I had my appointment for paperwork and I was there 20 mins, they charged me for an hour and a half. Every email back and forth requesting to cancel they charged me for. If I could give zero stars I would. They took over a year just to get my case to court. I had to update list files for them on several occasions. They took so long I even had to retake a test I needed to complete the process. They then proceeded to raise my monthly agreed to pay back amount 3 times. The final raise would have me paying about 4K more than the entire debt amount. This place is a total sales operation and judging by the low rating I'm not the only one they treat this way. To top it off the day of hearing when I mentioned we didn't have the paperwork needed again because of this firm when to Judge asked for it. I had filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy last summer with Oswalt law group. We set up payment arrangements of 150 per month, which they automatically took out of my account. We then had to change to chapter 13, to try and save our home... immediately they asked for an extra $536, which we gave them the sane day. When it was time to take them all the paperwork needed, they charged us another $310 for the filing fee. Due to situations that arose, we chose not to file Bankruptcy at all. When we first went in we spoke to a paralegal that spoke Spanish, we asked him, that what would happen if we chose to cancel. He said to us, that it would be a small fee, like $300 for paperwork fees, but that we would get everything back. Now that we didn't go thru with the whole bankruptcy, they said that since we paid monthly, they would keep $75 for every month that we paid the $150!! These people lie to Spanish speaking people, in our own language to get you in,and have you believe they are good people. Now that everything has been cancelled I called and spoke to a Brian Timpani, to see where is our check. He was very, very rude to me, and said they are only giving us back $310!!!! I kept asking why such a small amount, and all he kept raising his voice saying that I signed the paperwork, that did I not read it?? Very rude to me. They sent over the paperwork on docu sign, at 4:57pm, and told me to just sign quickly, because he had to get it on by 5:pm!!! Mr. Timpani was very rude, not explaining properly, to a 51 year old, that has beginner of alzheimers, and severe vertigo, anxiety, etc... The staff at Oswalt are very professional, very friendly and always willing to help. Where we were disappointed was when we went to our free consultation. If the person was more educated on Chapter 13 bankruptcy and told us what our monthly payments would be closer to, then we would never had gone further in process. We were told "How does $350 a month sound" and of course we figured it would be about double that which we would have been fine with. He also said a few other things that were incorrect but the biggest issue was the monthly figure estimate. Well, we got our paperwork back and the payment was almost 4X that! Had we known it was going to be that high, we NEVER would have paid them the $2500 to move forward. We decided to not go further since it made no sense to us but ended up losing $1500 because of this. Ms. Oswalt was very fair and did reimburse us for unearned costs but we were extremely disappointed with what happened. I will definitely say that her staff was wonderful and I would recommend them but do your homework and ask a lot of questions up front before you sign on. read more
