We have visited this dog park 5-6 times. This park is not used much, but it is there in case you dog needs to get out, or likes to run in an open space alone. Few people are there, it would seem. Update. Today we went and some people and 3 dogs actually showed up so maybe it is being used more than we know. For me? When I am in the neighborhood I just want my dog to run for a few so it totally works for me. If you want a bunch of friends to play with? Go to Polo Grounds Dog Park. What this dog park has: Water fountains, nice benches, shade, wide open space with 4 ft fences. It has a small dog section and the latches should work to separate the all dog section from the small dog section. Parking is right in front. I have not found messes left behind which is a plus. The water fountains needed to be washed out but I did that today with my handy dandy screwdriver with a special hex type bit (9-12-2012). Go to the far edge of Pinto Lake Park, go through the gate and it is very soon on the right hand side. It is at the end of the parking lot closest to Green Valley Rd. Oh, and they recycled a sign from the Polo Grounds Dog Park....but this is NOT the Polo Grounds. The rules are the same.

This is a horrible dog park. The best part is that it is fenced and has a water faucet…read more Annie had a great time meeting 4 overized loveable dogs. Had they not been there, this trip would have been pathetic. There is just old gravely dirt and no sign of grass for miles. Not that it has to have an apparatus for the dogs to play in, on, or under, but that would be nice. If you're in the area, there's a dog park in Morgan Hill on Edmunson that has grass.

I went today to the Gilroy, CA dog park for the first time. No one was there so I can't give it any…read moremore than 3 stars because half the experience is the people and dogs who go there. Due to that, I will just tell you what you need to know about layout. The Gilroy Dog Park is located in a nice city park with plenty of parking, bathrooms, & picnic tables in the park. I *loved* the multiple signs pointing the way to the dog park! The park appears to be maintained. In the dog park there is: A section for "small dogs" & a section for "large dogs" (not the typical small & ALL sections I am used to). Small dogs can go into the large area *at owners risk* (typical of my other dog parks). Note: I have a "small" dog but almost always go into the "all" dog sections of dog parks. The dog park has lots of trash cans, doggie poop bags in dispensers posted in many locations, shade, benches, fresh water in both sections, "push bar" gates, 4 foot fences and a bulletin board. The ground appears to be dirt but it might be "decomposed granite" that needs to be refreshed (see photos). My only complaint was that the water drain on the "big dog section" was clogged and backed up, I am currently asking around for who to contact to fix it. Today, 18 July 2012, it was only 84 degrees at 12 noon. Hopefully this is not the lamest review I have ever given for a dog park.....but I did want to 1.) add this dog park in Yelp (check), 2.) tell ya'll what you should know (check) and post multiple *good* photos (check). If I go back, if my dog gets to play with others I would be happy to give the place more stars. I am *not* from Gilroy nor do I go to Gilroy often, but my 2 year old dog has gone to more than 30 dog parks and I have something to offer in that department.

This is a very nice spot in a nice neighborhood. When I got here, there was a sign on the large dog…read morepark saying it was going to be closed for maintenance, but there were no small dogs in the small dog park so we went in. This is the biggest small part of the dog park I've ever seen. It's about a quarter of an acre. There's a lot of shade and it's in a very nice park. That doesn't seem to be any water in the small dog park. I'm here during the summer and the surface is dirt and weeds. I imagine when it's raining, this place will be quite muddy. Parking is on the street nearby.

This is out 120th dog park located near UCSC (University California Santa Cruz) on the west side…read more It is run by Santa Cruz Parks and Rec. Small dog side Large or All Dog side Water fountains NO bags provided - bring your own A little bit of scoops, but don't bank on it Trash cans Port-o-pottie Shade and sun Lawn chairs Picnic tables to sit at MULTIPLE entrances (half double gated, half not double gated) This is a very nice dog park with a lot of natural terrain, hills and flat areas. If not stable on your feet keep to the flat spots. Nice water fountain, but they were clogged - so I fixed them all with my special dog park screwdriver. Now the flow. Nice people, friendly, knowledgeable. The all dog section is soooo big I'm seriously wanting a Bluetooth "Tile" on my Schipperke as he easy to loose in the all dog section. One serious complaint is the two SINGLE gates. All dog parks should have double gated entrances. One could easily be modified to a double. The other should be padlocked until they figure that out (I would just lock it, people can go around). They should also put a double gate between the two sections so people don't accidentally let my dog out of one section and into the other. That DID happen once and it was not a good situation. I would gladly help fund raise for the additions, or padlocks. Other issue is the water run on all dog side off has two dips that go out and smaller dogs can totally get out of the gap. Just put a bit of concrete down at those spots with a drain that blocks - or stick rebar (or stainless steel) in the ground so dogs can't get out. Again, this is our 120th dog park. Thumbs up, overall.

This park is workable grass and dirt areas. it's bigger than most and has seating, benches, and both small & large dog areas.
