The owner has packed a lot of different things in this place and it's worth a stroll through to find something you can't live without. She has the typical antique stuff like glassware, dishes, jewelry, baby dolls, clothes, old appliances, books and records. Books and records were 20% off on the day we went. The records were mainly entertainers from the late '50s and '60s. We did find a book about National Parks that we purchased. They also had some old typewriters which would be a cool gift for an inspiring writer in your life. In the photos for this place it says they are closed on Wednesdays. But when we went yesterday, they were very much open.

I was told that the artists share the staffing responsibilities, with each coming in once a month. We were able to meet a very talented woman who dyes cloth and weaves. My other favorite art was the pottery bear the front. We enjoyed browsing here, and I would love to go back to add to my art collection. They also have the cutest window displays to draw you in. I presume this goes back to olden tymes when more was going on here. As of my visit, aside from the hot spring, options in this town were a single restaurant, a gas station that closed at 6 PM... and this museum. So if you want to learn a little about this town's past and what made it the county seat, you should check it out. It was a very short drive from the Hot Springs, one could walk if desired, and there is a parking lot, so that wasn't an issue. I also happened to be there on a free day, which was handy. However, admission is very affordable if you are there on a normal day - $8 adults / $7 seniors / $5 children (6-17) / under 5 is free as per https://grandcountyhistory.org. I'm not going to pretend that this was an exciting spot, but it was informative and it should not be overlooked as an option for visitors to the area.

Pioneer Village Museum is part of Grand County museums. Grand County operates a total of seven…read morelocal museums preserved over the century. Pioneer is neat cause the actual spot has a lot of history. The land and general main building started out as the county courthouse (1891-1902) and jail (1897-1937). From 1924-1942 the schoolhouse was built. Kinda funny how the jail was next to the schoolhouse. The exterior shows the original basic structure with updated technology. Aside from the local history, there are several homesteading themes on the grounds and millions of trails in the general vicinity for all your outdoor pleasures. Due east about one hour is the georgeous Grand Lake and Village. Two hours or so is the west entrance to the actual Rocky Mtn National Park (not to be confused withnthe Rocky Mtn Range). Lots of facilities in a 100 mile radius. Safe travelings.

They have lots of artists, most Colorado 'local' with a few others thrown in for good measure. In addition to the beautiful furniture, they have lamps, metalwork, candles, textiles, jewelry, wall art, etc. If you're looking for a statement piece, they have ski lift benches and some larger wooden wall art. There is nothing terribly exciting and it will keep you occupied maybe 15-30 minutes (it is a very small place), but there are a few items worth looking at. Two things really stuck out at me. They have a few vaults/safes including one that you can walk in, along with a series of rocks and minerals that you could show to your children. They also sell historical photos of Idaho Springs and a few other similar pictures. The prices were not terribly expensive from what I recall -- although, there were a few pricier options. Some people may wonder why I gave this place such a good rating. That is because its free. They ask for a $2 donation, and I can respect this miniature museum for what it is. If you're strolling through, its worth a few minutes of your time.
