No one to play with, poor Fiona!

Conveniently off the Cabrillo Highway (1 PCH) lies this little dog park. Off the Pacheco Ave exit, towards the residential area. You'll find this place to be quick and easy for your dog to do his/her duty. It's pretty much park on the street, but it's not very busy. At least when I went. It appears there is no weight or size limit, but this overall park size seems good enough. I can only imagine the amount of dogs here during rush hour. The place is covered with wood chips, offers a few benches, and ample shade from the huge trees. More shade towards the back and corner areas. This place has a convenient faucet for water, which is a definite plus, and a few bowls. The people here seemed friendly. I think my dog would give this place 3.5 stars.

Nice dog park! This is a fenced in, "all dog" dog park (as opposed to a small section and a mixed section). The dogs are friendly, and the people are nice. Water is plumbed in, trash cans, easy parking. There is a regular crowd who appears to come at about 3:30pm during the week.

    Nice dog park.

Our dog enjoyed getting off leash and running around. The park is covered with clean bark, water is available and a few places to sit.

    So many smells

This is the biggest small part of the dog park I've ever seen. It's about a quarter of an acre. There's a lot of shade and it's in a very nice park. That doesn't seem to be any water in the small dog park. I'm here during the summer and the surface is dirt and weeds. I imagine when it's raining, this place will be quite muddy. Parking is on the street nearby.

Small dog side Large or All Dog side Water fountains NO bags provided - bring your own A little bit of scoops, but don't bank on it Trash cans Port-o-pottie Shade and sun Lawn chairs Picnic tables to sit at MULTIPLE entrances (half double gated, half not double gated) This is a very nice dog park with a lot of natural terrain, hills and flat areas. If not stable on your feet keep to the flat spots. Nice water fountain, but they were clogged - so I fixed them all with my special dog park screwdriver. Now the flow. Nice people, friendly, knowledgeable. The all dog section is soooo big I'm seriously wanting a Bluetooth "Tile" on my Schipperke as he easy to loose in the all dog section. One serious complaint is the two SINGLE gates. All dog parks should have double gated entrances. One could easily be modified to a double. The other should be padlocked until they figure that out (I would just lock it, people can go around). They should also put a double gate between the two sections so people don't accidentally let my dog out of one section and into the other. That DID happen once and it was not a good situation. I would gladly help fund raise for the additions, or padlocks. Other issue is the water run on all dog side off has two dips that go out and smaller dogs can totally get out of the gap. Just put a bit of concrete down at those spots with a drain that blocks - or stick rebar (or stainless steel) in the ground so dogs can't get out. Again, this is our 120th dog park. Thumbs up, overall.

This park is workable grass and dirt areas. it's bigger than most and has seating, benches, and both small & large dog areas.

And it has potential but when we visited in September, it was covered in seaweed with seaweed flies/kelp flies all over, making it difficult to navigate and enjoy. Hopefully it was a time of year or time of day issue...or maybe it's the nature of the cove. We read a handful of other reviews about the seaweed too (I get it, it's the ocean. But still, we've been to many other off-leash beaches that feel cleaner). We'll give it another try when we visit Santa Cruz again. Location: It's about 1.0-1.5 mile from the boardwalk/pier. We walked over and it was a pleasant walk through the neighborhoods. Parking: I believe that there are a few spots on West Cliff Drive. Entrance: You walk down a few steep flights of steps to get there from West Cliff Drive.

Located about a mile and a half from the Boardwalk, Michell's Cove Beach is accessible from highway 1. It's a moderately steep walk down the stairs to the beach so consider the shape you and your dog are in to get back up to the road. Mugdha K is correct the beach is filled with seaweed, but we found an area that was clean and clear of seaweed. This was Lola's second time to a dog beach, and she had a blast digging holes in the sand, rolling in the sand and chasing the waves. I live 48 miles from the beach, so this is a special treat to bring my dog Lola to Santa Cruz and find a place for dogs on the beach.

Is in honor of Joshua Levine who lost his life after being struck by a car and his dog Ozzi never left his side. Overall I stopped going to this dog park: People drop their dogs off and leave a lot. Like daily. Others have said the same thing. I don't care if they are skating, they are just plain gone. They don't know if their dog went to the bathroom and needs to be cleaned up, they are not around but all interior gates are open so I can't go in without possibly letting their dog out. One dog was snarling at me though the gate. People with no dogs sit on the bench in the big dog section and drink alcohol. The stupid irresponsible "pools" (sorry I just have to say this) never get dumped and so tadpoles literally grow in them. If you want a baby in a diaper playing in the "pool" (actually a big sandbox) with your dog have at it, but tainted water should never be an option at dog park. Dogs get sick on that garbage. I have let the "powers that be" know my thoughts (they asked, I told them). Has a big dog side and a small dog side. Has water, bags provided, trash cans, portopotties, paved parking right by the dog park, plenty of shade in the big dog side. The ground now has wood chips. One bench in big dog side. More trash cans to come as they raise money. $9000 is all that they had to spend and I think they did an outstanding job with only that much. Still more work to be done. My choice of stars is NOT necessarily where my head is at, I just want to write a review. Because the City is being so responsive and accommodating I don't want to give them less than they deserve, but the people make a Park and these people check out daily. This is a quick review so pardon the jumping around. I'm rather over this experience. When kids purposely skate in parking lot specifically to make it hard for dog park patrons to park? Something is very wrong. Honestly? It's a lost cause at this point.
