Our house was a flip, and whoever patched up the pool before us did a quick, cosmetic job that started falling apart within months. The plaster came off in sheets, the 1960s tile was covered in decades of calcium buildup, the coping was old red brick with mortar literally crumbling out, and some jets and plumbing didn't even work. The pool was technically swimmable, but it was depressing to look at. This summer our weekly pool cleaner told us the plaster was about to fail completely, so we started calling around for estimates. Most of the big corporate companies gave us inflated quotes and made us feel like just another job number. A trusted friend recommended Oscar's, so we checked Yelp, saw all the great reviews, and gave him a call. Oscar came out immediately, took careful measurements, walked us through every detail, and his knowledge and professionalism instantly won our trust. From there, the process moved quickly. Within a week of signing, his crew demoed the entire pool in just a few hours. We got to choose tile from several suppliers and ended up with a beautiful pebble mosaic that matched our house. At first, we thought we'd keep the old red brick coping, but at the last minute we switched to a modern dark gray brick. Best decision ever! It completely transformed the look of our backyard. As often happens with older homes, surprises came up: our original 1964 gas and electrical lines were corroded and had to be replaced. Oscar handled everything--brought in trusted contractors, coordinated the work, and saved us the headache of dealing with multiple companies. While we were at it, we upgraded our equipment to a top-of-the-line Jandy system with Wi-Fi controls, plus added a heater and automatic pool filler. Yes, the budget went up, but every upgrade was worth it. Watching the transformation was amazing. Once the new tile, coping, and plaster went in, it felt like we had a brand-new pool built from scratch. The white plaster makes the water sparkle, the equipment runs quietly and efficiently, and with the heater and lights, we can swim comfortably day or night, year-round. Beyond the work itself, what made the experience so special was Oscar and his family. He's personable, honest, hardworking, and clearly cares about his craft. His crew was professional, respectful, and fast. By the end, it felt like we weren't just hiring a contractor--we were working with people who truly cared about making our home better. But let me tell you…read moresomething, this is one of those really rare cases that I wished I could give you more than 5 stars. My pool, spa, and waterfall had ongoing issues. Namely, the pump wouldn't run reliably and would run dry. The waterfall didn't work. I had asked 2 previous pool men and they both said something to the effect "Yeah, you know, I think it's too old. You need to gut the whole thing and rebuild from scratch" and then gives me their big ars quote. Here comes Kevin of Deep Blue Sea to the rescue. He studied the mechanicals and pipes carefully and tried a few fixes: new check-valve replacement, new diverter valve, etc. He also suggested to get the pipes checked out for leaks, which I did -- I used American Leak Detection. Although the pipes were fine, the pump still was a bit flakey, so Kevin added an extra check-valve to the intake (as it's a very very long pipe) and changed the O-ring, and finally, voila! Everything's running reliably again! Kevin of Deep Blue knows what he is doing. Fixing the pool requires a lot of patience and it's an iterative process, and Kevin worked through the multiple issues and solved them one by one. Kevin is the man!

The 3rd time I was asking questions about white streaks across the bottom of my pool. He said, and I quote, "I know exactly what kind of customer you are!" I said, plesse tell me, what kind of customer am I? He said the kind that complains about ecery little thing. I said "Billy, i have not complained once on this phone call. i have asked you questions about the bottom of our pool." I asked questions because we just spent $30,000 to have our pool resurfaced and there were no white streaks on the bottom of our pool when we hired Billy. We also asked questions once when our jacuzzi was not heating up and he spoke to my wife and I like we hadn't ever used our jacuzzi. He said the pool water was too high and cold water from the pool was keeping the jacuzzi cold. Ummmmmm, nope, we have kept our pool level the same for 15 years, and it has worked. But, no, Billy refused to even entertain our problem. I refuse to support a business that does not listen to customers. You should hire anyone but Authentic pool & spa. If you do, you will regret it, unless you are a man.
