I'm surprised at some of the complaints about wait time. If you go on a weekend it's going to be first come first serve. Also, Its a healthcare facility. Some problems may be more complex and take more time. I'm a registered Nurse and work in the health care field so I understand the challenges . Now that I got that off my chest I want to say I had a superb experience. I was on vacation and had a health concern. I was treated politely and kindly by the check- in person. The Doctor I saw was personable and spot on with my diagnoses. I was able to pick up my antibiotics right there at the pharmacy. Yes I waited a little over an hour but I understood it's a walk -in clinic. I am so glad I went there and would recommend to anyone. read more

My experience at this clinic was deeply upsetting and, based on how I was treated, I believe I was discriminated against as a Black parent. My 2-month-old son had an appointment, yet when we arrived, the front desk clerk, Bailey, repeatedly came up with different reasons why he could not be seen. This made no sense because his medical records had already been transferred from his previous pediatrician to this office. Before relocating to Cape Cod, I specifically spoke with representatives from Outer Cape Health, who assured me that establishing care here would not be a problem. When I asked for the next available appointment so my son could receive his routine well-child care and vaccines, Bailey told me there were no appointments available and suggested that I take him to an urgent care center instead. My son did not have an urgent medical issue--he simply needed his scheduled well-child visit and vaccinations. Despite my explaining this, she continued to refuse to schedule him. Throughout the interaction, I felt she spoke down to me and treated me as though I was inferior. After leaving the clinic, I called the main office and spoke with another representative, who informed me that there were actually several appointments available the very next business day and the day after. I reported how I had been treated and was told my complaint would be forwarded to the office. About two hours later, instead of addressing my concerns, I received a message stating that my appointment had been canceled and that my son would no longer be seen at that office. What makes this even more confusing is that my son had already been seen there for his 6-week well-child visit, and his 8-week well-child appointment had already been scheduled over the summer. There was no legitimate reason to deny him care. Refusing care to an infant who needs routine medical care and vaccinations, providing misleading information about appointment availability, and then canceling his care after I reported my concerns is unacceptable. No parent should have to experience this while trying to ensure their child receives appropriate medical care. I hope this clinic thoroughly investigates how patients are treated so that no other family has to go through what we experienced. read more

I've been lied to, hung up on and ignored. I'm a cancer patient and I've been waiting nearly a week for my medication. I have a hard time sleeping due to the stress of my diagnosis and I've been at ends trying to function for the last week. I've been barked at for mispronouncing the name of a medication and they've messed up my refills and refilled things I didn't ask for and then not delivered them like they say they will. I was just lied to about my medication being out for delivery by the cab. I'm honestly thisclose to transferring my medication to CVS. At least it's pleasant there. Also... A certain long time NP told me that I was too young to have cancer and dismissed my obvious symptoms of breast cancer. I nearly died. She blamed the symptoms of my breast cancer on my being overweight. To my utter surprise, she still has a job. read more

Outer cape Heath care is the best place to go. I've been a patient for years now. Dr Shay is the best doctor I know, he's very knowledgeable, caring, takes very good care of his patients. He listens to every word that I have to say about my health problems. I almost died in April, stayed in the hospital for almost a month. Dr Shay emailed me and called the hospital to ask about my prognosis. I found out that when I got out of ICU. Every one works hard there. People who bitch about everything, maybe they should get a job there and find out how much they bust there butts. read more

Never going back! We are seeking new doctors from out of state. Our first appt was with an APN who told us there was nothing whatsoever she could do for my teen bc she isn't a doctor. The second time, which was supposed to be with the doctor ended up being with an NP. We got lost on the way and were 8 minutes late. They refused to see her. I have two experiences with this clinic and both have been pretty dismal... 1). I moved to Provincetown from out-of-state in December 2022 - in preparation for my move, I filled out the paperwork to transfer my primary care to a doctor at Outer Cape Health Services two months before my move in October 2022 - it's now September 2023 and I haven't received one phone call or letter from this clinic advising me if I will ever get a doctor in Provincetown. I've called multiple times and was always told that the person who processes new patients is really backed-up and no one ever gives me this person's email or phone number to check on my status. Needless-to-say, I've given up on Outer Cape being my primary care and have chosen to base my medical care with Mass General Brigham in Boston. This situation is not ideal, as I'd rather have a primary care physician in, or close to my town, but Outer Cape has left me no choice in that matter. And if there is no doctor available, then just tell me that instead of leaving me in limbo. 2). I caught Covid this week and scheduled a virtual appointment to try and get an antiviral drug - I have had long-Covid since my first infection back in March 2020 and was also hospitalized with that original Alpha Covid variant. So, I'm sure you can imagine my fear of having another hospitalization due to Covid, hence my appointment to get an anti-viral. I'm not able to take Paxlovid, so I was requesting a Molnupiravir prescription, to which I was denied by the Nurse Practitioner (NP) because, as she stated, the drug was not FDA approved for treatment of Covid and it was only for people with other health conditions like diabetes, etc. What she told me is not true, you can google it, Molnupiravir is authorized by the FDA as a treatment for Covid. So she clearly doesn't know what she's talking about, or lied to me! What makes this an even bigger slap in my face is that she was implying that my long-Covid status wasn't reason enough to prescribe me an antiviral drug. She told me to go to the hospital if my symptoms got worse - I've already been hospitalized with Covid - that's why I need an antiviral, to keep me out of the hospital! I've spent the past 3.5 years unable to live my life like a normal person because of an early Covid infection snd this NP was denying me a drug that's FDA approved to keep people like me out of the hospital. This practitioner just embodied everything that's wrong with healthcare in the US... Thankfully, I was able to get a Molnupiravir prescription from a doctor at a different health institution, but it would have been so much better to have gotten adequate healthcare in the town that I live in and not have to scramble to find another clinic and healthcare system to help keep me from a more severe outcome with higher complications considering my history with this disease. Needless-to-say, based on my experiences, I do not have a very high opinion of Outer Cape Health Services, Provincetown! I'm gobsmacked by how unprofessional and un-caring this clinic has been to me, and it's even worse considering the fact that Massachusetts has the best healthcare in the US! Unfortunately, Outer Cape is the only game in town and this town deserves so much better than this! read more

I have been a patient of this facility since 1980's. I left due to their staffing issues. We still live in the area and they were very helpful for my husband when he had to walk in on a Saturday morning. He had a follow up appointment for 3:30 on a Monday. He checked in at 3:25 however we had to leave at 4:35 because he had not been seen yet. The woman behind the desk said they treat people first come, first serve. Everyone that was called back before him arrived and checked in after him. We don't know if they neglected to sign him in, we were never given an explanation for why he had not been called back and seen for his followup appointment. read more

Everyone from front reception to the nurse practitioner down to the pharmacist was welcoming. I called at 5:30pm one evening, and was seen within 20 min of arriving. I received a follow-up call as promised, and when my insurance wouldn't cover the meds I needed the clinic gave me their discount. I couldn't have been more reassured. read more

I have been a client at all OCHS locations over 15 years. They improve the physical facility and yet the service at the facility is very poor. The attitude is bad, they nurses just take care of the doctors, not the clients. They jump for the doctors, makes calls for them , check charts. What about ckecking the patients? In 15 years i have only seen a RN twice. To flush my ears out for wax. Not sure if they still do this, Too busy checking the doctors emails for what they need to do for them. The medical staff are confused, disorganized. If you call the main phone number, you never get help. I have waited twice for 30 min and then gave up. If you sent a email, the staff share it with everyone. Do not share complaints in person. you will be labeled a trouble maker. Change your provider or just ignore you. I need a good, understanding, kind doctor who cares. A IM or FP Mid Cape for my PCP. Any suggestions. I have private insurance. No major medical issues. read more

On recent visit I presented with a piece of broken glass lodged in my palm. I was very worried since I use my hands for my work. On that day, I was fortunate to be seen by Donald Kornack, MD. I rarely write reviews, but I had such a wonderful experience at Outer Cape in Provincetown that I thought credit was due. We raced from Wellfleet to Provincetown on a Saturday morning, because I cut my finger with some garden pruning sheers. I actually 3 urgent care issues: the cut, frost bite from an ice pack and a rash which I thought was a drug reaction. On other words I was s hot mess and felt totally stupid. I was impressed with everyone I interacted with : front desk, nurse, medical assistant and one extremely competent nurse practitioner. She gave sound recommendations for treatment for all 3 medical needs. I also felt validated that I needed to be at urgent care. So grateful to you all! read more

What a wonderful, attractive and helpful facility for this area! Plenty of parking. I called about getting a MRR vaccination and spoke with a delightful man named John. He checked to see if they had the vaccine and let me know to come in with my insurance card and they would fit me in ... first come first serve. Parking was easy. Their facility was bright and cheerful, check-in was quick, efficient and courteous. They couldn't have been more accommodating. I saw a nurse and PA prior to getting the shot. Easy peesy! Keep in mind - those of you with an instant mentality - they are a medical clinic that accepts walk-ins, so if you expect to get right in ... say over the weekend for a vaccine (when they may be attending much more in-need patients) ... take a chill pill, bring a good book and be thankful that they are here and so willing to be a wonderful resource for the community. When I was in Provincetown for the weekend, I was in need of stitches after cutting my thumb. We made a quick call to OCHS to make sure this was a service they provided before heading over. I could not be happier with the care I received! The receptionist knew I was coming and was ready with any paperwork I needed, the nurse who took my vitals assured me I was not as stupid as I was feeling, and the NP and student who did my suturing couldn't have been any better! Hopefully I'll never need it, but if I ever need Urgent Care again while visiting Provincetown, I know I will be well taken care of. read more

We are visiting the area from out of state and I brought one of my partners in for the urgent care service because he wasn't feeling well. My concerns: 1) They require masks but don't have them near the entrance, and then yell at you from across the waiting room. These should be available upon entrance. Neither of us are anti-maskers but we didn't have them with us when we arrived. 2) Instead of helping us get checked in, the greeter took one look at my partner and said "I've never seen anything like this" and went to get a nurse. Instead of adding to the anxiety of the situation, simply getting a medical team member would have been much more professional. 3) One of the front desk clerks, when asked by the greeter if he could check us in simply said "no." And had to be coaxed into giving us a paper chart to fill out. I saw the signs about switching to EPIC and I understand that there are challenges.. but that shouldn't stop someone from being professional and trying to get us checked in expeditiously. 4) One of the triage nurses that came out was literally carrying her bags and trying to leave, and they were evaluating my partner for a "stroke," which didn't correlate at all with his symptoms. As a medical professional myself, I wouldn't have bothered with UC if I'd thought this was emergent rather than urgent. 5) The other triage nurse asked us several times if he was running a fever -- which we had no way of knowing because no one took his vitals, and refused to do so until after he'd been COVID swabbed. So they made us walk around to the side of the building while he was still shivering and having a hard time walking so that they could do this. My other partner is now inside with him and they are saying that the actual medical professionals are fantastic, but the check-in situation and greeting really left a lot to be desired. Seeing as how this is the only urgent care center on the Cape, and you probably get thousands of out of town visitors in need of assistance.. first impressions really matter. read more

The staff was great and provided me with the care that my bloody leg (and my badly dented spirits) needed. An hour and a half later asked me if I wanted to re-schedule. Waited around and watched everyone else that walked in after me be seen. Don't go here unless you absolutely have to. Last week after waiting 30 minutes I was told my "doctor", Susan Roderick, was running 45 minutes behind. I rescheduled for today. After waiting 30 minutes I was told the same scenario. I could wait 45 minutes or reschedule. I said I'd wait and be back in 45 minutes, which i was then told I would need to wait in the room for her. (a) when did their time become more valuable then mine? (b) why not have the professionalism to phone me prior to arriving? My dentist does on the rare occasion he runs behind. I live here year-round and while we may not be able to receive specialty services at the clinic, I have been completely satisfied with the care and professionalism of the Outer Cape. I go frequently and have never had a long wait or bad experience. I am impressed that we can get quality care so far out on the cape. While on Vacation I pulled my back out. Being in healthcare for over 30 years I was dreading going anywhere to be seen especially as a walk in. Not knowing the area and a quick google search found the Medical facility. I stopped in and was greeted by a very friendly registar who suggested sceduling an appointment so I didn't have to wait around. She even provided the forms to take with me and fill out before the appt to move things along. Went back two hours and was in teh door at my scheduled time. Jody the NP saw me was fantastic. In and out in 15 minutes, it took longer to get the perscriptions filled. Great place, friendly staff and quick service. if I am back in up this way on future vacations and need any Medical Care I know where to go. read more

While on vacation in Provincetown for week of 7/9/16 to 7/16/16, visited this clinic for infection that had developed on my leg. Two days later I had to see my doctor since the infection continued spreading, I developed a fever chills and body aches and I was unable to bend my leg. Was told by my doctor that Outer Cape Health Services should have never prescribed Meds they did. I was prescribed a cream that is used for fungal infections and medicine for a skin infections. My doctor prescribed Amoxicillin and I was told to watch the two red lines spreading up my leg. Any further spreading would necessitate hospitalization for IV antibiotics Thankfully the next day my leg started looking better, fever broke and continued to do so each day after that. I would stay away from this place. After receiving the bill I contacted the administration office at this facility to voice my complaint and dissatisfaction of now have to pay them for poor services.
