If you qualify, you choose what date and time you come in. When you come in, you show your ID and take a seat as you wait for your study to be called back. During covid it was take home taste tests that you would pick up and take to do at home and fill out the questionnaire at your own convenience. I've done research groups in the past and never have they ever been this complicated to 'be considered'. They really do ask ridiculous questions to the point where you would never get choosen. They did call me saying I qualified for one. I called back and you dont get a live agent...you get a message machine that says you're not selected. Im sure someone from the department will see this and respond so they dont look bad...but...hey...thats how they stay in business right?? Saying they reached out. Dont waste your time. I stumbled upon P&K Research a year or so ago when I began getting really into focus groups. What I like most about this company is not only how simple their screeners are to see if you qualify for the focus group, but also the fact that you can fill out the screener online (if you are sent the screener via email). It would always drive me absolutely crazy when I had to sit on the phone with someone for thirty minutes or more while they read to me each option for each answer. It took so much time and I could never dedicate that much time to a phone call. But P&K has really simplified the process and made it a lot more attractive for me to sign up for a focus group through them. These groups don't pay top dollar for your time, but that's to be expected because almost every single focus group I've done through P&K has been an hour or less. In addition, they are always taste tests where you are asked to use a computer to complete your answers and give feedback. Traditional focus groups use a mediator who forces every individual person in the group to speak up and voice their thoughts. I much prefer P&K's method of using a computer to give your response because you don't feel the pressure to conform with the masses. As for the demographics of the participants, it is always an.... interesting crowd at each focus group to say the least. There are mostly totally normal citizens just looking to make a few extra in cash, but occasionally there are individuals who are loud and make inappropriate comments during the quiet focus group (I.e.: burping loudly during the session, yelling at the technicians for more water, talking to other participants, etc.). I love that this place pays in cash (usually payment ranges between $25-50) and makes it super easy to apply for their groups. They also have focus groups running very consistently (I'm sure a few a week at least). So if you don't qualify for one group, you most assuredly would qualify for another one on or around the same day and time. The parking can be difficult because it's a small lot right out front of their building. But if you get to the location early enough, you shouldn't have a problem finding a place to park! read more

Peryam & Kroll is a privately-owned, market research company that facilitates the accumulation and analysis of consumer-driven data with regard to food packaging, services, and advertising. In short, they pay people cash for taste-testing various products. So what happens--after you register with them--is that you get a call now and again asking if you would like to participate in an upcoming study. It might be a taste-testing for some new coffee products, fruit juices, hamburgers, chips, candy, etc. Possibly, they could be in need of a focus group. It kind of reminds me of the old Pepsi Challenge commercials. It's fun. And when it's complete--studies usually take from 30 minutes to an hour--you're compensated. I believe the last time I participated in a testing, it was for packaged, grilled chicken. For a half an hour, I tried two pieces of chicken, recorded my responses, and was given $25. The main differences between the two are that the payout at P&K is significantly lower, the studies are shorter and do not require a heavily-involved mediator, and the experience at P&K is less of a focus group and more of a consumer study. Instead of huddling in a conference room and discussing ideas like I did at Adler Weiner, I was asked to taste-test a product that had not been released. I wasn't allowed to talk to other participants. During this sensory study, I ate 4 pieces of salty snacks and then filled out a 10 page questionnaire pertaining to the snack. The questions were extremely straight forward, I rated the product based on its flavors, appearance, mouthfeel, and then reported about my prior experience with major snack brands. I was in and out within 7 minutes. After I was dismissed, the lady at the front desk handed me an envelope containing $25 in cash. Easy breezy, always nice to earn some lunch money. The main aspect where P&K fell short of perfection was the screening process. The recruiter over the phone was somewhat unintelligible from speaking too fast, mumbling, and didn't seem to have the most professional attitude when asking questions. I get calls all the time which would be good but majority of the callers sound like high school kids in a large room, having other conversations with each other and then treat you rudely when you say "hello?" Majority of the studies they do, are $20-$30 bucks for an hour or two, and if you're a minute late, you're out from what I was told. Other companies like fieldwork or alder pay 5-10x that for the same times. It's frustrating getting calls over and over again for a study, asking to be removed since I don't want to do a 45 minute study for $15, and yet again, another call to see if I qualify. Excellent, when the website works. I have gone twice to evaluate food & beverages. I actually enjoy the tasting of new food/beverage items more than I really care about the money, but getting paid is nice. The facility is very professional and very clean. Most of the employees seem very .... clinical, but I suppose that is the nature of their job. My only issue is the website. I often get selected for product testing, and the site says it will redirect me to schedule, but then all it does is log me out and I never get the opportunity to participate. This has happened at least five times, including today. Also, for the past couple of weeks or so, the "About Me" section will not let me submit my answers. It just hangs after pressing submit. What a terrible company. I signed up last year and never got one assignment/survey that I was accepted. This company is extremely biassed in either it's selection for males/age/or race. Several times I signed up as soon as I received the prelim application and denied saying they already filled up the category in which I fit. That's absolutely bs. They aren't always filling within 1 minute. Which means this company is a complete scam or just don't sign up if you're a white male. Sent an e-mail with my complaint on this matter. Instead of acknowledging my e-mail they cancelled my account without a response. What a scam. I honestly think the positive responses are either biassed as hell, or fake. Super disappointed! I get calls from their recruiters constantly. I usually turn it down because they do not pay enough. However, this last study I accepted even tho it only paid 30.00. I was planning on being in Santa Ana anyways. I arrived 20 minutes early and was told that I had been on the list for Friday and not today. I explained how would I know that there was a group today at 4 pm if I had not been told to be there? The young receptionist said they cannot change or add people. Only Chicago can make changes but their phones are not working. I asked to speak to a manager and waited and waited until I finally left. I love these guy's I've been coming here since I was in my teens, and they have always been reliable. They contact you on regards, or you can contact them. Their place is very clean and pleasant to be in. Most of the staff are very friendly and can help you with whatever you need. Their surveys are fun, and you get to taste new products and give your opinions on them. The pay is OK, but since your not doing much anyways, it's all free money in the end. The only issue is they need to get their phone lines fixed, sometimes getting a hold of them is like pulling teeth, also re frame from doing the take home surveys because even though they say you'll get your check in two weeks from when the study ended, actually you'll get your check in a month or two three weeks after the study has ended,. so recommend don't do the take home one! read more
