I made an appointment 7 days prior for a tire changeover from winter to summer tires (I wish I could've done it sooner). A couple of days before my appointment, I called and asked if they could add-on an electrical problem with a headlight and change the headlight and they said yes. I brought my car in a 1/2 hour early. They kept it for over 6 hours before Dennis telephoned me to say they didn't get to work on it because of working on cars from yesterday... really? He apologized and said they could start on it first thing Monday morning. I picked up my car and tires and told Dennis I was very disappointed in being treated this way and I asked if all their customers were treated this way - especially since I made the appointment 7 days prior. Dennis said well, they did have "other" cars to work on... how smug of him. Were the "other" cars on the schedule prior to mine... how ridiculous. This was so disrespectful to me that now, I will not disrespect myself by returning to Hampton Auto Repair to give them my business. It was just a few months ago that I spent over $1,000 there and was a regular customer, but no more. By the way, if I performed My job in this manner there would be consequences. I went there to have an unusual noise checked out. I felt that paying him, $90, for his time and effort was a good decision. As it turns out.....NOT a good decision at all! He diagnosed the noise as the flywheel between the engine and transmission needing to be replaced. In addition, he also listed his needed repairs that were unrelated to my concern. They were axles, steering linkage and suspension parts, and an oil change. He gave an estimate of $3,086 for the cited repairs and I just had the oil changed 1 month ago. I was not told that he would be publicizing my vehicle's VIN and the cited repairs online for anyone (including car dealers) with access to Car-fax to see. When you go to trade in your car or truck after Dale Stroebel gives you an estimate, even if he does not do any work on your car, this information will be published! He told me this after the fact, and after I had visited a car dealership. There was no up front disclosure regarding his use of the information that he gleaned by inspecting my car.

He offered to buy car for scrap. now he has fixed the car and is selling it at his business for $3,000. said he put $1500.00 in it. this is weeks after he said was unfixable. What the dealership…read moreclaimed was 'aftermarket exhaust' was actually just exhaust that was loud because it was so rusted. It literally fell off 15 miles from the dealership . The mechanics pointed out that the brakes were also on the brink of failure. They did a top notch job (with beautiful welds!) on the exhaust and brakes all around in what has to be record time...and we were a walk-in! We were 3 hrs from home in an unfamiliar area with a broken down vehicle and Muffler Man saved our butts! Definitely would recommend to a friend! Thanks guys!
