They kinda open when the sign says, and they sometimes stay open until closing time. Or they may stay open way past closing time. . . . hope that explains mountain time. About 10 minutes after their sign says they open a lady arrived and opened the front door. So I got out of my car and headed inside the store. As I walked in she vanished inside the store, so I said, "hello??" The lady rudely responded with, "We're not open yet." So I just said, "well what time do you open at? It's already 8:15." Anyways I left and we came back another day. We did get some good deals. But it you're on mountain time, then put up a sign that says you are.

You'd think they'd want to encourage excitement over their items, or at least say hi! I was trying to be respectful of their interactions. This person should not have a person facing job. Each time we visited, we'd always leave with something fun in our bags. Often, our purchases were gifts to others, proudly advertising the store's name. In fact, one of my husband's favorite gifts was a beautiful vase I bought from their store. We truly loved Rustic Mountain Charm and the memories we shared their. Sadly, today is the last time we EVER step foot in that store. My family, as well as my two siblings and their families, walked into the store to do some keepsake shopping. My husband and I had our eyes on a few items, and my children were looking for something as well. Apparently, the staff and owner felt that the items in the store were not to be handled and were for admiration only; despite the many "Try Me" and "Sample Me" signs strategically placed all over their store (candle samples, lotion samples and etc.). Furthermore, my children and niece were told to keep their "grubby hands" off the stuffed hand puppets. Keep in mind, my children's actions were no different than any other patron who had walked through the door. In my opinion, if their toys are not meant to be touched by children, they would be better off to place a "No Touching" sign next to the toys or avoid placing them where they are intended to grab a child's attention. I don't know of any child who wouldn't want to pick up their toy before buying it! Not only was the staff rude, but the owner himself was confrontational and offensive. To be honest, we didn't even realize he was the owner at first as his mannerisms and attitude were highly unprofessional. The whole experience was disappointing and gave my children unnecessary worry and fear... even our six year old understands that people shouldn't behave this way. As we left, my husband and I put back the items we were going to buy and promised the owner, that despite our years of patronage, he would NEVER get another dime from us! Fortunately, the items for purchase in Rustic Mountain Charm can be found at most other souvenir shops in Estes Park or online.

The person working the cash register looked it up and said it would be $51. 3 minutes later, I found the EXACT same shawl in a small which had a price tag of 41.50 (the first one was a medium). We asked him to honor the price, and he said "nope, mediums probably cost more because, you know extra fabric." Okay, first of all, that's not how clothes work. But to humor him my friend tried on the small and it fit, and we asked to get that one. "Nope (again) all sales are final (he and not told us that). You can't exchange it, for the exact same item for the correct price. You CAN go buy something else for the price difference (not easy to do), so she bought a bracelet and paid more. Such a contrast to the experience I'm accustomed to shopping on Frisco Main Street. NOT a good reflection on our town at all. I will never bring a guest there again. Plenty of other local shops who treat locals and visitors well.
