Fabulous little restaurant nestled in the back streets of a residential neighborhood. You have to try to find it, but when you do- it's well worth it!!! All of our dishes (shared appetizers) and mains were phenomenal. The menu changes often. We had apple risotto- different but in the best way! And the simple linguine ragu hits the spot! Everyone who works here is super friendly and welcoming. Everyone spoke English fluently and was able to help us decide the lovely Italian menu. We came back for dinner, and: Uncia Polenta is to die for!!! You literally get a family portion, so be ready to share. Amazing service and super local joint in Cernobbio!!! Stumbled upon this place walking back to our apartment and saw the whole menu was in Italian only (good sign). They also had run out of certain dishes by our 2pm sign (better sign- means everything made in house fresh). Their green salad was super fresh and flavorful with feta, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and olives. Then my husband and I split the paccheri special which had tuna and a divine butter sauce with capers and olives. All around stunning meal!!! read more

Excellent! Friendly staff, great food, totally clean. We don't speak Italian and the menus are not in English. The waitress took the time to translate everything and make suggestions. Ate in the garden section which was beautiful. Eggplant wrapped buffalo mozzarella cheese as amazing. Polenta had 4 options and the one we had with cheese was delicious. Great little restaurant tucked away in Lake Como. We ended up here at a company dinner. The wine list was solid and the markup was reasonable. Charming atmosphere with a nice outdoor area in the back, although that was primarily used as the smoking area. I had been in Milan a few days and never tried the milanese veal, so this was the place i decided to jump in. The risotto was cooked well and the milan was also a highlight. Overall great service, nice location, and everything was reasonably priced. Great place to great your milanese cuisine. read more

Great ambience - it's a warm and unpretentious spot , with a menu not catering to tourists, which you kind of want sometimes. The menu is in Italian but they will help you out with that if you're an English-speaker. What drew me to the restaurant was walking by the kitchen window one evening and seeing the activity and the food - I knew I had to eat there. I'm glad I did. read more

If you want crappy service that also comes with a bad attitude look no further than this place. We had a reservation for an outside table and when we arrived they informed us that they could not seat us outside because it might rain. This was strange because there must've been 12 other couples sitting outside at that time. When we finally convinced the host to seat us he did so begrudgingly. Then they proceeded to ignore us until we just left. There are plenty of other great restaurants around Lake Como, go to one of those. We went to Harry's Bar around the corner and it was wonderful! read more

Very poor service and bedside manner. We went in yesterday evening based on a high recommendation of the owner of the apartment we were staying in Lake Como. The recommendation for the other restaurant from the night before was excellent so we were looking forward to this one. We walked in and asked for seating for a party of 4. The hostess said they were booked and she also confirmed with the manager. My wife and I looked around in dismay as we counted over 35 seats available both inside and outside!!! read more

Wonderful find during our visit to Lake Como. It's a popular spot with the locals which is always a plus. The tagliatelle and polenta were delicious! The service was great! Angelo was super friendly, spoke perfect English and made wonderful recommendations on food and wine. We sat outside on a beautiful day. It's in a small street, but the place is pretty big. Great dinner, fantastic wait staff, quaint setting. Definitely get the deep fried pizza dough and ham appetizer! Four in our party all ordered very differently--all meals were great! Kitchen opens at 7, but get there early for drinks--this place fills up fast! Very good coverage of allergy/ingredients (if you read Italian)! Staff also very helpful! Nice outdoor seating, large awning protects from sun and rain. Nearby church bells add to the experience. read more

We walked in without a reservation & they squeezed us in. So happy they did, as the food was amazing! The portions were large. Everything we ordered was delicious. The staff were kind. Disappointing we had heard great reviews but upon entering when i asked if they were open for service they said yes but then asked for a table for 2 and was turned away. They clearly had openings. We enjoyed delicious and amazingly flavorful dishes at this lovely Osteria near the shores of Lake Como . We started with a polenta and mushroom appetizer. The polenta tasted as if the corn had been roasted and ground that morning to prepare this amazingly simple dish topped with flavor-infused sautéed mushrooms. The Osso bucco, marinated with fresh herbs, melted in your mouth and was accompanied by a creamy yellow risotto cooked to perfection and drizzled with the osso bucco juices with a hint of lemon. The roasted baby lamb chops were tender and flavorful, accompanied by lightly seasoned braised radicchio, which lost its bitterness under the fire. Reasonably priced wines were listed on the blackboard and complimented our plates wonderfully. read more

The best meal we had in this region. Recommended by the hotel, it is a local restaurant with a somewhat defined menu. We each chose a different appetizer, first dish (which pasta) and a main dish. All dishes were delicious! I had the grilled lamb chops, my husband had the breaded veal for meats but the ravioli and risotto were great. We are definitely going back to try the other dishes. Outstanding small family run Osteria. We had the pork (stracceti di lonza) and carpaccio. The most buttery and tender pork strips I've ever had. The gravy had hints of balsamic, pepper, olive oil and maybe butter. Served with small white potatoes. This restaurant has no menu. Just the daily offerings. I could tell the place is a locals favorite. Great sign for what ended up being one of our best meals in Italy. read more

We had dinner here tonight. Got there right at 7:00pm when the kitchen opened. The place had been open for a while for drinks. Lots of locals there. We were the first to dine for dinner tonight. Menu had no English translations but our waiter helped us out. We had the local grilled fish and filet of beef. Both were good but very little seasoning added. We also had the zucchini side dish (with mint leaves) and a greens salad (true to its word - no veggies in it). We split a dessert - chocolate cake with pears. We had the house wines - not bad and very cheap. I give this place a five star because the service was great and the wait staff was friendly (a rarity in Italy, it seems).
