The restaurant is under new ownership. Same name, same menu, same staff - much pricier. The service and the food are still quite good but the new owner gets aggravated if you have a more recently purchased gift certificate issued by the old owner. His immediate response is, " This is not my signature on it". This would be understandable if the business changed name, menu, chef and employees but it hasn't. He purposely kept the business the same to build on Randy's (previous owner) clientele. Needs to clearly notify diners that he will not accept gift certificates purchased prior to his taking over. Even those purchased within the past six months Will not be dining there again. He just lost between $1,500-2,000 per year. read more

Decent Italian American fare with a friendly staff. Not much was traditional Italian but they do make what everyone will expect to be served as Italian food. I had some gnocchi pomodoro which was pretty good. The pasta and sauce both appeared to be homemade. My niece ordered the osso buco and I found it to be sadly lacking in flavor. It's just not the same since changing ownership and I've given it two tries. The whole place was painted inside, covering bricks and wood finish. No appeal to the decor anymore. Despite being relatively empty both times, food took a very long time to come out and neither times did the seafood I ordered seem fresh. They stopped giving starter salads with entrees as well. The food here was delicious. The fettuccine with mushrooms was honestly one of the finest pasta dishes I have ever had. The mushrooms had bite to them. The brown butter sage cream sauce had the most divine blend of herby sage and sherry wine. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. The gnocchi was tender but had the right bite and the sauce was fresh and delicious. We didn't get appetizers - although when I saw the fried calamari and clams in a garlic sauce come to the table next to me I was very jealous and sad we didn't get one. Oddly, the bread is meh. It was little disappointing such a remarkable restaurant has such bad bread. But than needing to up their bread game, it's a winner. We ordered the Veal Osso Buco, and it definitely lives up to the name and hype! This is one best Osso Bucos I have had in a long time. The sauce is fantastic, the meat is super tender and just falls off the bone. You only need a knife to get the delicious maro out of the bone and spread it on some bread. Absolute heaven! The Rigatoni Bolognese is very flavorful! The salad was also nice, fresh, crisp, and with a delicious dressing. I look forward to coming back and trying everything on the menu. read more

Nice, softly lit, roomy room with its own, ample parking lot, our friendly waitress Paula took our order. My wife had their stuffed artichoke which, instead of filling each leaf with breadcrumbs, they cheated by just filling the top. While it did taste good, we felt they were just not willing to put the work in. I had a tri color salad which while cold and big, was swimming in too much dressing. Got to remember to ask for it on the side. I'm not a fan of house wines and their Argentine, $12 glass of Malbec made me a non-fan again as it was so flat and un-exciting I couldn't finish it. My entree of lamb osso buco had a delicious red wine sauce and it's a good thing because the shank was so skinny I was still looking for the meat when the dessert arrived. Definitely not worth $33 if you can't find the meat. We topped it off with a piece of NY cheesecake which, while good, they saw fit to add some of that flat, soppy whipped cream from a pressurized can. Not appetizing at all! So, if you want just an OK meal at an inflated price Osso Buco is for you. read more

You must visit the new Osso Buco Grill in Hillsdale, NJ. Jimmy is the new owner and has made the place so nice. He added an outdoor patio, redid the parking lot....painted and just totally modernized the look. The food is so tasty and Jimmy couldn't be more attentive with everything. He is always buzzing around the restaurant making sure everything is good. The Chicken Due Amici is sooooo tasty. The Osso Buck lives up to it's reputation.The biscotti with cannoli cream is a must. All the desserts are delicious. It is so nice to have a good Italian Restaurant near by. read more

I've come here a few times times before I just always thought it was average but a family member likes it so we went there for a celebration. The place was really busy. They have a small parking lot in the back, but we opted to park across the street and ShopRite and then walk across. The restaurant was really busy and all tables were full and it was kind of tight. We did have a nice round table for 7 people that we all could talk together. They did not rush us and waitress was pretty attentive. Bread that was complementary was just okay, not warm no olive oil on the table. For appetizer we had scallops wrapped in bacon which I think was the best thing that we ate the whole time. One person in our party had the chicken and she said it was really good. That's her favorite, I had the Chilean Seabass special and it was one of the worst pieces of fishes I've ever had. It was very fishy. This is one of my favorite types of fish so I was very disappointed. My husband had the fettuccine with wild mushrooms. It looked really good, but flavor was not there and it was very very bland. For dessert we had chocolate lava cake, and I didn't get any lava. It was just chocolate cake. They have a bar there however they don't give you any list of suggested cocktails which I thought was strange. Our table ordered glass of wine and a mixed drink and it took 20 minutes to receive it. There are other Italian restaurants in the area that would go to this in the future over here. read more

We went for dinner tonight and sat at the bar with Ray L our favorite bartender in the world! Wine and dinner were amazing! We shared the crab cake appetizer with 2 large delicious crab cakes and 3 different sauces. It was the best I have ever had anywhere! We were served a nice salad and I had chicken sorrentino with vegetables and the sauce on the side . It was so good. My friend had an excellent chicken and sausage dish ! Jimmy who bought the place two months ago is a very detailed hands on owner ensuring everyone for a great noteworthy dinning event. My wife and I started with an appetizer of grilled Arthur Avenue Sausage over spinach. Jimmy asked how I liked it and I told him I could go for fifty more orders! It was exceptional as was the bread. My wife ordered the Scallop Special (4 large sea scallops perfectly grilled) which was accompanied by asparagus risotto. Needless to say she was completely satisfied and enjoyed each and every bite. I ordered the Veal Osso Buco. A gigantic veal shank slow braised to perfection that melted in my mouth. It was served with a cabernet sauce with mushrooms and peas over risotto. One of the best Veal Osso Buco I have ever had, and I eaten this in many states as it is one of my favorite meals. We shared blueberry pie which is homemade in house. Outstanding pie crust, it was served warm with vanilla ice cream. We each had regular coffee to go with our Pie a al Mode. We wish Jimmy lots of success and plan to return many times for another outstanding, delicious meal. We highly recommend you give Osso Buco, Hillsdale a try you will not be disappointed. Consistently good. Have come here many times over the years and I highly recommend if you are in the area and want Italian food. Their stuffed artichoke appetizer is our favorite. I recommend their osso bucco, country chicken and chicken parmigiana which are all dishes I have had multiple times and all are delicious. Service is always good. This was my first time here as part of a family Mother's Day dinner. We all arrived for our 4pm dinner reservation. I started with my usual margarita. They offer veal, lamb and pork osso bucco among many other Italian classics. Veal shank osso bucco is my favorite, which I ordered and enjoyed for $25.99. I also enjoyed their calamari appetizer. I enjoyed the house chianti. The total cost for the two of us was $110 less gratuities. Randy A. served our table of eleven family members very effectively. I'll start with the fact that I placed an order on Uber, saw the time it was supposed to be delivered by & when I checked how much longer it would be, it said the restaurant canceled the order. I then called to ask how and why they would cancel the order when the driver was already 5 minutes from their location. I asked why they would cancel my order when they were still open and stated I ordered over a 1/2 hour ago on Uber. The man proceeded to tell me they don't use Uber. I explained to him that the restaurant is on the Uber app and that's where I ordered from. He got kind of nasty and then said he was the owner and he knows what delivery they have and what they don't. He also said they close the restaurant at all different times depending on business. (Bad business move- don't post your hours then because it is misleading to customers) On top of not following your hours, how about don't be rude and condescending to your customers. I read the reviews here on Yelp and I decided to give this place another shot. I was here once a few years ago for my friends baby shower and I remember the food being good. I placed the order again, on UBER, & it said 30-40 minutes for delivery. 45 minutes after I placed the order, I reached out to the Uber driver & he said he was there and they were making the order. Finally, I get the order 1 1/2 hours after ordering, and it's missing an item. I called & they again said they don't use Uber and the driver showed them the order on the phone & showed it was Uber. So my question - how do you not have Uber if you clearly just used it? She said there's no way for a refund, that I would have to call Uber. Well isn't that funny? Uber mentioned yet again for a place that doesn't use it. The most important part, the food was disgusting. What a waste of $50 to go right in the trash. I wouldn't ever try this place again. The only thing I can say positive is that the food was hot... but terrible. Never. Again. The food tonight displays why the reviews are all from years ago. To the owner, stop being rude to your customers and figure out your delivery services. read more

My absolute favorite local spot. The staff is so gracious and welcoming every time we eat here. The food is the most consistently delicious I've had around here and the portions are more than generous. You really get taken care of here from the attentive staff to the salad for the table (I even got complementary desert on my birthday). Their selection of Italian food is classic but also includes some dishes that you wouldn't be able to find just anywhere. Even when restaurants were shut down and I ordered their takeout I remained impressed. They were punctual and the food quality did not suffer at all. It was also a nice perk that they allow you to purchase a bottle of wine with takeout if you choose. I recommend this spot to everyone. read more

Warning: review is not based on food. It's about booking a private event. My family and I planned a surprise 60th birthday party. The date was set and a security deposit (charge card) was give to confirm the reservation. About a two weeks prior to the event, we called to confirm the menu and Randy said that he didn't see our reservation and that a different party was already book. He said he could not accommodate us. Randy couldn't refund the credit card, so he wanted us to come back the next day to refund us in cash. Clearly, we had a reservation because we had left a deposit. The next day, after I picked up our refund , we received a call from Randy. He inform us that he decided to call the confirmation party of 50 people for them to change the date. Miraculously, the original date was once again available for us. Long story short, we had 20 guest and they had 50. It's very likely they choose to host the party with more members. It's also likely, that the confirmation party had to canceled on the restaurant. Regardless to say, we went with another venue. read more

Randy and the team outdid themselves, not only in the quality of the food and the service, but in the very generous portions. Because the specials were so enticing we ordered appetizers (which we usually don't do.) We shared grilled octopus with a vinaigrette and eggplant "meat"balls with fresh, shaved, parmesan reggiano and whipped ricotta cheese. My husband had the braised, boneless, short ribs over paperadelle pasta. I had classic linguine with white clam sauce, but when it came out, I had half a dozen clams in the shell, with a generous sauce made with fresh clams. We couldn't possibly finish everything and took leftovers home. They gave us a complimentary platter of fresh sliced melon and pineapple to finish the meal. read more
