This is frustrating as a tax paying member of the community. I understand that the high school likes to use this park to play and that as a player it would be annoying to find dog waste on the field. HOWEVER, I don't think that banning dogs from the softball field is the answer. All members of the community should be able to use the park as they see fit. Especially considering this is a public park - not owned by Mount Vernon High School.

Marked by the aptly-named Rainbow Bridge, the waterfront portion of the park includes a playground (closed during our visit, due to covid restrictions), a few picnic tables, and easy-to-stroll paved paths along the channel. Besides photographing the impressive bridge from below, the park's best feature are the many boats, trawlers and sailboats navigating past. I'm not sure I'd make this a destination park, but it was a great place to stop while already enjoying an afternoon in La Conner.

The Christmas lights I enjoyed for their variety and the size of layout. It could take a few hours to amble through everything without dragging on. The horse shows were fun to watch. Different performers were introduced along with their horse and would run/execute a particular program to display the skills they had learned in the duration of the camp. Seating for us spectators was along the side, making it possible to watch the horse and rider throughout their performance.

This was my first camping trip to Bay View in years, and my very first in the winter months. We're…read moreworking hard on our goal to camp at least once a month in 2023, so this not-too-far spot seemed like a great spot to check out on a blustery January weekend. We were lucky to snag a partial hookup (power/water) site in the first loop (sites 1-9), which features views of the bay. The campground host was kind enough to help guide us as we backed in our new trailer, which is a LOT bigger than our old one! Soon enough we were snug in our site and all hooked up. The loop eventually filled up for the weekend and was very quiet. While our site didn't have a sewer hookup, there's a dump station at the park which is free for overnight campers. There's not a lot to do at this park, it's pretty small. But the beach is gorgeous, with nighttime views across the bay to the eerily gorgeous refineries to the west. We didn't do much exploring, except for a day trip to nearby Edison for some beers and lunch.

First impressions only, as I was only there for a short time to video a ride for a friend…read more The grounds are very clean and well-kept, with large trailer parking areas and a circular driveway around the barn for all you non-trailer-backers out there. The horses turned out in runs and pastures all looked well fed and cared for. They have an impressive Extreme Trail Course built outside, see pictures -- this is not open to the public to ride or walk through, which is understandable as it looks like they want to keep everything nice for competitions. There is a huge outdoor ring (maybe 100x200?) with sand/small rock footing -- nothing that I would jump in, but it works for flatting well enough, and they had a bunch of de-spooking obstacles set up at the time that were interesting. They allow haul-ins I believe for $20 per horse/rider combo, which is very reasonable considering how nice the facility is and that you are allowed to use their obstacles. There is an indoor arena also, but we only used the outdoor so I don't know if haul-ins are allowed to use it or not.

Taking a Horse of mine to a one day clinic at this facility changed him forever, and not in a good…read moreway. The owner, Cindy, took him from me to demonstrate and beat on him On the neck and face with a whip. He was terrified and was trying to back away and escape from her but she wouldn't have it. She just kept hitting him. I asked her to stop and she told me she had to show him who's boss. If you believe that you should train a horse with physical pain, this is your place. Otherwise, avoided like the plague.
