He cleared the error codes for us completely for free so we could get back on the road safely and finish our holiday trip. To be safe, we had the van towed to Steve's. We did not have an appointment. We were stranded over the holiday weekend. Fred was incredibly caring. He didn't have the battery, ordered it from his many resources to deliver it to him, installed it and checked the alternator in between the MANY cars he was servicing. Later I brought it back for the same issue--and was charged another $150 for diagnostics. They replaced a spark plug and fuel pump, bringing the total to $780+600. As I left, the check engine light came on again. They even asked me for gas money to finish their test drive. I was respectful the entire time, but this experience left me feeling that I was taken advantage of. I wouldn't recommend them for serious diagnostics or accountability.

Brought my cargo trailer in prior to a long road trip, and I wanted them to check everything out. They did, and when I offered to pay, he said "No charge. Didn't take us long, and you're a good customer..." or something like that. I am a mechanical idiot, but they never talk down to me, or make me feel stupid. And I always get a fair price from them.
