The staff at the other restaurant seemed sweet so I didn't think too much about it. At Bistrot della Pesa, the waiters were attentive and majority of the customers coming in were locals. We wanted to try the osso bucco with risotto milanese and the veal cutlet since Milan is known for these dishes. These two dishes were the best we had during our entire trip. The caprese was fresh and the risotto of the day ( asparagus) & parmesan eggplant were decent but nothing special. The pricing was a bit steep for what we got.

Well then. The Bistrot della Pesa is a lovely restaurant, complete with white linen tablecloths and hefty flatware, nicely decorated and quite comfortable. The menu is traditional Lombardy (in both Italian and completely translated English) and so I stuck with the classics. A bowl of the Pasta e fagiolo soup ("pasta with beans soup") and then for main course, the Costoletta alla milanese ("Veal cutlet Milanese"). For an extra €5, I decided to have it with the salad (arugula and chopped Roma tomatoes, which was served ON TOP of the cutlet). The soup was super hot and delicious. I'm afraid I not only ate the entire bowl, I used the bread to scoop up the few drops I couldn't get with the spoon. The cutlet was a big portion, cooked properly. Yeah, it's not cheap but it was sincerely delicious. Starter, entree and a half bottle of an excellent red Montepulciano, $70. Milan can be expensive but this was a lovely restaurant with great food. I have no complaint here. [Round number review 10700 overall, 468 of 2019.]

Fantastico! This might actually be the best Italian meal I've ever had. The whole experience was…read morejust one of a kind and I am so thankful to be able to be part of it. Upon arriving to the restaurant, my wife and I had no expectations of the place. We only chose this place because the reviews were good and the tasting menu was pretty cheap. We were greeted by one of the cooks ( one of only two ) and she had a bit of a surprised look on her face. She probably doesn't get too many foreigners because this place is so local. We sat towards the back next to a table of three local Italians. The last table was for a table of 12. The owner spoke no English at all and all the conversations that took place was through one of the local Italian customers. There is no menu at the restaurant. It is always a tasting menu and consists of no red meat. We started off with grilled octopus with pomegranate, then a squid salad. Later on the owner brought out some warm bread, burrata, mussels, clams with spaghetti, branzino, and some dessert. The meal also come with unlimited bottles of wine and ended the meal with a very very strong shot of espresso. Honestly, the food wasn't even the best part of the night (and that's saying a lot because every dish was delicious). The best part was just the interaction with the owner and his customers. Everyone was laughing with him, hugging him, he treated everyone like family. At one point he even started offering people cigarettes and started turning up the music so people could dance. There was nothing but love, family, and food that night and though we stayed there for 4 hours, I wish we could stay there longer.

COME HUNGRY; Silvio the chef / owner essentially makes what he wants for "small" plates, but there's about 7-8 of them. All were fantastic!

We found Happy Chicken (new name, I guess), the quintessential unknown fast foodery, complete with an apathetic cashier, questionable food quality, & prepared foods sadly laying under a heat lamp. Had my heart [attack] set on spicy fried wings but they were 86'd. Of course they were! My expectations were really low which could explain why I found the fried chicken & cheeseburger warm & edible regardless of how they looked. The fries were fresh too. Beware though, you'll need to pay for even 1 packet of ketchup. Drumsticks on the menu are called thighs. They should just probably consider having their menu/advertisements reviewed by a native English speaker so that promotions that offer taco's are done correctly. And the link to their website on their Facebook page took me to a suspicious site twice. The restaurant inside does look newer or recentlyish renovated which gives an illusion of cleanliness but I found that trays & tables were sticky. Like wiped down with a dirty rag kind of sticky. Also, I should probably mention the condition of the men's bathroom. Pretty sure that wasn't chocolate smeared on the wall or so I heard. Also on the upside, they have continuous hours & open late. Yay for full sized tea or soda with combos. They serve traditional Italian breakfast items & coffee. & I gave them that extra star because we didn't die.
