Very enjoyable course. You got a lot of role cause the fairways are hard, but sometimes you get stuck in the long grass and lose your ball. But that's golf. It's a short course, it's a lot of young people on it. So everything seems to go a little on the slow side. Altogether it was about a five hour round, but we really didn't mind. The only thing I would say the negative about the course should be is the price. To drive from Seattle it's an hour to hour and 30 minutes up there and they charge a lot when there are better courses in the Seattle area the charge about the same. read more

I've played this course a few times now, and I really enjoy it every bit as much, and in some cases more, than other courses in the area. It's a long, wide, and mostly flat course. It's well suited to players of all skill levels, which is nice for people just starting out, although admittedly better golfers will probably find it easy. A few of the holes do provide a bit of a challenge though, so don't get too cocky. The staff has always been very friendly and outgoing, which I really appreciate. The only recommendation I have for you - and please take this serious - is bring bug spray! It's not a complaint against the course, and certainly I'm not going to remove a review star for it, but the mosquitos out there will have you for breakfast, lunch and dinner. read more

Even though this is not a real top notch course, in the summer it can be a real treat. If I was rating this course as strictly a value proposition, I would give this course 4.5 stars. With new ownership the course seems to have improved. The folks at the pro shop and the café have always been friendly. This seems to be a "good ole boys" type of course. This is purely anecdotal but there seems to be a lot of locals that use this as their "3rd Place". Kind of a "Cheers" type environment where everybody knows your name. At least for those locals that frequent this place. But not overtly cliquish, they welcome outsiders. In summer of 2013 we had a real heat wave in the Puget Sound. One weekend it was over 90 degrees up and down the Sound. My wife won't play when it is that hot. So I looked around and found that it was 75 degrees there and we went and had a great time. Being located on an isthmus, really helps to cool off the area when it is really hot. The course itself is a little rough, they don't seem to spend a lot of time on course maintenance. But this is not to say it is a goat track because it is not. When I have played there, which has only been in the summer, the course has been in good condition. No soft muddy spots, the kind that plague so many courses in our area. The fairways are not of the manicured variety but they work. The rough is not onerous and there are a number of water hazards to negotiate. The greens are ok, I would say just a little small in size, not a lot of contouring. They have been in pretty decent shape, your putts generally will hold the line. Pace of play is generally reasonable. On a summer weekend it is usually around, 4:15 to 4:30. But I have played it at that time in under 4. The design is old (and therefore relatively short), but though there are a number of flat holes, there is also some elevation change. On the tee on I believe the 12th hole you can see Padilla Bay to the North and Similk Bay to the South. On a Sunny day it is quite spectacular. The most "gimmicky" hole is the Par 5 16th, it is a tough dog leg left, with an elevated green. It is quite a climb that late in the round. However you are rewarded for hoofing it up the hill because the next hole, is a long downhill par 4. That next hole, the 17th is the best hole on the course. Tee it up and let it rip. If you catch one it will add maybe 30 yards or more to your normal distance. Just a fun hole. This hole is in my top 50 in the state. After your round I would suggest that you make the pilgrimage to Anthony's in Anacortes, probably 10 minutes north. Get there at happy hour, sit on the patio, a great view of the boats in the harbor. If you have a camper or a motor home and want to make it a weekend or even longer, I would recommend Fidalgo Bay Resort, it is on the water, less than 5 minutes from the course. It is a great place to stay. A bit spendy, but really nice. I live in Kirkland and we get out to Swinomish Golf Course once a year. Put this one on your list of summer time places to play. read more

Play 18 holes here on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Course was slow, but not unbearable. Swinomish is great for a beginner like myself, or someone who is fine tuning their swing/shots. One thing I can say is that I feel like $43 is much too expensive if you book through their website or call to make a tee time. CHECK GOLF NOW! We ended up paying $16 each, including a cart, for an 11:30 tee time, which is a steal compared to their regular rates. I wouldn't likely pay more than about $25 because of the condition of some of the holes. Grass is brown in several places and cart paths are eaten up because they're dirt, not paved, like other courses. Big shout out to one of the ladies who drives the drink cart, I asked if she had a specific beer and she didn't, but a few minutes later on her next go around, she had brought one out for me from the clubhouse! That is awesome customer service! Overall I'd come back if I'm just looking to get out and play, but not looking for anything fancy. read more

The young lady behind the counter did not wear a mask. Customers are not allowed to enter without masks. I even asked her about not wearing a mask and she said it was too hot. Really? It was not. Someone needs to educate her that she could have Covid without knowing it and pass it on to others without knowing it and that is why we all wear masks - to protect each other. read more

My father-in-law and I golfed at the Swinomish Golf Links today and were both extremely pleased with the golf course. It is one of better courses in the area with 18 well-manicured holes. This course is a longer course with several par 5s, but is good for golfers of any skill level. The golf course has beautiful views and is easy to access right off of Highway 20. A great location and is in close proximity to fishing, hiking, restaurants and other entertainment, such as the Swinomish Casino. I highly recommend this course to any golfers! read more

If I could rate this zero stars I probably would. The course is in horrible condition. Dried up dirt would be giving it the benefit of the doubt. They have zero course management, meaning they will stack tee times on top of each other so you are waiting at the tee box for 10-12 min before you can tee off, because there is so many golfers stacked up in front of you. There was one 2 some on the green and a foursome in the fairway and a foursome on the tee box and myself and my wife waiting behind them. It was an absolute cluster EFF. And for 9 holes the price is $62 with a cart for two people...to what play in the dirt and dried up grass that is hard as concrete?? Hey...have you every heard of irrigation? You should take that highway robbery of green fees and invest it into some! Oh and maybe a guy at the first tee box starting groups! Save your money. Go to a different course in the area. They are all in better condition that this! And I mean all of them! read more
