I've never been seen here for the OB side of things though I wish I had. I was seen on the gyn side. First for an ablation and then hysterectomy. I love how dr vankessel never made me feel like my thousands of one more question questions were dumb and never made me feel like she had to run out to her next patient. They're also very responsive to messages via the patient portal. And have fit me in quickly several times when I was in a lot of pain which was appreciated. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I asked for help for my pregnacy that is at risk and she disregarded me and told me all the dr were booked and she said she would send a note to my dr but didn't get my name or any information to even pass a message along. I asked to see a physician, for abdominal pain and period issues, and was only booked to see a nurse. When I saw the nurse, she admitted she knew nothing about my previously diagnosed genetic condition which directly impacts my medical care, and brushed me off about it. For the record, my genetic condition has been known to directly impact reproductive health, including leading to early-onset menopause. I explained this during the visit, and while she agreed many of my symptoms could signal perimenopause, she brushed me off that I was "too young" for menopause. I am forty, and again, my genetic condition frequently leads to perimenopause. She booked a series of labs, I went and did the labs at a diagnostic center--so a separate appointment--as well as attended a separate ultrasound, also with a nurse. The NP then called me back and left a message saying that "Everything's normal so I put in a prescription for birth control for you." I had not asked for birth control, and in fact had explained I had a very negative reaction to that birth control. I tried to call back for more information, and she never returned my phone calls. I tried to get my labs, but I couldn't access the patient portal to see my labs because they never created an account for me. I called to try and create an account, and no one answered the phone or returned my calls. In person, everyone was nice. The ultrasound technician was sweet, the NP was nice, however, the post-appointment follow up was absolutely atrocious. The admin was awful, and I was gaslit about my own symptoms and completely brushed off and told I was OK, even though none of my symptoms were resolved nor were they taken care of. I was never given an opportunity to even speak to an MD, despite requesting to do so multiple times. I wound up paying over $500 out of pocket and I can't even access my labs to have them sent to another doctor's office. read more

I really should've read the reviews here before going. I only went here because they had openings sooner than anywhere else, but maybe that should've warned me too! I had two terrible experience. I had to get my pap smear done TWICE because they did not get enough sample for a conclusive test. It was inconclusive BOTH times, which I've never experienced in all of my experiences getting pap smears. You can bet i'm not coming back for a third! To make it worse, they said they weren't going to charge the second once since it was obviously their fault for messing up the first one, but then of course, I got a bill for $185. I had to call and get it disputed, and thankfully they're removing the charge, but I really shouldn't have needed to call in the first place. Also, I tried to get my blood drawn on the first visit to get bloodwork done and the phlebotomist was absolutely incompetent. He poked me multiple times, including my WRIST (which i've never experienced and hurt like hell), and ended up not even getting enough blood. He told me to go to one of the "bigger" labs who would have better phlebotomists....WTF. Avoid this place at all cost, they can't even do the most basic things competently, like a pap smear and drawing blood!! PLUS you have to pay $5 for parking if it takes longer than an hour, and it did on my first visit even though I was early to my appointment, I had to wait 45 mins to be seen. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I went here for a very specific issue that I had already seen two other doctors for and was told to go to a gyn. I should have picked anywhere but here. First appointment, which took two months to get, the nurse practitioner argues with me that those procedures are even done by gynecologists. I told her I was specifically referred to you by whom you're telling me to go to. Then she walks out. Looks it up on the internet. And says oh ok. Yeah you're right. So we scheduled another appointment with another doctor in the office who can do it. Another two months go by. And now I am waiting in the waiting room. After 45 minutes. I get up and ask the front desk lady what is taking so long and for an eta. She says she will check. Gets up and doesn't come back. 30 minutes later I ask another desk person over at the lab what happened. She leaves and comes back and says. It will be another 45 minutes to an hour. She asked to reschedule and I had no right of mind to be polite so I said no and walked out. I got a call a week later in which I thought was going to be an apology for having me come in and wait for over an hour and a half with no service. But no. Manager wanted to ask if I said a curse word when I walked out and scolded me even though I told her I didn't and she can review cameras. I did not curse or even say anything. Was i visibly frustrated for waiting for an hour and a half with no communication from them. Yes. Absolutely. Did I curse or act out. No. Then she says well anyway. The doctor said your condition should actually go to a different provider and we are sending on a referral. Great I said. Thanks. A month goes by and I never got a call from the new provider and after following up. They never got it from the doctor office. So i called to follow up and sure enough. They never sent. Another month went by!!!! Finally the new provider calls (within 24 hours of getting a week later) and sets up the appointment. Another week goes by and I get a call from the doctor office who left a voicemail saying they faxed over the referral and sent in my prescription so if it gets really and I should go to urgent care in the mean time. This really confused my because my issue did not require antibiotics and could not be resolved by urgent care. It was a surgical procedure I was requesting. I have left 8 voicemails over the last 3 weeks per their request have not gotten a call back. I emailed the woman that sent the fax. No response. Called the referred to provider and sure enough. They sent me to the wrong Doctor for an issue I don't even have. I don't know what is going on with this office. But I wasted 5 months trying to work with them and now I have to start over somewhere else. This place is absolutely horrible!!' They don't care about patients care at all. After my initial review, I've been back to the office a few times. It was a completely different experience than before. There were 3 different people behind the reception desk on my visits. It was a 1000% different experience than when I wrote my earlier review. This time it was a well oiled machine, and the people who are there to greet you are the right people. I was a high risk pregnancy because my son has LUTO which progressed to CKD. At my 19 week appointment with Dr. Graham she said to me that my baby is going to "die" if not in utero then he will die as soon as he is born. She used the word " die " multiple times during my 15 min appointment with her. Despite tears running down my cheeks she kept repeating herself over and over and over. She has absolutely zero faith and she is quick to tell you the negative. I ended up contacting her nurse about this and their response was that Dr. Graham just wanted to be realistic and basically brutally honest. Shortly after my terrible experience with Dr. Graham my husband and I traveled to Dallas Texas to be seen by doctors who actually care to save a life and know what they are doing. Well I am here to tell you that my son was born at 33 weeks 1 day and he is thriving every day. Josiah was born crying and he is breathing just fine! He is exceeding every day! So if you are high risk pregnancy or pregnant and looking for an OB please consider my review before landing with Dr. Graham. read more

Very unimpressed with this office. Doctor spent exactly 10 minutes with me and seemed annoyed the whole time, my records were faxed over 2x and they still claimed they didn't have them after 3 months, and the front desk staff are super rude. Asked when I could expect a call back from my doctor and was told "whenever she gets to it." My quality bar for care in any medical setting is pretty low these days, but this is beyond bad. I've been seen by Dr. Van Kessel for both of my pregnancies and deliveries and highly recommend her and her nursing team. I was always seen right away and didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes in the lobby. When any concerns or questions arose, she was always transparent, knowledgeable, and direct in her response. Communication through the portal was always answered within 24 hours. With my second baby, the labor started progressing more rapidly than i expected. She demonstrated an ability to respond quickly, helped me keep calm, and provided skilled direction to the nursing team under pressure. A friend recommended Dr Lawler to my wife and I. Dr Lawler specializes in high-risk pregnancies. He is one of the best doctors I have had in my life. He is my wife's Ob/gyn and has delivered two of our kids. Very professional, makes you feel at ease and is in control in the delivery room without being overbearing. The network that he specifically works with is the same way. He referred us to Dr Case to conduct our ultrasound and specialized tests for both kids. No complaints and a very pleasant experience from check-in to leaving. Dr Lawler also has some good stories about parenting and it just feels like he can relate to you. I didn't expect it but I often think about some of the stories he has told my wife and I. Unfortunately, I heard a rumor he is retiring. I am not a female, but based on my wife's experience with him and my limited experience in delivery rooms and prebirth meetings, I strongly recommend working with him. read more

Dr Graham doesn't seem to see any normal patients with 'regular' issues. You have to be dying or have a very complicated pregnancy to see her. Other provider availability is at the mercy of front desk, and they are very rude. I have called a few times over the years and it never changes. They make you provide a detailed explanation of why you need an appointment and sometimes you really don't want to share too much about your private issues. Forget if you want help in setting up a portal to deal with appointments, the front staff make it sound like such a burden and their manner is just very cold and condescending. I had the most horrific experience recently with Dr. Katherine A. Van Kessel. Her profile online says "she believes that the key to a successful relationship with patients is to listen carefully to them and to involve them in the decision-making process." Thus was the opposite of the treatment I received. I was spoken to like a 5 year old child, told what I would be doing against my wishes and was definitely not listened to as a participant in my own care. That was my last appt, I'm not thrilled to be with a midwife group who actually give options and listen to me as an equal part enter in my care. : )) read more

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Overlake OBGYN! I moved to Seattle last year and was in need of Gynecologist at time. I found Overlake and Jennifer Lynn and was impressed from our first appointment. I had issues getting my period my whole life (and seen a lot of specialists) and she knew from Day 1 what could be causing it - something no other doctor had recommended in past. I then recently got pregnant and switched to Dr VanKessell as my OB. I have loved Dr, VanKessel and her whole team. Not only are they always on time, but they are always available for questions via phone or online portal. Dr. VanKessel always put me at ease throughout pregnancy as well even into the delivery room and delivery of my baby. She had a knowledge and experience that makes you know you have the best care. I also saw a few other OBs during my pregnancy and in hospital on call and will say I loved all the doctors I saw in the practice which is an added plus when you never know who will be on call at time of delivery. read more

I had both my first and second son with dr. Chakaraborty she's amazing. The one star review is for the absolute insane amount of waiting time. I have never once came here and been seen on time let alone within 30 min of my appointment. For example today I had an appointment at 4:10 and check in at 3:55. I came in at 3:50 it was almost 5:15 before I was seen. They constantly are "running behind" not just my OB but seems to be that every OB is always running behind. Not only do they run late but they can never seem to schedule an appointment correctly. Between both kids I would say about 1/3 of my appointments were scheduled incorrectly. In the end I had to schedule a lot of time off work for the constant late appointments as well as appointments that were scheduled incorrectly. read more

What went well: my wife delivered a healthy baby after no complications during pregnancy. Concerns: - Mishandling of patient record: Child birth center tagged my wife to a wrong patient ID. OB notes from last visits from four days prior at late third trimester were missing from the birth center log, and observed nurses misreporting my wife's pregnancy term to oncall doctor by two weeks (difference of early vs preterm labor). Data discrepancy came to light after I questioned why the staff consistently referred to wrong term length and same questions were asked by every staff (when was last check up, did doctor comment about how much dilated?) - Mixup of patient information throughout labor: The OB doctor on call kept insisting my wife received a medication to induce labor-- she did not, and later asked a different nurse when such injections were performed, only to learn there was another mother who was at labor and there was a mix up of procedures performed between her and my wife. - All requests require triple followups: Request for Doctor's notes, lab/ultrasound exam results, billing corrections, etc have never completed on the first try. They would have lost the document, lost the lab results, or the individual incharge is never at desk to resolve the question. - Blame shift among staff: During delivery, a nurse would call out that certain needle was missing from a tray when so and so set up the tray, oxygen valve was not shut off by so and so, so and so is on break when they should not be... it is unsettling for patients to hear about ill preparations and blame game being passed around among medical staff. - Broken wall clock: For the entire 40 hours+ that we were in nursing room with the newborn, every staff was notified about the broken wall mount clock, but nobody came by to repair or replace it. Doctors and staff would look up at the clock to advise on next feeding time, vital check time, etc, and some would comment the clock is broken (a few did not take notice unless I brought it up), mention they would notify facility, and nothing happens. - Birth baby record handling: We told the nurse we are still deciding on the middle name of the baby, and told us the hospital logs wont be submitted for another ten days. I called in a day after discharge only to learn such procedures do not exist, and I need to submit a change request to state record dept. Due to covid, there's five month backlog at the state-- we are doomed to bureaucratic nightmare as passports and social security admin needs to be re-submitted after the state completes the birth certificate change. In conclusion, this is a for-profit hospital clinic that operates like one, albeit in utter loss-creating disheaval. If we do have another child, my wife and I agree we should drive out a bit further to evergreen. read more

Just don't. I had my first pregnancy handled by an Obgyn here. So I went back for my second. Worst decision ever. I am in my third trimester. My appointments have been rescheduled for 7 times. Either for my doc was in a child birth or she was on vacation or simply because they were not in a mood I think. At least thrice no proper reason was given. Twice they told me a wrong date and argued that it was a typo and I should have checked. Once , I was on time and I was told at my face that I am a no show. I am too late to switch now. At this facility, I had the pleasure of dealing with Dr. VanKessel and Dr. Otto. They are both extremely knowledgeable, professional, and great resources throughout pregnancy. They are always jam-packed busy, however, so sometimes you can be there a bit past your appointment time- be prepared for this! Dr Lacy is horribe,,,, I saw her for my first pregnancy, she delivered my first child and she cannot stitch me up right, and had to put a big thing of cotton bandage inside me to stop the bleeding. I was clueless for the first time, so I let her do what was needed. I saw Dr Hainz for my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies. He's such a blessing. Very very caring doc and knowledgeable. He sees your tummy and be able to tell you how your baby is locating t before using the equipments. He's the best! His nurse is also amazing. Dr Lawler is also unbelievable great. He is the one that actually deliver my 2nd & 3rd child. I was soooooo impress! He put me back in place with only 4 stitches in my 3rd delivery. Just that alone can tell you how good he is. The problem with this place is Dr Lacy and the waaaaaait...you have to wait for the doc and all other services at least 30 mins even if you have appointments. But still, I'll recommend this place, only for Dr Hainz and Lawler. read more

Lori and her nurse are fantastic. The office is new and beautiful. I had my first baby in February and I cannot say enough amazing things about my experience with Lori, my midwife, and the team at this clinic. I never had to wait for my appts, they were always on time. I had complications during my 3rd trimester and they were always responsive to my calls and messages. I was even able to come in same day after a small mva, saving me from an ER trip. My delivery was long and didn't quite go as planned but I trusted Lori throughout. I've never met such a caring, brilliant, and friendly provider and I will be following her for my next pregnancy! read more

My experience started from when I called to make an appointment. The receptionist had this unpleasant tone when on the phone, wasn't engaged in the call and it felt as if she was forced to be on the call. The appointment itself was with a nurse practitioner Jessica who seemed sort of inpatient and also had an attitude when my husband asked questions. I expressed my concerns (hormonal imbalance causing acne, excessive growth of unwanted hair etc). Jessica did pap test, and some basic samples for infections or whatnot. She added that we can do additional tests for hormonal Issues and that's totally up to me; however, based on my description of my issues and previously being told 6-7 years ago by a dermatologist who suggested to see a gynecologist that I may have PCOS, she was confident that it is hormone issues and she always prescribes her patients birth control for such issues which she did. However, the additional samples taken for infections will be sent to the lab and I should hear back the results in a week. I, also, shared additional issues I have been experiencing such as painful sex and low libido. Nobody called after a week and I waited an additional week to call I was told that Jessica had been out. They found someone else to look at my results who said everything came back normal. I never got a follow up from Jessica in regard to my additional complaints. I had my baby with Dr. Graham and I LOVE her. But I can never get in with her unless I book 6-9 months out. Today was the pinnacle of my dissatisfaction as I had my appointment canceled as a no show when I showed up on time. Yes, on time. Appointment was at 12:50 and I was there at 12:50. I guess they need your paperwork done before the appointment so your real start time is 10 minutes prior to your actual appointment time. I was devastated! They scrambled and got me in with a different doctor, which I appreciate tremendously, but I never want to recommend this clinic because of this horrible practice. I'm not sure why this clinic has such low reviews. My experience (minus my first visit I was late to and had to reschedule *my fault not theirs) has been nothing short of awesome. I left a different clinic and choose to drive an extra 25 min to come here. All the Drs I have been seen by are great and spend time answering any questions you have. The nurses that work with them are all just as wonderful. The gentleman that takes your blood is legit the best phlebotomist I have ever seen. So painless! First of all, I want to say I think Dr. Otto seems like a very nice person. I liked her a lot, and if the overall experience of going to Overlake OB/GYN had been better, I might still be a patient. But... no. Here's the story. I called to make my first appointment, and was told the soonest I could see any of the doctors was in two weeks. I understand that happens, so while I wasn't thrilled I did understand. Meanwhile, the symptoms I was experiencing got worse, and I went to a walk-in clinic where tests were run, medication was prescribed, etc. I kept my appointment because I still needed a well woman visit. The day before my Friday appointment, I got a phone call that they needed to reschedule. Okay, Monday it is. Come in Monday, and waited an hour before Dr. Otto finally arrived. She took some tests to send to a lab, didn't know when the results would be but probably soon. Thursday rolls around, and a nurse calls me and starts off with, "I have some bad news..." After my heart started beating again, I heard her say they didn't bother to send the tests to the lab. So I needed to come in the next day to retake them. I came in the next day, took the tests, asked when my results would be ready--next Tuesday. Cool. On Tuesday I called during my lunch break to ask about them--the receptionist said a nurse would call me back. When I hadn't heard anything by 5:30pm, I called again--a different receptionist told me everyone had left for the day. So of course I called the NEXT day, and was told a nurse would call me back. This time she did, and she said the results hadn't been in the day before but they were now... unfortunately, Dr. Otto was out of the office so no one could tell me what they were. I told the nurse she needed to come up with a solution because I deserved my results. She promised to email Dr. Otto and try to get back to me. To her credit, she did--and it turns out that for the nearly *two weeks* I'd been dealing with Overlake OB/GYN, I'd required treatment that I hadn't been getting. The nurse told me my two treatment options, one of which I immediately ruled out because the medication was one I was allergic to--which they would've known if they'd ever asked me to fill out any paperwork about my medical history. Yeah, no, I want to get better... not have my throat close up. I rarely write reviews and I don't like to share negative ones... but I really wish I'd known ahead of time how much of a hassle it would be to go here. I definitely would've avoided this practice, and I won't be going back now. read more

I had my first baby delivered at UW hospital and the OB visits and procedures went very smooth. As we were moving to the eastside, I chose Overlake OBGYN. Dr Otto is nice and helpful. However, I have to say that the receptionist is not as professional as I thought and I had really bad experience talking to the billing manager Cathy Scheroeder. As soon as I found out myself pregnant, I called the reception to schedule the first ultrasound. At that time, I knew exactly what the conceived day was, but the receptionist insisted that I will be at 6th weeks on 10/05/2015, which I think I'll only be at 4th weeks. I thought they should be more experienced than me, and finally I settled down to go there on 10/05. However, I was told my baby could have been dead because they couldn't hear the heart beat, or it might be too early. I knew it's too early before I went there, but telling a mom that her baby might have gone is something that could scare her. And I don't know what to do. I emailed my OB doctor at UW to get a second opinion. Luckily, when I went to Overlake OB again 3 weeks after, Dr. Otto found the heartbeat and told me the baby was fine. I don't blame Dr.Otto because she didn't schedule my first ultrasound. Later I found I was charged twice for both ultrasounds visits, each for almost $200. I called the billing manager to discuss whether we could cancel or at least adjust the amount of the first claim, but got a very unfriendly response. Cathy Schroeder, the billing manager of Overlake OBGYN, is not a reasonable person. She interrupted me most of the time, and told me that she is not going to adjust the payment amount, and she'll let the nurse explain to me why I need to pay. I have had one similar situation in the past, when my son had a fever and saw the pediatrician, she didn't tell us what to expect in the next few days, which ended up we going to see the pediatrician once more. We were billed twice, but the clinic adjusted the first payment to less than half of the price. Compared to that, seems like Overlake OBGYN billing manager doesn't want to listen or negotiate, and patients have to pay whatever amount on the claims even though they think it's unfair. read more

She is always "away on a medical emergency". so they "fit" me in with a NP for a less than 10 min annual exam. what is wrong w/ these people? most offices have a shedule where one doctor is on call and doesn't take appointments at that time. I heard many many great things about Dr. Haines. So I decided to call to make my first appointment. They missed my first two calls. So I just thought they are having some kind of emergency. I called 2 hours later. Nobody answers. I call again about 40 mins later. Somebody answered and she was actually nice. So I thought to myself that it is okay since they are nice. I found out that appointment time was not going to be good for my husband. so I called 2 days later to change my appointment. They don't pick up. so I left a voicemail to call me back. Two days later, no one calls back, so i tried to call again. AGAIN!!! THEY DO NOT PICK UP MY PHONE CALL!!! What kind of medical office don't pick up a phone call? I work at a dental office and i can't even imagine us not picking up a phone call!!! Now, I am mad. I just do not want to deal with these people anymore. But i did not want to be the person with no show. so tried calling to cancel the appointment. She picked up after 4th try. This is ridiculous. I would have given this 5 stars since Dr. Haines is amazing! BUT The nurse, Becka gave me a serious headache and is very rude. I wanted to know some information about my upcoming appointment for my 18 weeks pregnancy but did not get any clear answers. That nurse is not pleasant to talk to at all. She looked through my file and noticed I didn't do a test which I didn't want to do because I know for a fact I don't need it, and she was being so pushy and opulent about it. Plus, did not appreciate her calling me "girly." That's unprofessional. She should know how to communicate with patients more pleasantly, especially the pregnant ones. read more

I won't be going back even though I really liked the NP: Lisa Abel. DISLIKES: The office was dingy, gross and unprofessional. I waited for the RECEPTIONIST to get back to her desk from chatting for about 10 minutes before I could sign in. They didn't call in my prescriptions, so I had to wait in line to do that for about 30 minutes. When I called the clinic to talk to the Doctor after I left, no one picked up the phone. (10x - literally) I didn't get to talk to someone that day. I had to drive down the street to the PacLab to get blood work done. And the PacLab was absolutely disgusting. There were wrappers all over the floor from other people getting blood drawn... Doesn't necessarily inspire confidence in a Medical Clinic. The nurse who checked me out before I got to see the NP was horrendous. She was unfriendly and didn't listen to a word I said. While I really enjoyed talking with Lisa Abel, I thought she was attentive and caring... I can't stand the facility and her fellow co-workers. read more

Bare with me yelpers. I've started my journey here 06/2017 with my second pregnancy from a friend's recommendation (we were deciding between Swedish or Overlake). On 9/15/17 at 27 weeks we've transferred our care to Seattle Obgyn on first hill (Swedish). Waiting for more than 45 min for scheduled appt...I tried by best to understand. But then I was told that my Ob was not available after I was seated in a room (no call to ask if I'm okay to be seen by someone else). And when asked to be seen by diff Ob, I was told there was no one on staff. Seriously??!!! And when asked for a order on a specific DME...and was clear on letting the RN know what needs to written, I had to call the next day bc she got wrong. How can you build a relationship and trust the medical personal when a simple process can't be done correct let alone have them deliver your child??? No thank you!! I'm being courteous by leaving the names out. FYI I love my doc at Swedish. Not to mention waiting time is less than 5 min. And front and the medical staff are excellent! I trust them 100 percent!!! read more

I love this office!!!! I can't believe this place has any bad reviews. I go to Dr. Lacy and she is amazing! She spends time with me, answers any questions I have, she's funny, and really puts me at ease. The nurses that work with her are great too! They are always happy and friendly no matter how busy they are. They really care about you at this office. I had a problem awhile back, and the nurses would call me to check in and see how I was doing. There are so many women who go there, yet they still take the time to give you that individualized attention. I would highly recommend Dr. Lacy and this office to anyone who needs a good OB/Gyn. read more

The waiting room was crowded. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. The first stage of my visit was to make sure that I wasn't pregnant. The nurse whose job it was to confirm this went through multiple pregnancy tests because the first n were defective / reading inconclusive -- this put me ill at ease and did not give me confidence in the quality of the care I was about to receive. Dr. Abel then saw me. While she was kind, I did not appreciate that she asked me to make a decision about my body ('should I do this operation or not? It's recommended I do nothing but you know, if you really want me to, I will") when the speculum was in my body. [For male-bodied readers: the speculum is both uncomfortable and intrusive. Think colonoscopy.] Decisions are hard enough without them being made under duress. I'm sure Dr. Abel is a competent physician, but this detail made me leave the practice extremely upset, not relieved, as you'd expect someone to be when she hears that nothing's really wrong, and the best practice is to wait and see. [Mind you, I'm not pleased that I had to have a $128 appointment to find out that the current best practice is to wait and see, but this is a fault of the healthcare system and its broken incentives and independent of this particular practice.] read more
