Deceitful Evil Bad Business! The woman who was working behind the counter seemed like she owned the place, but either way she had HORRIBLE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP skills. Scam! My daughter showed me a photo of a lamp she wanted there and I described it to the only person working there that evening. The worker woman knew which one it was and started leading me to it. I saw it on the shelf, but she walked me further to one that was still in a box. She knew the one on display didn't have chipped feet (defective) and she purposely grabbed one that she must have known had several chips on it. She acted like it was better because it was already boxed for me (in a used box, not a nice box that went with the lamp). The perfect lamp on the shelf could have easily been picked up, but she went out of her way to quickly grab the broken boxed one. I guess I am a fool for trusting her. She acted like she was doing me a "favor" by grabbing one that was already boxed, and she wrapped some bubble wrap on it for "safe keeping"- but it was actually to keep me from looking. When I safely transported it straight back to Denver and unwrapped it from the Home Depot used box she had wrapped it in, I then saw that this $120 lamp had chips and broken parts on the decorative bottom. This woman's demeanor was sour and unpleasant from the very beginning, so I should have unwrapped the lamp at the counter and checked it. Silly me trusted that no one would think that because the customer was from out of town, they probably wouldn't return a chipped, defective and overpriced lamp. Premeditated and evil. As soon as she knew which lamp I was describing she immediately went in for the scam and charged full price for a lamp that she knew was broken and then hid it under the pretense that it was a favor. Very rude person at the cashier. I waited for a couple minutes while looking at the sterling silver rings (which are conveniently placed right by the cash resister where people are checking out so you can't see). I tried for a few minutes to make eye contact with the person at the register before saying something because I didn't want to interrupt the transactions. I was very clearly showing excitement about looking at the rings and smiling. I even told the person checking out "sorry to be right here these rings are great!" And the woman at the cash register didn't look at me. She even started placing the bags right over where I was looking despite there being plenty of room on the other side. I felt very unwelcome and then looked at the person with me and said never mind it's okay we can go! And the cashier said to everyone around me "so impatient. So impatient" several times. You'd think they'd want to encourage excitement over their items, or at least say hi! I was trying to be respectful of their interactions. This person should not have a person facing job. I never leave negative yelp reviews but this was unbelievable. I was ready to spend a decent amount of money on some new rings but will never be back thanks to the rudeness and inhospitality. It's SO easy to be friendly and kind. There's other cute boutiques and stores - avoid this one! read more

This place is great for gifts, if you have someone that seriously loves outdoor themes. Almost everything has a moose, bear or owl on it. The prices are all over the place - some nice pieces for under $20, but then I saw a scarf for $64! There's also a wall of over priced souvenir t-shirts, which makes this shop scream "Tourist Trap." Other than the prices though, there's definitely a lot to look at and probably something to tempt most people that would travel to Nederland. read more

"Beauty is hidden to the eye". During my second day trip to Nederland, I took the time to go into the Rustic Moose. During my first trip...I did the typical "Boulder Like" window shopping. (I was relaxing and taking in the local vibe). What struck me going into the Rustic Moose wasn't the overwhelming quantity of items in the store - it was the 'quality' of the items. (At times when I go into 'gift shops' - I find a number of 'tacky' items - that may be fun for teens - and maybe family fun...if you like tacky items - the Rustic Moose - IS NOT THE PLACE). In addition to being well stocked....the store has something for everyone. (with the noble exception to tacky).... Finally, I never realized there was a downstairs until my second circuit through the store - and I must have been down there for 30 minutes. I ended up buying gifts for my friends that were babysitting my dogs in California...and a number of souvenirs for myself. read more

A little bit corny, but still cute! Great for people who like cabins and slogan-signs.

I bought a pair of lovely and unique earrings here but noticed later that one of the ear wires had been bent in a couple of places. Although we were on our way to the airport, I made a quick stop to see if perhaps something could be done. The lovely woman behind the counter pointed out that the ear wires were made of a too soft metal and suggested that if I left the earrings there, the shop's owner, a jeweler, could replace them. Once back home again, the owner left a message to say they were fixed and on their way, and shortly thereafter, they arrived, much better than when I purchased them. Unique, Fun, A Hidden Mountain Gem !

so my family and I decieded to go to Nederland to buy some big pieces for our new home... It was around 5pm when we walked into the Rustic Moose... The shop was very cute, you can find a lot of the same things at many other stores throughout Colorado for probably a lot cheaper btw.... We were barely greeted by this very uptight elderly woman. I could feel she really didn't want us there at all.... My husband felt the same way so he didnt want to spend much there. My 5 YEAR OLD daughter found a ring and so we decided to purchase that. THIS crabby old lady that worked there was still rude, and before I could get my money out, she handed the ring to my child and demanded a thank you. At that point I shouldve cancelled the transaction all together but I didn't want to embarrass my child anymore then she already felt... MY KID HAS BETTER MANNERS THEN MOST ADULTS! My daughter had better manners then the employee of some gift shop! We will never step foot in the Rustic MOOSE ever again and I will continue to share this info with anyone and everyone!
