Original surgery X-ray where pin on leg was too big to extend leg.
    Cait S.

DO NOT GO HERE. Don't go to this place even if it's the only place open within 50 miles! ... Don't make the mistake I did! They botched my dogs leg really bad. The place was disgusting and unsanitary when I brought him in. It smelled horribly of cat urine, the floor was sticky with newspaper stuck everywhere to it, and the waiting area/reception area was destroyed by cats. I should've walked right out. But I was desperate. My dog had broken his leg on a Saturday afternoon, and I went there because they were the only place that said they were open online, and his normal vet was too booked. I was told that if I didn't leave him in their care then he could bleed out and die. With that threat, I left him on a Saturday afternoon and was promised that they would do surgery first thing Monday morning. Multiple calls on Monday and a trip out they had lied to me all day saying he was being "prepped for surgery", which hadn't been done by the time they closed. I went in the next morning right when they opened (Tuesday) to take him to a more reputable vet, and was told that I couldn't move him because he had open wounds because they had opened him up the night before! When I looked at him he was drugged up and had poop on his leg! When I notified them of it they told me it was "wet chow". Even if they did feed a dog before surgery, (which is usually against protocol) wouldn't it still be unsanitary to have food on open wounds? Once again I was forced to leave him there. They used too large of a pin in my dogs leg after reassuring me they knew what they were doing. When I went to my checkup appointment to have them look at my dogs leg, staples were taken out and no xrays were taken after a month to see how he had healed. When I asked why there was no X-ray, they said their business with me was done the second I walked out the door. A week later, his leg was bulging out so I decided to get a second opinion. After an X-ray, it was confirmed that the pin they put in was too big, and was pushing against his joints. The fracture was even worse. I had to have a second surgery done and the pin had to be removed. It was so big he couldn't extend his leg. When I contacted Ottawa Veterinary Clinic I was called stupid and told everything was my opinion. This place is dishonest, unprofessional, and incompetent. They also don't guarantee their work once you pay them.

Smelled like dead animals. Used cloth hand towels. Alcohol stored in container handwritten label. Marseilles location similarly bad

After leaving my review he (Christian McCoy) called me and asked me to remove my review and after I told him I wouldn't be removing it he cussed me and told me to go F*ck myself several times. I will say the staff at the Ottawa location were great with my baby but he did get an infestation of mites and is currently on 3 meds for it. The only place hes ever been is home and at the gold leash. He stayed there 3 nights and about 2 1/2 weeks later his symptoms started. I will never take my dog back to this facility.

We were very excited to have our labradoodle stay here. The issue was that kennel consisted of a series of outdoor / indoor cages with their bull mastiffs in parallel chain linked cages. As we pulled up, the dogs were barking and biting at each other though the fences. This might be totally fine if your dog mostly lives outside and is used to being around large barking dogs. This is not the case with our coddled, living room dwelling labradoodle. The reason I gave three stars is that there was no was for us to know this before we pulled up.

I am currently serving in the Army, and for the last three consecutive reunions, training, deployments, or other responsibilities have kept me from seeing my extended family. My fiancée and I have two young puppies, and we wanted to make sure that they were boarded in a comfortable facility close to the reunion. A quick Google search showed me that the Paws Here pet resort in Oglesby fit the bill. The problem was that they closed at six PM even though it was located at a private residence. My chain of command promised that we would be released at noon on Friday, giving me ample time to get there, but nonetheless, I called to verify that we could drop our dogs off later if necessary. Long story short, one of my Soldiers was having a pay issue, and I was forced to stay at work later than expected so that he and his family could pay their bills that weekend. Once we were on the road, we called Paws Here to let them know that we would be coming in late, and the underlying circumstances therein. Their tone was markedly different. They got back to us an hour later to tell us that we would have to wait till 0830 the next day to drop off our dogs, thereby throwing a huge wrench into our plans. We were debating between sleeping in shifts with the dogs in the parking lot, driving to a relative's house 40 minutes north of the park, or finding a different hotel that allowed pets when my uncle located the Starved Rock Pet Resort. We called them and let them know about our situation. We received clear, concise directions to their facility, and dropped our dogs off around 930 PM. The owners were very kind, and asked numerous questions about our dogs' individual behavioral quirks. Their facility was very clean and well maintained, and we felt very comfortable leaving our dogs there. The owner called us twice the next day to let us know that our dogs were settling in nicely. When we picked them up on Sunday morning, our dogs were relaxed and happy. Overall, it was a great experience for both us and our dogs. Other relatives of mine are now considering boarding their dogs here rather than leaving them at home. Guess which of the two pet boarding facilities they will be using?

So I had a lot of questions that they apparently didn't like, so they called my wife and was very rude telling her that they no longer want my dog as a patient. My wife already put money down, had the surgery date set up and we paid for the other appointments. They care more about getting even with me than they do with taking care of my dog or my wife because I questioned the flu vaccination policy. Now we have to take time to find another veterinary, pay for more visits while my dog suffers because they did not like my questions.

If their first-line recommendations aren't affordable for us or won't work for whatever reason, they take it into consideration and offer a second option. I don't leave many reviews, but saw all the negative ones here and wanted to offer up my own experience, which has been great.
