Back in the old stomping grounds and I hate to say it but this place used to be so much better. The lines & crowd are the same it the experience is way different and not a good way. I lived a few blocks away 10 years ago and used to go here a lot. I could sit all day and work and as long as I bought something it was fine. Brought my husband to experience it and my old neighborhood favorites and it's all different now. We ordered 2 drinks and pasties to go, I went to go sit down and got yelled ask for taking a table...they didn't used to be restaurant seating...and I didn't know, and even so, if I was going to have a brunch or lunch, I'd be annoyed to sit at a bar or facing a window at a communal situation assigned to me and others. Especially at the price point. Our food was fine, nothing crazy special at all. The lunch used to be good years ago but I didn't do lunch this time so I don't know if it is still good. I got tea, so that's pretty hard to mess up (especially in GB) my husband just gets black coffee, so again hard to mess up. Expensive for what we get but I know that going in - it was about sharing my spots and nostalgia and that got blown up by the rudeness. So no, I wouldn't recommend this place anymore and if I moved back I probably wouldn't go here anymore either. There are too many other coffee and lunch spots close by now and that was rude by any culture, and quite unreasonable for a sit down scenario.
While visiting London earlier this month, I stopped by Ozone Coffee one day with the intent to grab a quick coffee before heading over to spend the afternoon at the British Museum. Once inside, I loved the vibe and environmentally driven ethos of Ozone Coffee so much that I decided to have a slow coffee and brunch experience instead. I'm logging this occasion under "GOOD DECISIONS WORTH CELEBRATING" for the following reasons: 1. Phenomenal food - I ordered a dirty chai along with two eggs scrambled with parmesan cheese, gluten free toast, black pudding, and the dish also came with a side of rhubarb jam. Despite the meal being so simple/rudimentary, it ended up being one of my favorite meals from the entire trip! The dirty chai was one of the best I've ever had. The black pudding tasted like a mash up of well-seasoned Pennsylvania Dutch scrapple and country sausage from the American South. The eggs were perfectly scrambled. The gluten free bread was loaded with flavor, and it was on par with the Einkorn bread I had in Tucson, Arizona from the legendary Barrio Bread. The jam brought everything together and was the perfect garnish for each curated bite. Nom nom. 2. Exceptional service - This is a place where teamwork makes the dream work! 3. The industrial chic ambience - The upstairs dining room was well-designed, and I particularly enjoyed the natural light from the oversized windows and the view of the open kitchen and barista's station that I had directly from my seat at the bar. When I went downstairs to use the restroom (aka wash closet), I could also see the area where the coffee beans are ground and other unique features of the building. One of the previous reviews mentioned this restaurant is worthy of a Michelin star, and I wholeheartedly agree!
A very misleading name for practically a restaurant, not a coffee shop. The name is "Ozone Coffee" nowhere in the name does it specify that it does breakfast and lunch. I had no idea what I was walking into. I thought it was going to be coffee roasters specializing in just coffee. I walked in and a blue moustached man asked me if I had a reservation. A reservation for a coffee shop??? Um... I looked around and sure enough the place was organized like a cafe diner of some sort with booths and a fully functioning kitchen smack in the middle of it. People sat around the bar drinking alcoholic beverages and eating food. Nowhere was coffee taking centre stage in any of this. There was a small to go area that was making coffee for customers to take away in disposable cups. I didn't want to drink out of a disposable cup so I continued to line up for a seat to be available. Around 5 to 6 minutes later, I was ushered to sit down and given menus and everything. I was only there for coffee, not a full blown dining experience. This is what I mean when I say MISLEADING. Anyway, there was nothing I could do but go along with it. I ordered my latte, an espresso, and to not look weird I also got fries or chips on the side which came with brown sauce. The fries were EXTREMELY salty and the allegedly homemade brown sauce tasted strange. An odd blend of sweet/savory flavor. I wiped some of the excess salt off my chips and dunked them in the sauce. It was alright actually. After a few bites, I kind of liked it. The coffee was lacklustre. Again, nothing memorable. My husband said his espresso tasted weird, like HP sauce. Savory. He wasn't sure if it was brewed correctly. An unpleasant experience for coffee. Overall, a strange, misleading place. Not the coffee shop I was expecting. I definitely wouldn't call it a speciality coffee place since coffee doesn't remotely take centre stage.
Coffee was outstanding I had an Americano with cow milk and my wife had the iced latte. We ordered the Mushroom Toast with poached egg and the eggs Benedict with belly bacon. The presentation was exceptional and the customer service from all three staff members we encountered was superb. My wife gave her mushroom toast 12/10 and my Eggs Benedict was a solid 10/10. The hostess made the exception of allowing us passage to seat in reserved area upon arrival. Overall I highly recommend this spot in London. Neat and clean hipster chic ambiance and friendly customer service with amazing food and drink.
"I would come here again". Everything about this place (except maybe the wait - hard to hear your name being called) is amazing. The food is to die for and the drinks are . The coffee is obviously also very good - the brew of the day comes with a card to explain more about the coffee and how it was prepared. Highly recommend.
My mom had been talking about Ozone coffee since she had started working in London six months prior to me going the first time. I remember her calling me and telling me it was the best breakfast she had yet in London and I have to agree with her. The vibe is truly hipster, busy and fast-paced. It is something very similar to something you'd find in Brooklyn, or any trendy US metro. It's a fun way to do a weekend brunch before going out to shop the markets. The staff is friendly and efficient. You will probably have to wait in a queue, but it goes fast! We sat on the bar bench that overlooks the open kitchen, it was so much fun! The cooks were very entertaining and incredible at their jobs. Their latte was the best one I had in England, they clearly care about the whole coffee process from the bean to the roasting, to the pulling of the espresso. The milk was done right and the espresso had great flavor. I ordered the Omelette with carrots, zucchini puree, swiss chard, and cheese. It was the best omelette I've ever had. Fluffy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I was able to eat the whole thing despite the size. We also ordered the fries and oh my goodness, they were fried perfectly, tasted incredible and were accompanied by vegan aioli. When in London, this is a must!
Holy jesus the soft brew Ethiopian is a magical experience. It's expensive, takes a while to brew and is gone annoyingly fast, but wowsers. You can't call yourself a coffee snob if you don't try it at least once. Ozone is my favorite space to work. There's oodles of space, free wifi, amazing coffee and really good scrambled eggs. Real estate is tight at lunch when they get slammed from all the nearby office buildings, so you may need to keep your drink orders flowing to avoid a downgrade in seat location or a knowing glare to, you know, move on. read more

After a week of wandering the coffee shops of London, looking for one decent cup of coffee, I made a trip out to Ozone to get breakfast and try their reportedly delicious coffee. I wasn't disapointed. The breakfast was savory and delicious, and the coffee was fantastic! The servers were helpful and seemed genuinely happy to be there---a big switch from the dour servers I'd encountered around the city. Being from Seattle, the land of specialty coffees, I know a thing or two about good roasts, and Ozone has some delicious beans. If you're not into watered down London coffee, head to Ozone for a lovely cup of coffee and their delicious food. read more

Owww, fancy sancy pants! I haven't a dewberry* when it arrived on the scene but I sure am glad it did. Like I have previously gushed about, I do love excellence and the kids at Ozone are indeed rocking the suburbs! I could ramble on about what I think the're about, but I'll let the pro take the stage. It has been a long time coming. Working up to Christmas and organising last minute holiday plans, I bring a new blog post for the new year. Brunch has to be one of my favourite meals, and you know when you visit a cafe, you are looking for that meal that just hits the spot. I had been meaning to check out Ozone Coffee Roasters last year after seeing them at the London Coffee Festival and also being from NZ I am a bit bias as the company and cafe are NZ owners. The inside has a very chic industrial vibe with the kitchen open in the middle of the cafe. Your classic mushrooms on toast bring a something little different mixed with onions and topped with creme friache and emmental. I thought it was seasoned well and was a good portion size, I just wish the food came out a bit hotter. I think from watching the chefs serve up the food, the plates sit on the side for a tad too long whilst plating and heating up the plates could make a huge difference. My dining chum had a few more complaints however. He found the bubble and squeak overpowered the dish, and the pork cheek was a bit lost between that and the hollandaise sauce. However huge thumbs up for perfectly cooked eggs. Overall a few hits and misses, but would return again and would recommend it to fellow diners. We went there with high expectations since it is one of the best rated brunch places in London on yelp. Nevertheless, we were breathtaken by the eggs benedict (a must!) and the really the lovely interior. Last but not least, the staff was very friendly and food got served fast. Only drawback might be the rather high prices; but being in London, it may also be difficult to find something cheaper for the same quality. Therefore, we went again the other day and enjoyed another top brunch. read more

Its a really funky place. Good customer service although the place is really busy most of the time. Came here with my partner and ordered from their brunch menu: big brekkie and the Cornish cakes. absolutely love their well cooked food and enjoyed my experience here. one of the waitress was really friendly as she always look out for us and refill our cups with tap water. Definitely would recommend this place to friends! read more

Ozone was my go-to place for brunch of coffee when I was in London only as a tourist, but now that I am a local well... It's still my go-to place for brunch, coffee, but now also for lunch, afterwork drinks, dinner... It's the place I take my friends or family to when they visit me in London, and usually they ask to go again! Coffee is very good (One of the best you can get in the neighbourhood), pastries are good, brunch and lunch dishes are amazing. They recently began to do drinks/dinner openings too, and at those time the place is decently quiet and becomes the perfect place for a quiet afterwork hangout. read more
pretty good but nothing special. Location: There was around a 20 minute wait at 1310 on a Saturday. The restaurant has that industrial chic look with a slight 'farmhouse' twist (my friend described it that way. It's hard to elaborate but it really does fit). The booths upstairs are pretty comfy though the cushion stops at shoulder height sadly. Toilets here bear a striking resemblance to caravan. Again, they have that slightly farmhousey vibe in keeping with the rest of the restaurant but are also unisex and also, like caravan, feature exfoliating aesop hand wash. Food: Perhaps I should have just stuck to the baked eggs as recommended, but instead we ordered an omelette and an eggs benedict. Both were good but nothing to shout about. We also ordered fries served with Aioli (the Aioli was really nice), and a side of herbed avocado. Assuming you like avocado, order it as a side regardless of what you get. It was the one standout item by far. I personally had a banana milkshake which I loved as well. Particularly as the portion was very generous. Slightly less thick than most milkshakes which some people might take grievance with but I didn't mind. Overall: I really enjoyed it but I think workshop which is similar, and just down the road, is notably better for food. That being said, I'll have to return to try the baked eggs at some point. read more

Loved. Really quality, well made coffee and breakfast (toast and eggs) to go along with it. The space is really beautiful, with lots of natural light and seating. They also play good music and have free wifi. We went to a lot of coffee shops while we were in London. Many of them were good. This was my favorite. read more

Great coffee and food but busy so expect slow service. That said, friendly staff! Plus I tried a cold brew, earl grey coffee for the first time and it was fantastic. Recommend. read more

At first I thought this might be another terribly trendy local placeall decor no depth.but was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and delicious food. The decor is very NYC-Tribeca/Industrial-ish, which personally I love. No bright lights or pastels.this place is all wood and steel and gets down to the business of serving a great brunch. The first time I went here I had the omelette with red peppers and salmon. At the time I thought: Hm, £9.50 for an omelette without even a crust of toast, is this worth it? Oh yes it was big, fluffy and full of flavour. The quality here is excellent. Today I ordered the eggs benedict with salmon which was divine.The chai latte had a nice depth of flavour and even looked lovely (see photo attached). Overall, recommended! read more

A nice trendy coffee shop, full of people just catching up for breakfast, having work meetings or just enjoying the coffee. The coffee is very good. I ordered a Mocha, and they were aware their coffee is what everyone wants, thus why it probably had the least chocolate of any Mocha I've ever ordered. Only when I got to the bottom, did I notice 3 tiny lumps of chocolate :/. However their chai tea latte, is possibly the best I've ever had. Spicy, without being overly "spice" tasting. It's just a shame it comes in such a small glass, you really need two to be satisfied, or have it with a coffee of course. The Smoked fish kedgeree looked amazing, but I went with ordinary eggs and sourdough bread. I couldn't complain, it was good, but wish it had been accompanied by a relish like the Tomato Kasundi at Workshop Coffee. The staff were great, considering as people continually joined our table, they had to keep getting menus and additional drink orders, but everything came and you leave with a smile on your face and the smell of warm roasting coffee lingering in your nostrils and your clothes. The coffee is apparently so good, they'll also roast beans to order for you right there. If you need to ask the price for such a service though, you'd better stick to the supermarket beans :D read more

Beautiful light-filled space with spacious wood countertops and benches facing the window - aka perfect for spreading out and working with books, computer and wifi. Behind the coffee counter there's also lots of seating along countertops, looking either into the coffee area or down into the roasting area downstairs (more seating down there too!) I went on a Sunday morning just before lazy brunch time and the place was buzzing but not overly crowded (they've got plenty of space downstairs in a kind of cozy roasting area, surrounded by burlap bags), the service was really patient as I indecisively searched the menu. I ordered a coffee first and hung out with that for a good 30-40 minutes before deciding on food. For them it was all no worries and even after I'd finished by no means were they pushing me out (only wondering if I wanted more coffee to go with my productivity!) read more
5 stars for coffee, 2 stars for food. Been here twice now and it's definitive that they need to fix the food here. It has a lot of potential given the beautiful space and excellent coffee. I had the toasted fruit bread with butter and jam. The bread itself was underwhelming, not that hot, and the butter is hard as a brick. It doesn't make for an enjoyable toast experience. I also had the omelette. I expected it to have the capsicum inside the eggs, but it was more like an onion omelette and there was so much oil! It was just flavorless and not nice. The coffee though is the saving grace. Well made and presented. Coupled with pretty good service, makes this place worth visiting. read more

Wow ! Why I didn't come before !!! Great Flat white !! It's PERFECT. Beautiful spacious space with brick walls , big windows. Lots of seating , great atmosphere !!! Downstairs they roast their own coffee ! Staff very nice ... I will be back when I need kaffeine in the morning ! read more

Wow this place is really quite nice. Not pretentious at all . Charming open kitchen concept with the coffee roaster open to view and operating during brunch. The menu is well thought out and contains gluten free options. The food is very clean from a dietary standpoint and the prices are reasonable for the pleasant service and wonderful environment. This Coffee house drops off a card with your coffee describing the character of the brew you ordered. Excellent!!! read more
A super neat space, with lots of brick and reclaimed wood, and a wonderful open staircase to a downstairs area where they do their roastin'. They got all your coffee favorites: Espressos, lattes, flat whites, mochas. They do not do American-style drip coffee, but hey, Europe's just weird about that! :) When I was there, you could choose between 3 different coffee roasts. I think I chose the Ethiopian, made into a latte. It was a bit tart. But overall, I had an enjoyable experience, and I'd probably come back if I'm ever in east London again. read more

Ok so I went back to Ozone this morning and thought I'd update my review because I enjoyed my brunch a whole star more than the last time I reviewed. The major contributing factor towards the extra star was that we were seated at the counter upstairs directly in front of the chefs (we sat downstairs last time which felt a bit isolated). We really enjoyed seeing the chefs at work and our own food being made. We saw a few things we'd like to try that we wouldn't have ordered unless we'd seen the finished product. Coffee was good, lots of space, servers are attentive but not annoying and food was good. 4 out of 5 stars! read more

This is the cutest place. The people were super nic and they have the best Cafe mocha I've ever tasted. The food was freshly prepared in an open kitchen. The friendly host had funny anecdotes about his visits to my city in America. read more

My friends and I had a lovely brunch at Ozone. Sitting at the counter was fun because you can watch them make all of the fancy coffee and delicious food. My flat white was delicious and the pina colada pancake was huge, dense and flavorful. My friend reported that the crab cakes were also delicious! This is a great little spot to catch up over a really great cup of coffee and nice food. read more

This place was around the corner when I visited London. Wish it was around the corner where I live. Everything were outstanding! Great espresso, nice breakfast, tasty brunch and delicious dinner.... yes indeed i couldn't help myself and my taste buds from going back trying new things and load up on espresso again and again . The staff were so friendly and watching the cooks work hypnotizing. Easy to understand menu vegan, vegetarian and gluten free..... and meat... read more
