CP's response: Their staff has been out sick. * When my account access was finally re-established, it did not show which of my items were sold or for how much; rather the account stated 'Total Paid to Date: $325.00'. The Kicker: I've not received ANY payment from Cherished Possessions. * I made arrangements for an item, reportedly not sold, to be picked up after the 90-day period stated in CP's contract. When contacted to make pickup arrangements, CP stated the item had been sold. When asked about the conflicting information provided by CP, the CP staff member became rude saying she didn't have time to discuss the furniture. With the loss of my property without the promised reimbursement, I now realize my mistake was not adhering to the numerous 1-star reviews given this business. Potential consignors & buyers should also read Cherished Possessions' responses to prior 1-star reviews which I found to be condescending & dismissive to concerns expressed by consignors.
