I pulled over right away opened the hood to find my battery smoking and it smelled like rotten eggs (which is a sign the battery is in a terrible place). This happened later in the evening so we called a local tow service and they dropped it off at Mel's with us hoping he would be able to take a look the next day. This was day one of our week long trip and with a low oil pressue warning we were a bit worried about our situation. I arrived first thing in the morning at Mel's shop to speak with him about my car. I told him the situation and then Mel asked for the keys and went to work right away. There weren't many places to go around his shop (that I knew of) so I hung around while he looked at. After a few minutes he found that the oil pressure sensor was bad. He replaced that and then worked on replacing the battery as it was obviously not ok. When he finished replacing the battery we went for a drive on the highway to make sure the voltage and the oil pressure were fine. It is my understanding that in some cases where the battery has the characteristics as mine did in this case that the alternator could be overcharging it. The voltage and oil pressure were consistenly fine on our ten minute drive so it seemed the only problem was the battery had just met its time. The bill was very reasonable and we had no further problems the rest of the road trip. It was almost nice in some ways to have my car break down when it did so I was able to bring it here to save on repairs. Mel is plesant to talk to, seems like a smart guy, and helped us out in a pinch. As long as Mel is still in business, don't worry too much if your car happens to break down while passing through Chamberlain.

I take it in and a shop quotes me 4k for oil leak and new radiator. I spend about another 2 grand on oil, wipers, tires, and what not. Last month the ac stopped working and the last week the air suspension craps out. I take it in and ask if they could tell me what's going on with the suspension. Brice agrees and I get a call with a quote of over 14k worth of repairs. I talk with Mark and explain what's going on and he says that I bought it "as is". I drive to get my jeep from SF and when I get there brice tells me it will be $200 for get my car back and I tell him he never told me I would have to pay 200 and I couldn't until Friday.
