If you think your kids have even the slightest interest in this Pirate Adventure - DO IT! My…read morehusband and I took our 6 year old niece and nephew, and they had a BLAST! If you have a lot of people going along, it can get pricey, but for us, it was worth every penny and the hour long drive down from the northern end of the island. The kids start off with a pirate tattoo - our little mateys decided on "PIRATES!" knuckle tattoos and a seashell - and getting dressed up in pirate garb. There are accessories too for purchase, but we told our niece and nephew that we could do ice cream after if they forego the swords. Thank God, they chose wisely. At that point, adult chaperones, just sit back, relax, and take some picture, because the crew takes care of everything. They sneak the kids through town onto the boat and take them through an adventure complete with finding a treasure map, firing water cannons at Stinky Pete the pirate, and sharing the booty. In reality, you're driving around in circles, and the ship's captain will have a few fun asides for the adults, but the kids really buy into it, and the crew is top notch. They really get into it, which I believe is saying something for these guys putting on multiple shows a day, many times a week.

6/24/20   This…read moremorning I had a chance to ride on a friend's private plane. Here at Manteo Airport, you can have private airplanes, $15 tours our do sky diving....sorry parachuting.  But John, what's the difference? In short, "the main difference between skydiving and parachuting is that in skydiving, we freefall before deploying our parachutes, and in parachuting, we deploy the parachute straight away." Carl took us on a free tour of the area.  I saw the Ocracoke Lighthouse from the air, but now I feel it was the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse because of the black strips.  If I am wrong, than it is the  Bodie Island Lighthouse. Either way, I want to visit this lighthouse, because it is one I have not visited yet. Flying inside of the plane was one of the most relaxing experiences I have had.  I enjoyed hearing the lingo of the pilot and radio tower.  It's a world with a world when you start cracking jokes with the tower. I also noticed how warm the plane got when we were sightseeing.  If we ever jump out of an airplane...and we will, I enjoy doing it with my wife. Seeing the people from 2,500 feet up is an amazing experience.   Jumping out of an airplane from that height will be a test of all tests...this far Great times for 35 minutes of flying.

Wanted a refund, but the door was shut and loud music was playing inside. Ended up refreezing the water at home and it made pretty good ice. Nothing special! Restrooms were exceptionally clean, except for a "you know what" in the sink. If you go, double check your ice!
