He always goes the conservative route, which is nice because it shows that he's not out for the Almighty Dollar...he's actually thinking about my health and what's best for me. I have only physically seen one problem while there in the office and have read negative reviews along the same lines. One day I was in the waiting room and a girl came SLAMMING out of the inner office door screaming because she didn't get the pain medications that she wanted and they'd regret it. A lot of the negative reviews I've read are because of people not receiving the pain medications they wanted to receive, too. Think about it: if you go to the ER with chest pain, do you REALLY think that they're going to listen to you when you say, "Do a heart transplant surgery right now!!"? Absolutely not. Doctors start off with very conservative treatments - including medications - and you have to give these conservative treatments a chance to work or not work before moving on to the next level. That's just plain common sense. When/if one treatment doesn't work, you move to the next, and so on. It isn't fair that Dr. Acosta has received negative reviews because some people are too stupid to understand this. One last thing: you most likely WILL NOT see Dr. Acosta every single time that you have an appointment. A lot of times you'll probably see one of the ARNPs (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners) because the doctor is doing procedures on other patients. If this makes you angry, I recommend that you look up what an ARNP is and what she can and cannot do. All in all I highly recommend this office and specifically Dr. Acosta. He has been VERY good to me over the years (and just an FYI, so have the ARNPs) and I feel 2,000,000% comfortable there. If you need a Pain Management specialist that you can trust, then I would definitely give Dr. Acosta a try. :)

The medical assistant, who never introduced herself, was rude when I asked my father to go back with me. She snapped that she would have to ask Melinda, the nurse practitioner. I didn't want to be weighed, and the assistant was rude to me about this as well. She brought me into the room and walked far too fast. It's a pain management clinic--assume that people can't walk fast. She checked my blood pressure with an automatic cuff; at a pain management clinic, a manual blood pressure should be taken. When Melinda came in, it did not get any better. She lectured me about why people cannot come back, and when I explained that I've been treated as a drug seeker by their staff in the past, she continued to lecture me. She told me that tramadol was a narcotic--it's not. She asked if I wanted trigger point injections, and when I explained that Dr. Mikovic said these injections would be bad because of my age. She either did not listen to me or did not care and continued to push me to have trigger point injections. She did not believe that I had rheumatoid arthritis; guess what? People at 23 can have rheumatoid arthritis. I have been told to come back in 8 weeks when I have always been told 12-16 weeks. Not a single one of them listened to me. I will never see a nurse practitioner again; Melinda and the other one I saw three months ago do not listen to patients and they are rude. This office needs to reevaluate their employees and if they want their staff to be so nasty to patients. Pain management is not a choice for most of the clientele, so it would be nice to have someone be kind. I'm sick of this office, and I dread having to go in.

I felt like I was in good hands. His staff is to be commended as well. Whenever I've had a concern, they've addressed my concerns. My knee did swell up with fluid. I was told to come into the office and his assistant drew out 2 1/2 vials of fluid, which can occur. Other than that I had no complications or set backs. I followed the directives regarding my recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Springer for anyone who needs a total hip replacement.

I could not reach anyone from the office and I was without pain medication for 5 days. Worst experience of my life, I thought! Now after 15 month of constant pain, it was determined I am allergic to the metal in the implant and must have it removed. I told Springer this before surgery and his response was "I have never heard of such a thing". Choose your Dr and their practice wisely. If you feels something is not right, trust your instincts and go elsewhere.

She has struggled with upper neck and head pain for over 30 years (c2,c3,c4). The challenge we presented for him was that she cannot take pain medication. He offered an alternative procedure to help with nerve pain. It's been a bit over a month now and she still feels great. I have my wife back to being her normal goofy fun loving self. The reason for the four stars is due to opportunity with the insurance team. We found ourselves having to do the admin work by navigating the insurance company and billing depts for them. On more than one occasion we had to check up on the prior authorization progress only to find the did not have it and we ended up coordinating it on our side with little to no help from them. Despite the need to do the admin work, in the end it was all worth it for the relief my wife received. We can't speak about the other doctors but Dr R has been an absolute life saver for my wife.

I agree they can see patients with routine visits. But when they are ordering diagnostic testing, I want to know that the DR is ordering tests to rule out issues and to find out what is causing my symptoms.

Before scheduling, I confirmed with my insurance company that the facility was in-network for physical therapy. When I brought an outside PT referral, I was told the department only accepts referrals from its own physicians, so I scheduled an appointment and paid a copay solely to obtain the required referral. After following their instructions, I was then informed that the Physical Therapy department does not accept my insurance plan after all. Had I been told upfront that physician and physical therapy services have different insurance participation requirements--or been directed to verify coverage with billing--I could have avoided an unnecessary appointment, copay, and wasted time. What is most disappointing is the lack of acknowledgment or effort to resolve the issue. The problem isn't just the money; it's that patients deserve accurate information before being asked to schedule appointments and incur costs. I strongly encourage future patients to verify both physician and physical therapy coverage directly with the billing department before scheduling. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning.
