First, demand that…read moreany moving company you request a quote from completes an onsite visit to your home when providing the estimate. Second, ask the moving company specifically - will your team work in the rain? Key take aways for Elite Movers: - Do not hire this company if you are selling a home - Do not hire this company if you have a contract with a buyer - Do not hire this company if you are on a schedule - Do not hire this company if a rain delay will impact your sale - Do not hire this company if you want to work with a professional organization that will go the extra mile to make things right and ensure that the job is finished. What a disappointing experience we had with Elite Movers. The day of our scheduled move, I received a call from the foreman around 8:00AM stating that they were concerned about moving us that day because it was raining. They stated that they did not want our items to get wet. Understandable and greatly appreciated, but unfortunately, we did not have a choice. I explained that we were on a clock - the final walk through with the buyer was scheduled for 4:00PM that afternoon. The goal was to have the house empty before the final walkthrough and be ready for closing the next morning at 11:00AM. The foreman was totally understanding and said they would come to the house to see if there was a way to move us and keep our items dry. I was concerned that maybe this was the opinion of one person and that the company might not even realize this was the direction the conversation was going in. I called the company's phone number and spoke to Sean. I explained the situation and Sean immediately started side stepping my concerns and stated I needed to talk to a team member with Elite Movers. I realized that the 'sales team' that answers is actually an answering service that does not work for Elite Movers. They are booking agents. I asked to connect to a manager or owner with Elite Movers. I was transferred to Luc, who is a local Tallahassee resident and one of the founders of the company. I walked through the situation; we talked about the timeline, and I explained that our closing was approximately 24 hours away and we were under contract to sell the house. Luc explained our items would get wet in the rain and that if we wanted to move that day, we would have to sign a damage waiver. Not ideal - but better than nothing. The team arrived with two moving trucks and four movers around 8:30AM. They attempted to back the truck up the driveway and realized they did not have sufficient clearance to make it to the garage door. They told me they would not be able to help us. And left. I called Luc back and said 'your team just left'. Then the story changed. Luc explained that Elite Movers does not permit their employees to work in rain due to the potential for liability from a slip and fall. Keep in mind that now we've been told they can't move us because they don't want our stuff to get wet. Then it was signing a waiver. Now the story has changed a third time and they can't work in the rain. Red flags everywhere, but I'm getting that desperate sinking feeling in my stomach and trying to hold this deal together. My next thought is let's give them a chance to make this right. We started chatting about the options for moving during the afternoon. The weather app showed a break in the rain after 3:00PM. Luc explained that his weather app showed rain all day. Luc also explained that their team can't work past 5:00PM so they wouldn't be able to start a move out that late in the day. Luc offered the day after our closing as the next best option (entirely skipping over the day of closing). After we agreed that wouldn't work, it was very clear that Elite Movers was literally backing out of their agreement the day of the move. They were not willing to make it right, not willing to work late, not willing to start early, not willing to find a solution. And they seemed quite comfortable simply walking away. I asked for and received a cancelation notice from their system. Luckily, after 3 hours of making calls, we found out that there ARE professional moving companies in Tallahassee. These companies are NOT locally owned, they DO work in the rain, they DO work past 5:00PM, they WILL start a move late in the day, they WILL arrive early the next morning to finish the job, they CAN add extra movers, extra trucks, and extra equipment on short notice, and they ARE professionals at what they do. If these are the qualities you are looking for, call Browning Moving and Storage. They are a United Van Lines company based out of Lake City with an office in Tallahassee. Also - their trucks had sufficient clearance to back into the driveway up the steep hill. If any owners of Elite Movers read this, I would love to receive a phone call and talk through how poorly this experience went.

For various reasons (one a death in the family), we cancelled and rescheduled 4 times. They did not give us an ounce of trouble. They were very understanding and accommodating. Finally, we moved on the 31st. Our two movers, Dana and Demorial, we're friendly, diligent about protecting our belongings, and fast. The move took less time than the estimate, and we were very happy that the final bill reflected that. This was a very satisfying experperience. You'd be crazy not to use AMWAT. *And people, always tip your movers. They work very hard

I have never used professional movers before, and now I will never move without AMWAT again! I can…read moresay, without a doubt, that their company, their team, and the way they do business is far superior. The other local moving company happened to be the one who moved the family out of the house we had purchased. It was this experience, when I dropped by to check on our newly purchased home during the move, that demonstrated the night and day difference between moving companies. AMWAT is highly professional, very organized, has an amazing buttoned-up process, and does not hire hourly employees rather has full time paid employees. The differences could not have been more clear. When I arrived to see the other moving company at work, I was shocked to see the new house had mud all over the floors (because they used NO FLOOR PROTECTION) on the gorgeous wood flooring. They had driven their very heavy moving truck around the house and tore up the gorgeous back yard due to a rainy day. Instead of work a bit harder to get some items out the front door, they opted for driving around back and tearing up the yard with no apologies or attempt to fix the 8 inch ruts and torn up grass. That is not how AMWAT rolls. A week before our move, Dean (one of the owners) came to our home to do a detailed inventory to make sure they had everything they needed on the day-of the move, from the right size trucks to the correct number of staff. He explained how they wrap every item of furniture professionally and are fully trained to pack everything safely and provide services such as disassembling and reassembling beds. They will place things in the new house and move them until I am satisfied. Their blue bins that roll were a God-send as we packed and made everything so much easier. The wardrobe boxes were mini closets and made packing up the closet a breeze. I was shocked. Before they moved in the first thing, the AMWAT team laid down floor protection throughout our new home, after a maid spent half a day cleaning the mud and debris off the floors that the other movers left. Their team was quick, VERY patient, and took amazing care of our new home as if it was their own. From not bumping a wall or corner, to staying on the floor protection, they made our move a very pleasant experience. This I thought was not possible. And, if our experience couldn't get any better, they said early on that they would likely come in under the quote, which they absolutely did. Had I rented a U-Haul truck, bought food and beer for my friends, I would not have saved much and the outcome with AMWAT was far better. I am thrilled that AMWAT is in Tallahassee as they are an asset to our community. From an exceptional business model to well trained employees who implement their process with perfection, I am another grateful customer who will recommend no other movers. AMWAT is the professional team who actually cares.

Tl;dr DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I hired Pinky's Moving…read moreService for close to $5,000 to pack my apartment in Tallahassee and move my items to Atlanta. The owner came to my place and walked the space, taking notes as he looked in every drawer, cabinet, closet, under the bed and outside. It was very important to me to use a Black or woman-owned local business, but this was the biggest mistake of the year. This is probably my 20th move and the shortest distance, as I've moved across the US and overseas several times, but this is the WORST MOVE EVER. I wasn't present for the move because of a death in my family, but my best friend was there as my proxy, and another friend would be in Atlanta. When I told Pinky I wouldn't be there, he was upset, saying he doesn't "want a bunch of women in his way during the move." Ahead of the move, he changed the dates from what we discussed, saying his office should have told me a breakdown of events. It never happened. They also didn't have payment links with the invoices, he wanted to stop by and collect cash. That should have been my first set of red flags. Day of the move, his crew arrives with a small box truck. I had a 850 square foot apartment, with a lot of stuff (which again Pinky saw everything before he gave me a quote). They ran out of boxes, used all of the shipping tape and bubble wrap I had for my business, and drank most of my expensive plant-based protein shakes without asking. Side note, empty bottles of the drink were left in the front yard.I also found they ate more than a dozen packets of gummy bears from my cabinet and put the empty bags back in the gummy bear box. They told my friend to stay out of their way, with Pinky telling her he's been doing this for 15 years and he's going to take good care of me and my stuff. WELL.... They didn't wrap the lamps, and most of them are now broken. They didn't wrap my king sized mattress, which looked like it was dragged through the dirt, they "packed" the spices from my kitchen cabinet in a tarp, which they left on the garage floor in the new house, they "packed" my pots and pans in the dirty kitchen trash can, my mirrored desk has a massive crack in it. There was a thin layer of bubble wrap (which is only suitable for shipping paintings - not protecting glass.) The boxes all looked like they'd been through a war. The crew left my apartment without packing up the entire kitchen, left items in several closets and in cabinets, they left my vacuum cleaners, art on the walls, and put random stuff in closets which my friend found after they left. And when I called Pinky to tell him, he said "don't call me no more," also that I was getting mad "for no reason" and that's what happens when you have minorities for customers. He also said my friend was getting me riled up and shouldn't tell me what his guys were doing with my belongings that they were supposed to be packing. My TV wasn't boxed, artwork was just tossed unprotected in boxes that weren't even sealed- some with kitchen jars and shoes on top of them, my plants had things thrown on top of them, it tools ages to find my clothes because they weren't put in wardrobe boxes as promised. They pretty much left everything in the garage. Because they ran out of room in the small truck, my friend had to make two trips to Atlanta in my SUV with the things they didn't take. The next day, my friend found an attachment to my vacuum cleaner in the driveway! Other parts of the second vacuum were found in the master bedroom - took a while to find the actual cleaner. I found parts of my big storage rack in the driveway and front yard of my house a month later! My garment rack is broken and missing a wheel, and so many pieces of broken glass were found in my apartment from things they dropped as they "packed." They also broke a cabinet door in the apartment kitchen. Check out the pictures and see the finished product of this move. As of this writing, Pinky's Moving Service hasn't responded to the email I sent with the first round of damaged goods. Bottom line, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

The movers were nice, polite, prompt and VERY quick and efficient .....nothing was broken or damaged. I would use them again if ever needed and would recommend them to friends.

Pak…read moreMail of Tallahassee advertises they have the capability to deliver (even large items) by freight anywhere, crate and even internationally. I paid them in April, 2023 after and didn't receive my items until July, 2023. They pitched me one excuse after another like, I don't have anyone to help me, my van broke down, my mechanic can't fix it so I sent it to a Mercedes shop and they're backed up at least 12 or 13 vehicle repair jobs. That was an ordeal. I finally took them to small claims court and paid a lot of fees. No, I didn't go after the company to be reimbursed for the court fees. I just chalked it up to another Florida business with game. What reputable business hands customers the excuse that their vehicle broke down and then doesn't try to accommodate their customer by finding an alternative so that their agreement is kept. They didn't have any problem taking your money. So, if you're this as a side hustle, then don't advertise things you cannot do. Stay in your lane. Their other business is Red Bear Realty. I can imagine customers getting stiffed there too. As they say, Buyer Beware!! You might not get what you pay for. I like buying items at HiBid Auctions because I have gotten some really good deals. I find that not all auction houses deliver. Some don't care about what they're doing no more than having a hole in the wall. I respond to auctions where delivery is available. Some businesses hold to this with integrity and others fill like once you've paid for your items it's all up to you. In my case this auction house recommended the delivery supply company. And even told me that it was my problem. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly! Not all are like that though. I bought a kitchen table with bar stools from a ATX Auction in Corpus Christie Texas. And, there were no problems with delivery because that's what they do. Even when I received the package pieces were missing, and when I called the manufacturer, they sent the missing pieces as a courtesy. They didn't ask for my name, rank and serial number bank account, etc. That's a Good business who stands behind their products to achieve customer satisfaction. I was IMPRESSED.
