My sons and I enjoy going north to enjoy the woods and open fields of Michigan's thumb area. The hunting and fishing in this area is very plentiful and the farmers and people in this area are friendly and helpful. This was my first time visiting Outback Meat Processing. This is a great place to stop in and grab some local snacks, meats and deserts. The inside of the store is well designed in the log cabin design. Lots of space to walk around and shop for great tasting treats. There jerky, cheese, cracker and sausage tasting table was really good. What a great display for the customers to try and taste there fresh made goods. We had a successful hunt the evening we stopped in at Outback. We dropped off the deer we tagged and the processing fee for butchering was very reasonable. This is a family business run by a husband and wife. They're both really friendly and genuinely someone I'll be sure to give all my business too in the future. read more

Brats I am not a fan. Breakfast sausage and bacon was amazingly good. Getting animals butchered is another story. The bacon is flavorless. Absolutely zero taste. Very bland. Also our order was not followed well and we did not get our organs back. All in all great Place to buy meat. Cold cuts prices are very reasonable. I will most likely never have an animal butchered here again. But will come in to buy other food. read more

I did not get the deer that I took in to get processed back. The one I took in was a decent sized 2.5yr. buck. Judging from the backstraps size I got back indicated a small doe perhaps (tenderlions I cut out were almost the same size as the backstraps I got back!). Every time I go to the freezer to get another package I get more upset because; 1, my wife refuses to eat or cook the venison because she doesn't know where it came from (condition, disease) 2, I now have to take time to cook it and stress over the origin of the venison. 3, I'm torn about tossing the remainder of it against my respect for "God's gifts". Mistakes happen but I recommend that folks avoid taking deer to get processed here if they are concerned about the possibility of getting back venison that could possibly be diseased, a valid concern these days! My follow up discussion with them regarding this matter resulted in a poo-pah attitude towards my concerns and patronage. read more
