Tucked into an alleyway behind Peter's pub and about 2 minutes from Grafton St., Pable Picante isn't the easiest place to find but well worth the effort. We popped in here for a pit stop on a busy Saturday afternoon. Queued at the counter for fantastic burritos - I had the Beefy Barbacoa and my late-teenage companion had the Sunny San Diego with extra guacamole, as you do. (I looked at the menu online afterwards to be told, shockingly, that these contain 820 and 735 calories respectively. You have been warned.) However, having ordered, we repaired upstairs to a surprising airy room with bench seating ideal for large groups of teenagers - which I'm not. It was perfect as was the food which, clearly freshly cooked and expertly wrapped, was delivered to us shortly afterwards. Polished off in 10 minutes, this is an excellent quick lunch spot. A decent burrito but not a lot of choice unless you pay extra. I ended up getting a chicken burrito and it was pretty good. The only thing you get to pick about the burrito is the kind of salsa (6 choices). I got the hottest and I'm happy to say that it actually was hot (mmm). Standard things that normally come on a burrito like sour cream cost extra... Also, most other places let you customize you burrito by selecting the kind of meat, kind of beans, etc. This place had each burrito specifically described including meat choice. That was a bit disappointing for me. You could create your own but that cost more than any other option on the menu. The burrito was a nice size and very filling. The taste was also quite nice. I also liked that they have a good variety of drinks to pick from. Juice boxes were even available! If you are a student you are in luck, you get a burrito and a drink for €6, not bad. read more

From far my preferred burritos in town. I really enjoy this place and the atmosphere. I have been there many times and already exchanged my loyalty card twice for free burritos. They have there a good variety of burritos flavors and they are all super delicious. Differently from other burritos places, you do not decide what is going in your burritos ingredient by ingredient. They offer you a combination and you only choose the sauce spice level. Maybe that is the great thing about this place: no one is like,huumm, put rice, no more beans, not this one, the other one. Bleh! I hate to wait. The service there is super quick and that's something I like a lot. Student special! Yay. Includes a beverage. Ok:) Big portion, normal burrito. I got the Mexicali Mince, which was suppose to be mince beef and chorizo (there was no chorizo that we could make out). When my dear friends from Smurfit introduced me to this place I wasn't sure what to expect. I love Mexican food, but I don't like the super hot spicy sauces that they use. Weird enough? LOL Anyway, I took quesadillas with chicken because I was not super hungry and I have to say, what a surprise! The tortillas are very soft and the cheese, OMG I am in love! I am a huge fan of sauces (normal ones XD) and I was so pleased when I discovered there are two with this plate, guacamole and pink sauce (we call it this way in Italy, no idea of the english name - still it's mayo and ketchup together :D). I totally recommend this place, even though you are not super hungry for a whole burrito, just take the simple quesadilla + chicken and you'll be fine :) Awesome place if you are in a small group, because there is plenty of space upstairs! I'm a big fan of Mexican/Tex-Mex food. I've lived in California, Arizona, and Texas so I'm confident to say I know something about burritos. I'll go out on a limb here and say it was the best burrito I ever had. The Sunny San Diego is out of this world. The burritos are a decent size making it a great value. I love a good Burrito;rice, meat, veg and cheese, who wouldn't love that, but I'm fairly picky about where I go for a good one having been disappointed before in Burritos from anywhere that isn't Boojum. Went out on a limb today and tried Pablo Picante for the 3rd time in as many years and it was fine, better than no food but not really worth the trek through town. I went for the Mexicali mince after a swift glance at the menu, I'm slipping into old lady mode here but I find their menu hard to read and couldn't find a printed one to sit and choose from so, under pressure to order, I went for the 1st one my eyes landed on. It was grand, a mix of chorizo, mince, black means and rice, there may have been a bit of veg but not enough to make itself known, the entire thing was waaaaay too spicy, I always go for salsa verde and it's never blow your head off spicy but lordy that's what I got. They may have available guacamole, cheese or sour cream but it wasn't offered when I ordered and I didn't really feel like I could ask too many questions. Oh, also, in the 10 minutes it took me to get home the burrito had become too cold to really enjoy. On the plus side I can recommend the pulled pork tostada from Pablo's tosta's next door. read more

This place is an American's saving grace. Mexican food is a pervasive and delicious element of our cuisine, and Europe never got the message. sure, Captain America's has 'quesadillas', as exciting as week old toast. go here instead! This place does mostly burritos, SoCal style ( huge with lots of meat). they also have some import beers, including the highly vaunted Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, another thing I've missed in my Dublin days. I think I've tried all the burritos, and they're all pretty good. The last one I had, the senor slim Delgado was probably the nicest, cause its a bit cheaper, and also not as big as the others so you don't come out of the place bloated. I've filled up one loyalty card, so I'll splurge on a huge barbacoa burrito next time I'm there :D just a few gripes: there is never enough salsa available! open up your hot sauce wall and let me at the delicious cholula! let me bathe in Dave's insanity sauce! let me shower in Tapatio! I guess its not that big an issue, as the salsa isn't THAT great, and the burritos always have a salsa in them anyways. The other gripe is that the beer is EXPENSIVE! something like 4 Euro for a bottle of Pabst. Pabst is for quaffing, for getting drunk and comparing tattoos and ear gauge sizes while riding fixed gear bikes, not sipping and enjoying and feeling buyer's remorse! Also, they don't take cards, so they can dodge the tax man like a boss. Yelp's Burrito Blow Out all began here, at this little Mexican gem tucked away near the Stephen's Green Shopping Center. I've only ever had burritos from one place ever and I loved them, so I had high expectations. Sadly their burritos did not live up to my previous experiences. I think I may have ordered a not-so-great mix of flavours as my husband loved his, so my three stars are going solely on my opinion of my burrito. The burritos are fresh and the choice of salsas are great. I went for a mild smokey salsa as I wasn't feeling too much like burning my face off. I had a standard burrito from the menu - San Diego Chicken. There was a startling lack of sour cream, guac or cheese in my burrito, which was highly disappointing. The burrito also dripped sauce out the end, and was a little soggy. The burrito did stay together quite well however. The free can was also very welcome with my meal. They also sell root beer and aloe vera drinks. What a great selection! One thing to definitely comment on here is the extremely spicy sauce my husband ordered (in Spanish, I was so proud!) was exactly that. He has lived in Mexico and knows what authentic Mexican spice tastes like. Boy was he not disappointed! The decor is great - no frills. I really liked the story of the restaurant on the wall, and when I ventured upstairs to use the bathroom, I noticed there is quite a sizable amount of room up there. Came here awhile ago and somehow forgot to yelp it. I'm shocked by myself (and might go back tomorrow which made me remember). I got the Victorio Verde and shared chips with guac and salsa and everything was great except for the salsa...which was like water and had no flavour. The burrito was really delicious though, as most things with feta cheese are, I'm hoping I just got a bad batch of salsa. Nice place tucked away on a side street. Varied seating options with large tables with bench seats and also high counters with stools for those by themselves. I had the Cali Carnitas burrito, but substituted pinto beans for the black beans. The menu has a short list of preset burritos, but you can also go full on custom and build your own 'El Freestyler'. The burrito was pretty good, juicy enough, but not too juicy to make a mess. I went for the number 4 salsa which was tasty, but not as close to my spice threshold as I thought it would be, so next time I will try the next hotter one. I'm a regular Pablo Picante customer (among a few other Burrito places at this stage; I'm an addict). Having been introduced to it through work friends, I haven't looked back. Beefy Barbacoa with picante and extra Jalepenos please. Or maybe super picante if I'm feeling brave. I love this place, and it is a close contest between Pablo's and Boojum for the best Burrito in Dublin in my mind. Pablo's has a set menu; Boojum is more flexible in content of your Burrito in terms of type of rice, beans etc. However, Pablo's is great flavour, and dare I say better salsa? It has more heat available, and gotta say...that hot sauce collection is incredible! One point in which Pablo's wins outright is that they put you Burrito on the grill after it is made up, toasting it through. This makes a massive difference, or at least it does in my mind, and is something I wish Boojum would adopt (hint hint). I have not yet decided where to plant my flag of allegiance in Dublin's Burrito land...but dayyyyummm Pablo puts in a good fight for it. i love you, i mean...great burritos! if you're not usually a fan of mexican food, try it out because chances are you'll freaken love it! just pick the cremosa salsa as it's like not spicy at all. (: they have a sweet student deal, where you get your choice of like 6-7 burritos & a bottle of water or can of soda-pop for €6, bargain! if you're not a student, you'll have to fork up an extra few coins but i think a meal like that would only be like 7-9 euros depending on which burrito you pick! i know this isn't really THAT relevant but i LOVE the decór so much! & they usually play some sweet mexican rap. if i could give it 4.5 stars, i would .. but i just can't give it the full 5 because their location in temple bar..their burritos just taste a little bit better, like love made them! read more

The Clarendon Market outlet has outdoor sitting area on a pedestrian lane, nice spot to sit and watch the people walking buy. I love trying mexican food wherever I go. Pablo Picante was legit and totally lived up to my very high expectations! Got a veggie burrito and almost died when I saw valentina hote sauce in Ireland. If they had Tapatio I would have died. I didnt even use the valentina though, the house salsa was perfectly spicy and delicious!! The guacamole was better than some places in California which had me researching where they could possibly get avocados for this creamy deliciousness. Pablo did NOT disappoint. Pablo Picante was host to the kick-off party for the Yelp Dublin Burrito Blow Out, on Tuesday 12 November. A select VIP section of the Dublin Yelp crowd was invited and we were awarded free food, a short presentation on the history of the burrito in Ireland and, Special Surprise, free tequila and Mezcal, courtesy of the Mexican embassy. Regretting all that free Mezcal the next morning, I realised that I had not gotten a stamp in my Burrito Passport for this venue, so a return visit was in order. I carefully planned it in after a rugby game between South Africa and Scotland but it was so one-sided that I actually started to wonder if the pitch extended beyond the halfway line and I left at half time to make my way to Pablo Picante on Clarendon Market. I decided on the Sonny San Diego, a chicken burrito that went well with their smokey salsa, I was informed. When I showed my Elite Yelp Burrito Passport, I was given a discount and a free drink which, unfortunately only extended to soft drinks. I got a bottle of Sol as well because that is a way better drink to wash down a burrito than 7up. After a couple of minutes, my burrito arrived. It was served in one of those bowls that are normally used in pubs for serving chicken wings or those tiny sausages with a cocktail stick in the side. For burrito-eating purposes, however, this was not ideal. I always like to set my burrito down and spread the guacamole and salsa around it so I can apply it to the burrito with a fork for each bite. With these tiny bowls, this was somewhat problematic. On to the burrito itself then- it was good. It was big enough for a meal, the chicken was tender (though perhaps a bit on the dry side) and the ingredients mixed well. I really enjoyed my burrito, but somehow I felt something was missing. The meat wasn't exactly as spicy as I expected but this problem was easy to resolve with the help of a bottle of Valentina hot sauce. The guacamole was excellent. When working out the end result of my estimation of Pablo's burritos, I filled out the page in my Burrito Passport and came to an average rating of 3.4, just shy of a 4star rating. This was until I remembered the super secret category that even your Burrito Passport doesn't mention- the rating for 'Throwing secret parties with free food and hard liquor'. In this category, Pablo Picante scored 5/5, which lifted the rating average to 3.55, which allows for 4star approval. Just a couple of points of attention: If they could provide bigger plates, that would make it a lot easier to eat your burrito. And a 60 cent surcharge for sour cream is a bit steap in my opinion, I expect to get that for free. All in all, I walked out of the door a happy and slightly fatter man, and I even got to do my good deed for the day by donating my can of 7up to a girl who had just sat down beside me and didn't have a drink to go with her burrito. read more

Sunday evening and we were in the mood for some good Mexican food and as I never tried Pablo Picante and thought how about it as its open on Sunday. We ordered the Victorio Verde burrito for my friend and I had the same just as the burrito bowl as it sounded really yummy and I liked the feta cheese in it. As side dish we had tortilla crisps with guacamole. The order came within in minutes and we did not have to wait long which was good as we both been starving and just wanted to dig in enjoy our dinner. But while waiting for the order I saw that the one took the tortilla crisps out of bag instead having fresh and crispy ones, well I thought ok no prejudices they might turn out good. Sadly they tasted exactly the way my fearful mind thought- just plain no real flavor and the guacamole which was served with it was tasteless and even my friend who is the less fussy eater I ever met said slightly watery... My burrito bowl was spicy but not rich in flavor and even you like spicy just spicy is just not what good Mexican food is about. Nor did I taste the lime rice which was one of the things I was looking forward the most, as I haven't seen this in Dublin before thought happy days...well not for me.. All in all I was quite disappointed with my entire dinner and experience at Pablo Picante. I still gave them 2 stars as the location is great, love the interior and seats outsides but for the food was just not satisfying me at all. I went back for the second time to pablo picante today afternoon, and I was really disappointed this time. When we arrived in the restaurant, I asked the women if it was possible to have the same as a burrito, but since I have to eat gluten free and then I couldn't eat the normal burrito, if it was possible to have it on a plate with a few tacos chips on the top of it, just like last time I came, but this time, for some reasons, she decided it was impossible, she didn't even said something like "ok but since it's not a normal recipe I would have to charge you one euro more, like when we add guacamole or something", what I would definitely understand, she just said no, that's impossible. So since I didn't really had any other choice, I took a burrito on a plate with no taco or anything, what she charged as a normal burrito, of course... She asked us if we were student, we both said yes, but after we paid we realized that she actually charged us for the normal menu AND the drink, so not the student deal... Our orders came, and I noticed, as I saw it in other comments below, that it's so un-eco friendly to put some plastic plates and plastic everything for people who eat in. What is even more strange given that they have this "save a tree take only one napkin" at the collecting point... so save a tree but we don't care about the planet ? Ok... The real reason is probably more their savings... Anyway, I was also really disappointed by my plate this time because it was definitely not as good as the other time. It was soaked in the water, the red bean puree under the meat was so tasteless that I didn't even noticed it in the beginning and thought they forgot it, the rice was almost missing, and they were no salad at all... Glad they were a few cold little pieces of meat to give a kind of taste to all of this... Nope, next time I'll go somewhere else. read more

This is probably one of the best burrito places in Dublin. All varieties of burritos are available, the service is excellent and the ingredients are fresh. Beware of their hottest sauce though. I love spicy food and I found their spiciest sauce to be a challenge. The first time I came here six months ago and had a veggie burrito. It was alright as far as I remember. Recently I went and ordered a veggie burrito 'bowl', basically the burrito ingredients are supposed to come as a salad without the tortilla. The nice lady at the till asked if it was to eat there or to go. I ordered to stay. I went to sit on the nice seating outside, which is great on a sunny day. When she brought out the food - it was in a plastic container, with a cover, the same as it would be probably if you ordered "to go". And for some strange reason, the contents of the plastic container looked more like a soup than a salad! The roasted peppers and rice and beans were kind of floating in a spicy watery sauce, with a pile of guac on top. There was not much rice.. and it all felt kind of weird. On top of that, i had to eat it with a plastic fork.. which makes anything worse. I think we should start rating places based on their eco-print as well. I really get annoyed when you order to sit in and you still get food served in takeout containers that are thrown out into the garbage when you're done. That's the main reason why I don't go and just buy takeout! What happened to reusable plates and cutlery and washing? Wasting so much plastic for one meal is just very unpleasant. It was also ironic that they have a sign next to their napkins saying "take one, save a tree"! So although the decor of the place is nice, I'm not coming back here again. read more

One of the guys at work told me about it and after buying one for lunch I had to go back and buy another for dinner (I was horribly hungover at the time and they were exactly what I wanted!) My favorite being the Beefy Barbacoa, though I have tried a good few of the burritos and all were pretty delicious. I'm a big burrito fan anyway but for me Pablo's is streets ahead of Boojum and Burrito's & Blues ( which as far as I'm concerned is utterly tasteless) I urge anyone who's had a bad experience here to chalk it down to an off day and give it another go, you won't be disappointed! After the first Blow-Out event, where we were treated to enough nibbles to fill me and enough tequila and mezcal to somehow not get you drunk but should, I decided to go back into Pablo's on a quiet Friday afternoon for a proper lunchtime taste of a full burrito on an empty stomach. I chose the Senor Slim Delgado as it looked like it could fill me without stuffing me to the gills (my portion sizes are smaller than most and I hate food waste) and I love feta and guacamole. I chose the three star level of salsa which name escapes me. I sat down at their downstairs high stools and listened to the pleasant low hum of The Beastie Boys playing in the corner as I waited for my order. The burrito as soon as you bite into it is a beautiful squish of lime, chicken, chili, feta and beans. (nom nom nom). It was just the right size and density for me, probably owing to the lack of rice in it. The spice was all in the second half of it, but I slooshed away any mouth-tingling with the bottle of water. The Pablo staff are lovely and I can see the place is really popular for the right reasons - I was burrito number 224 or thereabouts! I went again the next Friday on my afternoon off just because the Slim was so tasty. Strangely it wasn't as well didn't taste as nice, or as well-distributed, but I'll let that one go. Pablo's burritos are honestly the best Burritos going. having lived in San Diego and had more then my fair share of Mexican food you can take it from me Pablo Picante will not disappoint! their customer service is amazing, they once even made me my fave burrito (Sunny San Diego) when i arrived after last orders!! the staff are friendly and the food is always awesome. for any one who loves mexican food pablos is a must read more

Almost impossible to find, but worth the search! Tasty burritos, decent prices, overall good value. Chips with guacamole are a joke, they really are taken out of the bag... and they are 2.50. While some parts of the menu might not be up to standard, Pablo Picante is great for lunch. Especially if you are a student: 6 euros for a burrito + drink. Recommended. read more

Best burrito I have had so far since I wanders in last year for lunch (or was that two years ago). Mexicalli with smokie relish is my go to. You can taste the flavours as opposed to some other burrito shops where it was just plain (meh). I moved here from Texas not too long ago, so I know a thing or two about Tex Mex food. I think I could happily eat Pablo's every day of the week. Every thing I have had there has been incredible. The carnitas and Sunny San Diego burritos are delicious especially with the true hot sauce they have there - Valentina. They also give you the option of 5-6 different salsas, which makes for an even tastier and more flavorful lunch! Even with a large queue the staff are quick and efficient. Good price for the portion as well - huge burrito! If you are craving simple Mexican, go to Pablo's. You can't go wrong! If you are getting it to go, I'd suggest getting yours in a bowl, with the tortilla on the side. That way, you don't have a soggy tortilla by the time you get home, and you can make a ton of little tacos with the tortilla and the bowl. YUM! read more

Got the super pecante salsa and after a warning of how hot it was from the fella behind the counter, it turned out to be mild and there was no hot sauce on the table.
