Unlike its rather disappointing sister restaurant next door, Otello café is actually rather satisfying. Having previously sighed through a distinctly bland excuse for an Italian meal next door, I was rather apprehensive before my visit to Otello Café. Thankfully it didn't disappoint. The reason for its success could be down to the presence of 9Bar, creating hot competition and thus driving up standards in both places. Whatever the competition, however, you feel as though Otello Café was always destined to do much better than its aforementioned ailing sibling.
The décor is light and welcoming and the staff are really friendly. In addition the food is pretty good and won't cost you too much, as they offer such good deals as the two-course lunch special at £9.95 pp. Whether you need a coffee and a sit down or a full meal rest assured you'll be very satisfied. It's not the best place around but it certainly does the job. read more
