We searched around and noted Spadaforte was crowded at lunch and now sold out for a private event in the evening. We are going to Florence tomorrow and this place looks great and we want to eat here. I was told no three times by the manager, before one more compliment about the restaurant got us a table added almost in the street for a picturesque evening. We looked around to see what everyone was having and yes, asked several people what they were enjoying. We finally settled on the ragu bianco with fresh homemade pasta, veal, pork, sausage, garlic and rosemary. It was meaty, chewy pasta, nicely blended spices and the perfect amount. A very good and hearty dish. A Margherite pizza accompanied our order with light and tasty sauce, good cheese and good blend of light seasoning that did not steal the show. A really good choice. The staff here is lovely with everyone is hustling and working hard. A quick aside: While we were eating in the square, siren went off, drums were banging, whistles were blowing, 200 noisy people marched around the square with banners and flags, peacefully. We asked our beautiful young waitress what is going on. She explained this neighborhood won the last Palio di Siena and they were here to let everyone know that they were the champs. A cool tradition and only added to our perfect evening. To the manager who allowed us to dine with the reserved group, THANK YOU as it was one our most memorable evenings in Sienna and in Italy.

I ordered a hamburger, and from the first bite it had a strong fish smell and taste. A hamburger should never smell like fish. I brought it to the staff's attention and sent it back, expecting at least an apology or an attempt to make things right. Instead, they did absolutely nothing. No replacement, no accommodation, no concern whatsoever. To make matters worse, the pricing feels deceptive. Their advertised combo meal (hamburger, fries, and a can of soda) costs €14. However, the hamburger that already comes with fries costs €9, and a can of soda costs €3.50, which totals only €12.50 if ordered separately. Apparently, you pay an extra €1.50 for the privilege of ordering the "combo." Make that make sense. "La Favorita" translates to "the favorite," but this place is nobody's favorite. If you're looking for a hamburger that tastes like fish, poor customer service, and confusing pricing, then you've found your spot. Siena has so many wonderful restaurants and places to eat. Do yourself a favor and choose literally almost anywhere else.

Upon arriving, they told us that we could not sit outside any longer because they gave our table away. They then sat us inside in a dark, stuffy corner, which was super hot and ruined the mood. They also denied telling my friend that they told her she could sit outside and tried to gaslight her. I will say the food was good but you can get pizza just as good with better service elsewhere. One of my friends had to wait 20+ minutes after all of us got our pizzas to get hers. She asked the staff about it multiple times and they didn't seem to care. Overall, the staff was rude, made no attempt to remedy the situation by moving us outside later or offering complementary food or drink, and what should have been a lovely last dinner in Siena was ruined.
