Osteria Ai Osei touts itself as a spot serving up typical dishes common and unique to the city of Verona and came highly recommended by our AirBnb host. My sister and I stopped in for lunch not long after they opened and were immediately seated with no problems. Our waiter did not speak English (but he did speak Spanish which we were able to communicate some using) but he was very friendly and helpful in trying to make menu recommendations to us.
We went with two pasta primi dishes and shared an entree between us. For pasta, we had the tagliatelle with rabbit which was very tasty (a little salty) but would order again. We also ordered the gnocchi with a pumpkin filling, which was good but not as good as the tagliatelle.
For the entree, we followed our waiter's recommendation and ordered a plate that was a hodgepodge of "typical Veronese cuisine." To be honest, I'm not quite certain what exactly we ate but I *think* we had polenta with some type of cooked beef, pork patties, and perhaps chicken. It certainly wasn't our favorite dish of the three.
Of all the places we ate in Verona, this was the best and I would go back again but just order a different entree. read more
