Im…read moregoing to come right out and say I have family and friends in the department so my viewpoint might be a bit skewed. This department is made up of volunteers who go through some very rigorous training. Which means someone is leaving thier nice _______(family dinner,cozy bed, kids ball game- you get it) to save your _________(house, loved one, car or butt). This department also provides fire safety instruction and information to the residents of the district. With a fire prevention & safety officer that goes into the schools, local businesses, church and civic groups all year long giving classes. When he comes he gives away printed material and fire helmets, and brings equipment and most times a fire engine to explore. They also have a Fire Prevention Day (date changes but is usually around the National FPday in October) that invites the community to the main firehouse for an afternoon of fun and learning with fire truck rides (you know you want to) real firehose handling, information tables, hands on demonstrations (think fire extinguishers) and actual BURNING OF STUFF (cars & mock rooms). Last bit- if the shit hits the fan or some drunk rams a car or the smoke alarm started shrieking at 2am I am so very glad that Ken or Doug or his wife Rachel or Chris or John or Peter or George or Margaret or her husband Roy or Leslie or Richie or the whole bunch of others are ready and able to come running in when everyone else is running out.

The play room was unorganized and the toys were run down and outdated. The book area of the kids section was nice and had some stem activities. The rest of the library looked nice and they had a small concession area which was cool.

This is my favorite and most frequented library so far for studying (and I've been to 9 different…read morelibraries this year). There are 3 floors. The 3rd floor is a designated quiet floor. And the 2nd floor, although it's not specifically a quiet floor, is usually quiet enough for me to not need headphones. Also, because there are 3 floors, I am almost always guaranteed to find a free table. There are over 30 tables throughout the library (not including cubicles). They also have a little eating area on the first floor which is great if you plan on being there for an extended period of time/during a meal time. They have some snacks you can buy there as well. You can eat non odorous snack foods in the library, but if you have a sandwich or got food delivered, you need to eat in the cafeteria area. Overall, this is my absolute favorite library. Plus all the staff has been very kind to me and super helpful. 10/10 would recommend if you need a quiet place to study for the day!

Due to the ever changing policies of the US Government, getting a passport for our little girl was…read moreless than a snap. On our first trip, we found out that we needed to make an appointment. After we made an appointment for a few days later and although we checked the web site current regulations where we only needed the parents to show our faces, we were told that they also needed to see our little girl in the flesh. A third trip to accomplish what we set upon. Once we had satisfied all of the obstacles, we submitted the application and now we wait. Hopefully, our little girl can go to Aruba for Christmas. As an aside, both of the people in the post office we very friendly and genuinely seemed interested in helping us acheive our goal. They were informative and at the same time, sensitive to us in our dilemma.

I got a post office box and the postal worker who set it up, had all of my mail forwarded to the…read morenew P.O. box. Now this post office has started returning my packages to the merchant, instead of putting it in the P.O box that I'm paying for. The delivery manager Juan can't explain WHY they can't put my packages in my PO box. I'm missing an expensive package that was supposedly delivered weeks ago. Time to call the postal inspector. Don't bother getting a PO box at this location... it's not worth the aggravation ..

The location is near Whole Foods in Jericho. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is also a park right next door. This is a great place to get schoolwork done if you don't want any distractions.

The study tables on the second floor are okay, but the silent study rooms are very small, and are claustrophobic. The staff is very helpful, but anything is hard to find. Internet is limited, and resources are once again limited. And the worst part is, you have to sign up to get access to their wireless internet connection. It's just a hurdle at every step. I would skip Jericho, and just drive down Jericho turnpike and go to Syosset's library. Trust me...

The children's playroom is a bit small but contained which is very helpful for toddlers. They have a toy doll house, barn, and kitchen along with some dinosaurs, trucks, and blocks. They also have a good selection of Disney and Pixar books which my son loved. I also saw a bunch of private study rooms, an auditorium for events, and what appeared to be a good selection of adult books.
