Assorted bruschetta plate and pickled veggies

What do you do when you're sick of pasta after almost two weeks in Italy? Look no further and head on over to Sette Di Vino. It's a very small restaurant (reservation only because they are usually booked) in a small square in Pienza. They do not serve pizza or pasta here but a variety of small plates that are local to the region. It was such a breath of fresh air after all the heavy pastas we had been eating. We ordered the bruschetta assortment plate, the chicory salad, the tomato and burrata, and the pickled veggies. All of them were light and fresh and packed with so much flavor. They only have table wine here and service is typical Italian so make sure you try to catch a server when they are running from the kitchen to various tables serving food. But it's worth stopping by. Even for a light pre dinner before a pasta dinner (which me may or may not have done)

    Gluten free bean soup

Dinner in Pienza. During researching the town and it's food, I came across Osteria Sette di Vino. Reviews said to let the owner order for you and that they could work with a gluten allergy. Perfect recommendations from the owner! His English was broken, but thanks to Google Translator, I was able to express my dietary concerns. The first course was an assortment of bruschetta on gluten free bread - traditional with tomato & olive oil, ricotta cheese, and melted cheese. They were all REALLY good. The second course was bean soup with gluten free bread for dipping. Also scrumptious. The third course was gluten free toast with a local melted buttery cheese. Really cool, authentic place. I'd recommend going (make a reservation)! Pienza was beautiful and relaxing.

Loved it! So delicious and authentic! One of my best meals of my trip! Bought as much of their olive oil as was possible!

Such a lovely hidden find in the quaint hill town of Siena! We had a little trouble locating it in…read morethe alley on a rainy day, but the interior had a cute interior and covered patio, where we sat. After a few spritzes (15 euro each), we split an osso buco raviolo with seared fois gras and truffle flakes which was delicious and filling. We were hunkering for something other than pasta, pizza or steak, so had the delicious hamburger with pecorino cheese, served perfectly rare (20). It came with nice French fries and hit the spot. We were seated next to the owner, a pleasant New Yorker with the cutest dachound Julietta. The restaurant is a bit more expensive than the trattorias but well worth it.

Everyone will tell you to order the burger here, and they're absolutely right. Surprisingly, the…read morebest burger I've ever eaten was the Bandita Burger at this Pienza restaurant. While the beef patty itself is exceptional, what elevates this dish is the generous layer of melted pecorino cheese on top. The truffle butter pasta is equally outstanding. The pasta tastes unmistakably fresh and handmade, with rich truffle butter coating every strand perfectly. Together, these two dishes easily satisfy two diners, especially since the burger comes with a side of fries. La Bandita Townhouse is a must-visit when in Pienza. Just remember to make a reservation in advance, particularly for dinner service.
