BEWARE THIS FALSE RESULT DOCTOR !!!! "I had a horrible experience with Dr. Ostoya During my prenatal care, I was given incorrect results for an important test! My nurse was Mexican , and iam mixed biracial and iam married to a Mexican and it was obvious she was extremely bothered and jealous about that . Dr Ostoya on the other hand just kept pushing test after test that wasn't even necessary which caused unnecessary stress and confusion. When I sought clarification, I felt my concerns weren't taken seriously. Accurate information and communication are critical in prenatal care, and this experience left me feeling unsupported. I seen a review on google about a women saying the SAME thing hoe he gives you incorrect test results ! I found a new doctor and all my test results came back negative which me and my husband where very happy about that . I hope this never happens to anyone else ! I feel so bad if it would . Not sure why he's not already @ 5 stars this man is god sent! I started my care with Ostoya at 20ish weeks & from the first visit I could tell he was not just a doctor but a person who cares about each and everyone of his patients! He is so nice, cracked jokes & almost acts like your dad sometimes. I gave birth yesterday via c-section ( she was 9lbs 3oz & didn't fit down ) , he care reassuring me after pushing for 2 hrs that it's okay that I want a c section & I had done all I could do and that he would take over from here. 2hrs later I came to and my husband was showing me my baby girl for the first time! Ostoya is the best doctor I could have asked for! He saved my life and my babies life. He is the reason my baby is so healthy. At 34 weeks I was preeclamptic (more or less high blood pressure causing seizures and strokes) very serious and could easily turn life threatening for mom and baby. I went into his office for an appointment my blood pressure was 180/120 (very bad) and was immediately admitted to the hospital. Given medication for my BP and also given a steroid for my baby to help his lungs grow. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and got to 36 weeks and 4 days before my BP got worse and I started to become unstable, liver started shutting down, blood platelets dropping fast (meaning that my blood would not be able to clot like it's supposed to and ultimately I would have bleed out during child birth (or c-section)) ostoya asked me what I wanted. And even though it might have been a little more dangerous he gave me the chance to be induced and have my water broken and try to get the baby out naturally which didn't work as I wouldn't dilate past 3cm. We would up having to do a c-section. And ostoya was amazing through doing it. Got me in and ready. Walked me through the process as he himself wheeled me into the operating room! I was awake the whole time. He was quick, amazing and the scar seems to be really small. Not very visible. And his care after was amazing too. I was so happy to see him the next day and too be feeling so much better and to be off the medication. He was absolutely amazing. And his care after the birth has been amazing. I have been so blessed with my baby (went through infertility to get pregnant with hi. That ostoya did assist in) and for the end of the pregnancy to be so bad I'm so happy to have my baby. He was preterm born at 36/4 at 4lbs 14oz. But he was healthy and needed no NICU care due to the steps doctor ostoya put in to make sure his lungs where mature and he stayed in me as long as possible! I chose to see him after reading the great reviews. I was having some pain, so I wanted to see a specialist. After doing some lab work and ultrasounds, he told me everything looked "good" , and he didn't have an explanation. He told me we had 2 options for the pain. I could either take hormonal medications to stop my periods which could help, or I could have a hysterectomy. I'm not even 40 years old and he's suggesting some pretty extreme procedures! I asked him if there was anything less extreme, but he didn't have an answer. Needless to say, I decided not to go forward with him as there had to be other things we could try before terminating my periods or having a hysterectomy! The best part came a week later though. I got a call from his office stating that their copy of my insurance card wasn't clear. Now, I had filled out all the paperwork, so they had my insurance information. I immediately faxed my cards over. And called them. They said they never got it, so I faxed again. I called again and they said their fax was down but they would call me if they needed anything else. I never got any other calls. About a week later I got an $800 LabCorp bill. I called Dr. Ostoya's office for help but they said there wasn't anything I could do. I wish I had written down the girl's name so I could write it here. So, I've had to go back and forth with LabCorp to bill my insurance. I finally got someone on the phone in their billing department and they told me that my member ID was different than what was on my card. I asked them how they knew my member ID since it wasn't on my card. The LabCorp rep told me that they had the member ID on the forms Dr. Ostoya's office sent to them. I was surprised and asked why they didn't bill my insurance in the first place. The best part, "Dr. Ostoya's office sent in the paperwork but wrote that the patient should be billed.". Unbelievable! So Dr. Ostoya's office had my info but wanted me to be billed personally. It's been such a hassle dealing with LabCorp. I'm a working mom and don't have a lot of free time. This has been an awful experience. I wouldn't recommend him to any of my loved ones. What a unprofessional joke of a doctor. read more

Dr. Ostoya's gifted hands worked through God's plan. I had started to feel my baby kick and move less at 37 weeks so I told Dr. Ostoya. On Thursday July 2nd, he sent me to the hospital for a non-stress test and special ultrasound...at that time everything with baby looked normal. However, Dr. Ostoya had me go for a follow-up 5 days later on Tuesday July 7th instead of the usual weekly f/u. I was at his office doing another non-stress test and from there was sent immediately to hospital based on the results. A normal baby's heart rate during pregnancy is suppose to be 120-150bpm. My baby's was at 60bpm for about 3-4 minutes while I was having a contraction. This happens when the cord is bent in some way and the baby isn't getting enough oxygen. This is very dangerous and could result in stillbirth which is why I was rushed for an emergency c-section. Dr. Ostoya is a miracle worker and saved my baby! Thanks to him and his quality of care I have a healthy newborn! We are so blessed and thankful that although he was born 2 weeks early he is healthy and I'm recovering well! This doctor noted that at my age (41) multiple times during a routine papsmear that I should look into freezing my eggs. Asked about my husband and my sexual dynamic. I feel upon leaving that office (note: during a papsmear he has a lady assistant at his side also in view of your vagina.) dirty and like there was zero, yes zero respect held for my nakedness and my reproductive choices. When I had my first child, I've been seeing Dr. Ostoya, but during my second pregnancy, it was horrible. Doc spoke and treat me as if I were a new patient and then shortly after found out that I was a returning patient. My two appointments got pushed back and rescheduled so I had to work around my schedule for it. On one of my appointment, the service took so long, no explanation about what's going on. Waited over an hour but I couldn't wait any longer because I had other places to be at. My husband even said how he didn't like how the doc handle things around the office. I decided to switch OB since Dr. Ostoya's office did not meet my expectation of professionalism. When I went to see my new doctor, they didn't receive my medical records from the Dr. Ostoya's office, which was a month ago when I signed a medical release form. That delayed my whole appointment to where I waited over two hours at the new location. Finally, my new doctor asked me how long have I had cystic fibrosis. To my surprise, I was never told I had cystic fibrosis. The doctor looked at the paperwork again and said that it was clearly written on there. I glanced over the paperwork and realized the DOB wasn't me. Somehow I recognized that DOB and it was a relative of mine and I never knew she had cystic fibrosis. I was furious that they sent my relative's medical records without double checking and learning that my relative have that disease made me feel even more uncomfortable that it wasn't through her that I'm hearing it from, but the doctor. I thought that was very unprofessional and untrustworthy on their part. So because Asian people have similar names, they're just going to based it off on that instead of checking my other personal information before submitting. This is definitely racial discrimination. They're giving out other people's information freely and now I don't feel safe that they may send other people my information as well. read more

I have been with Dr. Ostoya since Jan 2018. He provided prenatal care throughout my whole pregnancy. He was concerned about my thyroid and sent me out for ultrasounds and blood work just to make sure everything was ok. He referred me out to see a specialist because of my age just to make sure everything was ok with baby. As the other review stated, Dr. Ostoya is very thorough and can be blunt at times but he gets the job done. He preformed my c-section so perfectly I couldn't have asked for more perfect OB. I decided to go to Dr. Ostoya's office after reading all the great review. My visits were nothing like everyone says. Very first visit after I checked in they rescheduled me. I'm full time working mom and it was hard for me to reschedule my appointments. So the office decided they can see after hours the same day. So I waited and waited. After 1.5 hour later they took me to the back. By this time it is now 7pm. Dr. Ostoya decided he wants me to get some lab work done. Once I did, I would see him and send me back to the lab because he forgot or his staff forgot to mark what they wanted me to get done. This happened about 4 times, I had to get lab work for differents things when I could have all of them tested at the same time. 2 times I went in for an appointment and he didnt remember why he scheduled me to come in. His staff is not very friendly either. After sticking it out for a year I had to find a new doctor. Especially after they told me they have not been taking my insurance anymore. So I recieved a bill for almost $1200 for 3 months worth of visits. I had concerns and he seem to not know what was going on even after lab tests. He wanted to put me on certain medicines which you cannot take more than 6 months. I was on month 5 and he said he's going prescribe me the meds for 3 more month. So that made me feel like he wanted to put me at risk. I found a new doctor and told my new doctor what Dr. Ostoya was doing. My new doctor was in shock and couldn't believe he was still in business. I definitely regret staying so long with Dr. Ostoya thinking he could help me it even cared about my well being. read more

Dr. Ostoya delivered both of my daughters, one came on a holiday, the other in the middle of the night. He was not the on call doctor either of those times but made sure that he was there for both to make sure baby and mama made it through safely. Sometimes Dr. Ostoya can seem a little rough around the edges, as he doesn't sugar coat anything and tells you exactly how it is...sometimes he doesn't have the best bedside manner but I appreciate his honesty, knowledge and expertise. Hes extremely thorough too, if he feels there may be a chance something may be wrong, he will make sure it is ruled out instead of assuming all is probably well. I was referred to Ostoya by my former OBGYN due to a problem with my insurance. Called ahead of time about an hour before my appt and asked if I could bring my significant other with me and the lady I spoke too at the front desk told me no only scheduled patients are allowed to come and to please wear a mask and I said no problem! I show up and see nothing BUT couples in this OB's office..and not only just couples but couples that aren't wearing masks??? Are you serious? THEY LITERALLY HAVE SIGNS POSTED ON THE FRONT SAYING, "Only scheduled patients allowed and masks to be worn at all times." The ladies at the front desk didn't care to do their own job. I finally got called back and the worker didn't ask me how I was doing at all, pointed in the direction of my room and told me to go there after leaving a urine sample. I finally ask her why nobody was enforcing the rules and why I was put at risk today? Assistant tries to tell me significant others are allowed in the waiting room and has nothing to say about them not wearing masks. I happily tell her there's literally a sign posted contradicting what you're telling me and she has nothing to say. Tells me to bring it up with the doctor then. Doctor Ostoya comes in and tells me it's " too hot" for our significant others to wait in their cars..not that that was the issue it's the fact they're not wearing masks? He ends our appointment telling me I'm overweight and doesn't ask me what I've been eating or advise me what I should be eating either. Doesn't even tell me to have a nice day. As first time parents to be, my husband and I had our first appointment here with Dr. Ostoya. I received a call at work asking us to come early, so I left early and made it about 15 minutes early to our scheduled appt time. We waited an hour to be called back. Then were called back to another room to wait in, where we spent another 15-20 minutes. I was very surprised that we never received a simple apology or "sorry for the wait." When we finally saw the doctor, he spent no longer than 5 minutes with us. He did a transvaginal ultrasound and confirmed the pregnancy and heartbeat, but was so fast that we didn't even get to hear it. He asked barely any questions and as he was leaving the room I had to stop him to ask about my class C medications I've been taking. He didn't offer any new mother education or anything. I left feeling very bummed and like this isn't normal for an OB appt. I asked some friends and they said that this was not normal. I decided to give this office another shot and scheduled an appt. They called the day before and rescheduled this appointment, they then called day of to again cancel this appointment. Mind you, we were asked to come back within 10 days and we are now already at 2 weeks and they canceled. I was pretty upset so Dr. Ostoya himself called me and explained that he can't keep his staff there until 4pm for my scheduled appointment as they canceled the other appointments that day. They asked that I come early, but I was at work. He told me that they can no longer see me at the 4pm time related time COVID, but this is the reason I chose this office. He went on a rant that my manager needs to let me leave to come on my lunch break the next day and didn't believe me when I said I have no sick time or PTO to use (I'm an agency nurse). Long story short, I cancelled my lunch time appointment the next day and went with another doctor and couldn't be any happier with my choice. Maybe Dr. Ostoya just wasn't a good fit for me, doesn't mean he's not a great doctor. read more

I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Ostoya when I did. Originally, my OB was with Kaiser during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Long story short, my health coverage stopped, so I was in need of finding a new OB. I read his reviews online and decided to give him a shot. Prior to my first visit I was really nervous meeting him, as it would be too late to change doctors 30 weeks into my pregnancy. Upon meeting him, I was very pleased with how thorough he was during the exam. He took his time, answered my questions and also picked up on underlying health issues my previous OB had missed. He then ordered the necessary testing and blood work to ensure the safety for both me and my baby. Throughout the remainder of my pregnancy Ostoya was very attentive and monitored me twice a week for polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid). Towards the last weeks of my pregnancy it became extremely difficult for me to breathe with all the extra fluid and baby measuring ahead of his due date. Ostoya then gave me the option to have a c section to minimize health risks for both me and baby. I was very nervous to have a c section but ultimately knew I was in good hands. Ostoya did an amazing job! I'm 3 weeks Postpartum and my scar is healing nicely (it's very clean and hardly noticeable). FYI Ostoya is known to be the best at c sections (the nurses at the hospital said that during my stay). I just had my follow up with him today and I couldn't be more grateful to have him deliver my first baby! If you are looking for an OB I highly recommend him. With my latest pregnancy, Dr. Ostoya visited me at the hospital every day of my 4 day hospital stay to ensure I was doing okay. Dr. Ostoya has been my OB for 9 years I couldn't imagine having anyone else. My first pregnancy I had no complications, my second one was high risk when my water broke at 26 weeks. I was in the hospital for a month until I had to have an emergency c section at 33 weeks, if he wasn't there or with me throughout my pregnancy I don't know how I would be mentally or physically. He checked on me and my baby everyday I was in the hospital and was always there when I needed. He is the greatest blessing, I am forever grateful.
