Tried on jeans and employee insisted their process is they have you, yourself, bend down and cuff the hem under. -They don't help you do this at all - and they insisted they only put 1 pin in the pant leg -- and it's ON THE SIDE of the pant leg! -1 PIN.- So you cannot see what the length of the FRONT (or back) of the pants will actually look like, because it's unfolding without a pin holding it up! But she will not take one minute to pin more than 1 pin - and INSISTED it be only on the SIDE of the pant leg, and that this is their process. (Also, just 1 pant leg, so if your legs or shoulders are different lengths/heights -- also, too bad for the customer.) -All of this was ridiculous.- I took a gamble because I was on a little bit of a deadline with upcoming travel (and this place came recommended) - but tried on the hemmed jeans and they are too short for my liking. In the end, I tried on & paid for brand new jeans in store (not easy for me, I have a hard time with jeans), tried them on at Anh, and paid for alterations - but now I don't like my new jeans. --How about that? I will not be going back there. People deserve better for such a basic thing as a hem! Got a dress & skirt hemmed at the same time as the jeans -They also would NOT put a few pins in these items either, when I tried them on before the hems were made -- but luckily, skirt & dress look ok. -Beware of this terrible hem process.- No alterations business should ever handle hems this way!

After 3 minutes of pinning the suit, she tells me the total for tailoring comes out to $200, as she decided she wanted to add 3 seams (whereas the tailor I went with added one). Of course, I decided to get tailored elsewhere... but it didn't end there. She tells me that she really could charge me for her labor (all 3 minutes, truly), but very kindly won't. Whatever, I ask her for an up-front quote for just the dry cleaning, and the price sounds reasonable. I come back to pick up the clothing, she says the agreed number, I give her my card. I then see on my bank app that she charged me almost double the agreed upon price. It's pathetic that, while she obviously has abundant clientele and prime real estate, she chooses to resort to greed and illegal practice. I would recommend any other shop, so you don't risk going through what I have.

I typically do basic alterations myself, but I didn't have a sewing machine capable of handling stretch fabrics, so I paid $25 to get a knit shirt hemmed, and unfortunately it's coming undone after one wash. Furthermore when I examine the fabric, it looks like there are tiny tears along the stitches, suggesting that the wrong type of needle was used for the density of the fabric.

I left my wedding dress with Teresa two weeks ago for minor alterations (i.e. shortening the inner liner and adding a bustle). I went in today for my pick-up appointment. Everything looked good, until I looked at the back of my dress. There were three noticeable holes. When I inquired, Teresa immediately became hostile and said hurtful things. The highlights include "It's your fault for buying a cheap sample dress", "Your dress is too tight and you made these holes when you put it on" and "The ring on your hand made these holes when you put the dress on". First of all, one should not make a bride feel bad about wearing a "cheap" or "sample" dress. Not everyone can afford a $10,000 dress on Say Yes to the Dress. We have a budget. Second, I bought a brand new designer dress that was custom ordered with a 8-month-long wait. It was not a cheap sample dress, and I made this clear to her at our first appointment. I am very confident that the holes were created while my dress was at Teresa's shop. She did not apologize once, and I am frustrated by her dishonesty. I took my wedding dress to a different tailor. This tailor immediately confirmed that these holes are "burn marks" from a non-industrial-grade iron that should not be used on delicate materials like a wedding dress. My wedding is two weeks away, and I will be spending a lot of time and money trying to fix a perfect dress that Teresa destroyed. Bride to bride, please do not take your wedding dress to Teresa. I would not hope for this misery and drama that I experienced today on anyone else.

I've had similar gowns altered at other locations that were charging twice the price. The owners are very sweet once you get to know them, especially Alice! I saw a few comments saying they are rude. I personally have never gotten that vibe from them, they are simply just no nonsense people who are direct. They will tell you if they cannot do something that will potentially mess up your garment. I recently got my lace reception dress altered here and they did a great job and handled it with care. I really love them as tailors, they are the best!

That's when the male employee who we originally spoke to came and tried to zip up the dress. It took him ten minutes of constant struggling until with many pins later that he finally got the dress to zip. Upon telling him that there's no way I can zip this at home and if the lady can't do it, how is someone else supposed to help me do it at home he insisted that it's possible. I asked him to try again. It took him five minutes of struggling until he finally got a zipped. If it takes a professional that long, there's clearly something wrong lol. There was no point in me bringing my dress in because the issue was never resolved. His ultimate solution was to pull the dress up, keep yanking on the zip, and then pull it down something which could've been done with no alteration. The whole goal of the alteration was to make it easier to zip since clearly there's a problem with the zipper. Wouldn't recommend.

I found "Dress Right" on a website that gave them an outstanding review. I had taken various pieces…read moreto my regular dry cleaner where they also do alterations. They were unable to alter a suit (sleeves and hem) because of the fabric. It's a stretch cotton twill. Since there's and Eli electricity to the fabric, it is difficult to alter. I sew as well and know that you have to have knowledge of the fabric and experience dealing with stretch cotton. The dry cleaner told me to return the suit. (lol) Nevertheless, I know it could be altered. I just needed the right tailor. In the past, I had taken the suits to the closest dry cleaner. However, since many of the sleeves had buttons at the bottom, in order to hem it they would cut out the buttons and just hem the bottom. Imagine my surprise when I picked up the first suit I had taken there (the cotton twill) and instead of cutting the bottom portion of the sleeve, he lifted it at the top of the shoulder and was able to retain the buttons. I could not believe it! It just looked spectacular! The hem was perfect, nothing out of place, and sewn to perfection. There is a tailor in South Philadelphia I have used (Pat Scioli) on Passyunk Avenue who is a genius. However, it's a little far from me and he is incredibly expensive, with good reason. If I had a piece that I knew would be incredibly difficult to alter, I would take it to him. However, I haven't even checked to see if he is still in business. But he was wonderful, as well. Since this is a review of Dress Right, I'll finish up by saying I have taken many pieces to them since and I could not be more pleased! Dress Right is the place to go in Center City if you want quick, reasonably priced, quality service.

Steve's in old city is far superior. In fact, attempting to alter your garments on your own with your eyes closed would be superior. You've been warned.
