The whole family enjoyed-both adults and kids. We travel quite a bit but never seen anything like that especially when our home is Chicago. I'd also like to note the woman leading the tour was so sweet, knowledgeable, and very interactive with our kids and others but definitely a great face to the business. We hope to visit in future and this will be on our list again! Wishing we had more time for the treasure boxes! Thank you again for the unique experience.

Guide Chandler was the best, hands down!!!

This was a great experience. Decided to do something with my grand kids ages 10 & 2. The booking and location to meet was close and simple. Went not knowing what to expect and WOW was It an experience. The kids loved It and the adults loved just as much. I looked and my grandkids great grand parents were running around with them pointing and yelling here they go as everyone was running to catch them. I would highly recommend for everyone young and old!!!

We had such a good time. My 8 year old son loved it. He caught about 20-25 crabs. Definitely worth it for a fun time!

The "Captain" read the clues as the boys listened closely.

Highly recommend. Two young boys (ages 9, 6) loved the scavenger hunt. I think it took the boys about 1.5 hours to complete all the clues. They never lost interest, followed the rules easily, and were so proud to solve the last clue finding the treasure chest. We chose the theme "Outrageous Ocean" because one of the boys was studying a unit on animal adaptations. Our Captain happened to have a pirate flag and a hilarious pirate voice. These are just two of the many photos and videos we took. The best comment after the activity, one of the boys asked if we could do a scavenger hunt every day they were here. The size of the treasure chest is fairly big. I assumed it would be smaller, but it was pretty big (see pic). The boys had to work together to carry it. However, I was able to easily carry it, so it's not too heavy. For the grown ups, it was really fun to watch the boys listen and think about the clues. It was fun to see them searching for the clues (none were too hard, but sometimes they just didn't see it). I would compare it to a sort of Easter egg hunt with all the work (except whoever plays the Captain & placing the clues) is done for you. Jim from Ghost Crab Quest was wonderful to work with. The communication about delivery and pickup was just right. We originally planned to do the scavenger hunt in the morning, but ended up doing it around 7:30 PM. With Jim's clear instructions, we felt confident about hiding the treasure chest outside the house. He said that we could bury it at the beach, but none of us wanted to dig! I felt like the value was super too. This is an experience that the boys won't soon forget. One of the best parts is how tired the boys were after. :) Happy and tired.

Such a fun night, my kids had a great time & we had fun watching them hunt for crabs. All are released at the end.

My teen enjoying this fascinating event!!

Wow I was amazed by how much fun I had, and my family had, ghost crab hunting. I was impressed with the quality of the beach, our beyond wonderful tour guide Chandler, who was the best, and the amount of crabs our preschooler and teen spent over an hour chasing on the beach. That in itself was a treat. It is rare to find something that both our teen and preschooler enjoy so much at the same time. I have attached pictures of the good quality of crabs and how large they were! Of course Chandler is a huge advocate of our beaches and he picked up trash while we picked up crabs. Wonderful. He also emphasized the importance of protecting the crabs, and we let them go in the end. That was fun too. I would highly highly recommend this activity for the family. Even parents will love seeing their kids run around having fun at night and wearing themselves out! Will do again.

This is a must if you've never gone ghost crab hunting before. Our guide, Chandler was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, has a great personality and he made the night exciting. The kids had a blast!..adults did too. They provided all of the needed equipment and information to catch and release the crabs without hurting them. This quest is also great because of the group setting. You get to see your family and other families get excited when they see and catch crabs. Especially the big ones! I highly recommend this trip.

Jim taught my son how to pick up the crabs without hurting both my son and creature to have a fun interactive experience.

What we thought was going to be a chill night turned into a great experience had by all. We learned that ghost crabs have a ton of cool features to include their job as the trash picker-upper for the beaches. This tour turned into probably the kids most favorite activity even over tubing and parasailing - plus, they learned some awesome information about the creatures of the sea and how the ghost crab can see 360 degrees - so they are always watching . Thank you, Jim and his crew.

We've been coming to Kitty Hawk twice a year for nearly 20 years and this is one of the best activities we've done! Everyone from my 8 year-old daughter to my 60-something parents had a blast. Our guide was Brett, a local college student home for the summer. He was knowledgeable about the local wildlife and taught us all about ghost crabs before we embarked on our adventure. He was great with the kids, teaching them how to properly "scoop" up the crabs and showing them how to find the tiny ones scurrying across the sand. He helped us find and capture the crabs and only laughed at me a little when I squealed as a crab ran across my foot. It's a beautiful way to spend a summer evening on the beach! (Side note - I may never walk on the beach at night again now that I know how many crabs are out there!)

If you have a lot of people going along, it can get pricey, but for us, it was worth every penny and the hour long drive down from the northern end of the island. The kids start off with a pirate tattoo - our little mateys decided on "PIRATES!" knuckle tattoos and a seashell - and getting dressed up in pirate garb. There are accessories too for purchase, but we told our niece and nephew that we could do ice cream after if they forego the swords. Thank God, they chose wisely. At that point, adult chaperones, just sit back, relax, and take some picture, because the crew takes care of everything. They sneak the kids through town onto the boat and take them through an adventure complete with finding a treasure map, firing water cannons at Stinky Pete the pirate, and sharing the booty. In reality, you're driving around in circles, and the ship's captain will have a few fun asides for the adults, but the kids really buy into it, and the crew is top notch. They really get into it, which I believe is saying something for these guys putting on multiple shows a day, many times a week.

The mate, Jinx, and "Captain Blarney" did a great job! The music was spot on and they kept the kids entertained the entire time. I loved it too! The pirate costume to borrow and tattoo was a nice way to start the adventure! The cost is pricey, but we all had a nice time! They have a tip jar out (well deserved) and it was nice they didn't even ask for a tip or stand there at the end of the voyage with the jar. If you have a little one 3-9 they'd probably love it too.

The family, the farm, this whole place is a treasure and I can't wait to return!…read more I am always on the hunt for new and exciting things to do with my daughter and this place was brought to my attention by a coworker. They offer several special events throughout the year, adventure camps for kids of all ages, field trip opportunities and private parties. We attended a GLOWvember evening several weeks ago which was so much fun for our preschooler. We had never been to the farm, but Google maps and signs off the road led us to the right spot. There is ample parking on this private property and it was a short walk to the rear of the home where all activities take place. We were greeted right away by Shannon, and introduced to many of the animals on the property including a rotund pig, many goats and chickens. Shannon was a saint in guiding the children and offered them opportunities to interact with and care for the animals. Our daughter was smitten and followed Shannon like a shadow. She had activities ready for the kids to interact with the environment including a ladybug hunt and nature scavenger hunt. There is play equipment that was almost as inviting for me as it was for the kids. The night also included a bonfire with s'mores, outdoor independent play stations, family-friendly music & plenty of glowsticks. What I appreciate the most is that Shannon, a former sped teacher & special needs mom, has created a place where both neurotypical and neurodiverse children can work and play together in an engaging environment. What a blessing she is to this community!

We were there for 3 hours and my boys were in tears when we had to go home! Three hours went by so fast. This is the owner's home, but parking is definitely available. They also have a bathroom to use - it's the cleanest portable potty I've seen to date. Shannon - the owner, is so kind and congenial! She helped me with my son's when I had to take one to the bathroom. She treated my boys as if they were her very own. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed! This is definitely the place for special needs kids. This was the first time, since we lived in Japan, that I was able to let my kids run and have fun, and I didn't have to worry.
