Lucio's is about the same distance walk from Hyde Park, just in the other direction, tucked in a quiet residential area. They don't take reservations so we made sure we were there right at 6 when they opened. Friendly servers stacked some tables up and we enjoyed the outdoor-cafe ambiance watching people in a stroll or arriving at ours and the other little restaurants in the square. The pizza was just what we've come to expect from certified Neopolitano pizzerias. The crust is key: thin, chewy and delicious. They have a wide variety of toppings. We loved the Calzone but just as toppings on the pizza, the Fontina, the arugula-prosciutto one and the white-sauce broccoli. We ordered the 1 meter pizza (which is NOT a diameter like we were thinking - more like 4 pizzas in a row) but it wasn't enough so we ordered another 1/2 meter. The rocket-pear salad was also very good. We finished the equivalent of 6 pizzas between 8 adults and 3 kids. One of us was gluten free so they brought a mozzarella/prosciutto plate. The location was nice. The kids could run around the square while we sat and chatted. It filled up quickly - if you have a big group get there early.

I don't give them out very often but Via Napoli is 5 stars!…read more I've been to their pizzeria in Lane Cove pretty often and I loved it but it was always a bit of a trek to get there. So when I heard they were opening in Surry Hills I was overjoyed! Last night I checked it out and I have to say it's just as good as the original Lane Cove location. When we walked in we were greeted with a hug and kiss from our waiter (my sister loved that) and all the waiters were friendly and helpful. We started with fried calamari which in told was delicious. It looked really crispy and every last piece was eaten so I think that's a good sign. There were 5 of us so we ordered the metre long pizza with 3 toppings - Eggplant, salami and another eggplant without cheese. It was deliciousssss and I am already planning when I can go back. One note - they're pretty strict about modifying pizzas! We asked for one without cheese as my sister can't eat it and luckily they did it but it was a big ask!

I have never seen a restaurant with such good food completely ruin the experience with OVER…read moreservice. This restaurant has two sittings - 6pm (have to be out by 8pm) and 9.30pm. We did the early sitting and it was comically bad. Within seconds of sitting down you're being offered drinks with no menu (aka you have no idea how much you're spending). Then they are quickly offering your appetisers which arrive and they are on a bread board literally a metre long (between four people). Then before you have even finished they want the bread board back for some reason, so shovel the food onto a plate. Then they want you to order the main in a hurry. Within 4 minutes, 5 DIFFERENT waiters came to take our order. 5. That's not an exaggeration. I've never seen anything like it. I started to look around if we were being filmed for a comedy sketch. We were being accosted and what started off funny became pushy and stressful. So we order and the pizza comes (after the antipasto we could barely eat another bite, so just shared a medium pizza), and they're wanting us to finish the wine. Why?! Why can't the wine bottle just sit there?! We will drink it when we damn well like! It was only 7pm! And then they want that pizza board back too, so pizza is shovelled onto plates halfway through. And then the bill comes without us asking for it. You're being told to get out. And of course when the bill arrives you discover what those initial drinks and appetisers cost (short version - a lot!). Let's be clear this over service is not a mistake. They know they are doing it. It's frantic. It's mock Italian (because heaven knows the Italians in Rome certainly don't run their restaurants like this). Its an Italian parody aimed at tourists. It's loud and pushy with a insincere smile. We couldn't wait to get out we felt so uneasy and that's good because by 7.55pm the waiter was at our table with an eftpos machine to usher us out. And what is the great shame is the food is amazing! I couldn't fault it. It was brilliant. But I'll never go back. Of course I could have learnt all this if I had read the reviews!

Pretty interesting combos like the Rumble in the Jungle with pumpkin and green peas, the Popeye Power with hummus, and the Happy Daize with vegan ricotta. They have salads as well but I was too distracted by having more than one vegan option! Food: 4 stars Definitely an experience. Hummus on a pizza, check. Vegan ricotta, check. Deliciousness galore, check check. I had the Popeye Power and subbed the vegan ricotta for the mozzarella. I've never had hummus on a pizza before and was a welcome change. Loved the brininess of the olives w/ the acid of the lemon wedge. The ricotta rounded it out and melded w/ the creaminess of the hummus. Repeatability: 5.0 stars Great for both vegans and meat eaters. However, I don't think it's possible to request for half vegan/half meat pies. It was near closing time when we dropped by and I didn't see any vegan pies out so had to order a whole one. Disclaimer: it takes about 15-20 mins. The pie is b/w a standard U.S. med and large. This place was the only pizza joint in the area that actually stayed open as they stated online. Major plus as we went to three others. It was meant to be. They let us eat at the counter while they cleaned; they even continued to take slice orders. The folks were super nice and the cashier lady (I should have gotten her name) was incredibly helpful.

You can take as much pizza and pasta as you want during the time. Most of the pizzas were very good! They were all unique, but some were a bit salty - and beware of the strong blue cheese! The pastas weren't really that great...pretty basic. For $25, it's worth it for the unique experience, but I probably wouldn't go back. Situated in Brisbane St, the little laneway connecting Oxford St to Harmony Park in Surry Hills, this joint replaces a little Japanese restaurant that had been there for 16 years. As everyone that passed the 6th grade knows, Einstein's Formula for Deliciousness states: Innovative concept + brilliant service + delicious food + amazing value + All You Can Eat = ten truckloads of WIN. Here's how it works: you pay either $20 (unlimited pizza & pasta) or $29 (unlimited pizza or pasta + sides) and sit around a communal table while an affable waiter (we had Jonny) cracks jokes and brings around slices of 'za and steaming spoonfuls of pasta - all different, all delicious - until you've maxed out the elastic on your fat pants and you roll out the door and aim yourself down the hill at your car. Brilliant. I'm coming back, and I'm bringing freaking everyone.
