Suffice to say, the experience was traumatic and left me with a whirlwind of both physical and emotional issues as a result of the other driver's negligence. The last thing on my mind was trying to recoup some sort of compensation for the trauma inflicted upon me, but the reality was that my medical bills, my lease, and any future issues I would have needed to be paid out because of this truck driver. Tim Ryan's law firm was extremely helpful in making sure I was compensated for all of the above. My partner and I were able to easily walk in after some time at the hospital to schedule a consultation, discuss what happened at the scene, and go through a plan of action on the same day of the accident. I can honestly say that his law firm took care of everything from dealing with insurance to updating me along the way until the final resolution was achieved. What was a traumatic incident became slightly more bearable knowing that Tim Ryan's law office was handling all the post-accident paperwork and negotiation that I really did not want to deal with when my mind was focused on recovery.

They canceled an appointment I took time off work for - just 15 minutes before it was supposed to start. I would email them to make sure they're aware of certain details or developments of the case, or would request information, and would be completely ignored or receive a response addressing only part of my original message. Tim Ryan himself is forgetful, unresponsive, and unprofessional - going so far as to send a snarky email when he learned I hired a different attorney for another case. "Say hello to my good friend Gary." Tim also referred to me by different clients' names on multiple occasions. They settled one of my cases for the bare minimum offered by my own uninsured motorist policy when the other party's insurance denied the claim. They didn't bother challenging the decision or filing a lawsuit against them despite the insured being clearly liable in causing the accident and fleeing the scene. They left money on the table and opted for an easy settlement instead. This firm is lazy, sloppy, and downright disrespectful. Don't waste your time.

Where do I start ? Back in the day of the mortgage melt…read moredown, I needed help with a bad mortgage and McFarlin was retained to do so. It was don't pay your mortgage and pay me + $2000 a month for the year it took to resolve the issues. In and of itself, yes, I was able to keep my home and not have the evil mortgage company (They were GMAC then Homecomings and then OCWEN, finally PHH Mortgage) from foreclosing after I began the process as there was violations of TILA and RESPA - I believe there were something like 14 total violations written into my loans. What I didn't know until years later after hiring other lawyers to research all of this is that McFarlin was getting paid by both me and the mortgage company. That's illegal for those who don't know. Over the years, I have attempted to contact the firm, only once was I able to see and talk to McFarlin in the office when I went and sat in the lobby and wouldn't leave until he saw and spoke to me. He told me he was being investigated by the California BAR (CALBAR). He was, he still is. He is on their hit list for all the fraud he has committed over the years, that's what they told me. The CALBAR is incredibly incompetent and can't do much correctly, and remember that lawyers run the courts and the laws are written by them to help only lawyers, it's not about you at all. The customer? Who's that and why do they matter? - We don't matter. I've been chasing McFarlin to assist me for nearly 2 years after discovering the he had taken the HELOC I had along with all the fee's (for the lawyers and interest etc.) and wrapped it up into a balloon payment due at the end of the mortgage at 0% - sounds great right ? Well, no. Now that the rates had dropped I wanted to refinance this (starting in 2019) and I can not, as the mortgage is locked with the balloon payment and now in order to refinance one I would need to refinance both. PHH will not release one loan to refinance and will not help with a loan modification to help reduce the costs. The lawyer who created this issue, and was paid by me and the mortgage company, will not help or get back to me. The bottom line, I owed more on my home in 2020 than the original purchase price of it in 2006, after paying for it (with a conventional 30year loan - it was not an interest only) for nearly 15 years - folks - that's 50% of the time on the loan. The balance should have been 50% (approximately) of the original loan balance by then. I will end up paying more than 150% of the initial cost of the home, then add on to that the interest over the years and the numbers are astronomical. WHY ? Because my lawyer, Tim McFarlin won't and didn't take care of me, he's in it to line his pocket no matter how nice he seems. If he cared, he would have resolved this issue, as he's had a ton of time to do so. Now, because of it, I've reported you to the CALBAR - and I'm not the only one that have them looking into you, counsel and you've forced my hand to write up this to tell everyone to stay the heck away from you and don't believe that you will help them in the way that you say. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble. Please avoid like the plague and I don't mean Covid, McFarlin's worse. Cheers. PS - feel free to contact me, I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

My friend and I had two civil cases of a personal nature, and being of a personal nature, were incredibly stressful while they were ongoing. Most of our stress came from having to understand how to navigate the legal system, and to trust that we were in good hands with the Geurts team. Our cases resolved favorably, avoiding trial to our greatest relief, and presented outcomes that we found quite acceptable. I had tried out a few attorneys, before seeking out the services of Phil Geurts, and they were all probably good, but I'm glad I stayed on with Geurts' Law Firm who helped settle our cases in about a year's time, which was not bad at all, considering the arduous and time consuming nature of litigation, in general. The team consisting of Phillip Geurts, Ethan Nelson, Alex and their other helpful legal assistants, assisted in our cases. In my cases, Ethan Nelson deftly helped navigate the issues on hand and provided excellent service. As for the expenses, as we know, protracted litigation can be expensive, but overall, the costs we incurred were reasonable and well worth the successful resolution of our cases. I would, therefore, highly recommend you use the intelligent and caring services of Phil Geurts and his team, if you are located in California, Nevada, or Utah.

If you want a law firm that will actively sabotage your case and your life, hire Geurts Law Firm…read more This team is completely incompetent and grossly negligent.  First, they cycled me through three different paralegals and actually filed my lawsuit without my consent, knowledge, or final approval, completely ignoring my explicit written requests for edits.  Second, their paralegal actively sabotaged my medical funding. She told third-party lenders that we didn't have the defendant's insurance information, even though I had already provided the firm with video evidence confirming the carrier. Instead of fixing their mistake, the staff gaslit me, telling me to "trust in them or don't," and Phil Geurts actually called my documented proof "insane" and "defamatory".  The absolute worst part is their shady, retaliatory tactics. When I held them accountable for their errors, they retaliated by dropping my case. They had an associate use a random out-of-state Utah cell phone number to try and sneakily give me "oral notice" on a Friday morning for a Monday withdrawal hearing. They did this fully knowing I had severe medical issues and an appointment that exact same Monday morning, intentionally leaving me zero business days to find a new attorney.  Phil Geurts and Kristin Kirkwood have zero clue how to manage a case file and will leverage your medical vulnerabilities to cover up their own malpractice. Avoid this firm at all costs.

We waited 6 WEEKS for the police report, where the reporting officer found him "at fault" after interviewing JUST 1 witness and the driver, who said he was in the intersection. Not wanting to spend $$$ to retain a lawyer, we waited to see what kind of settlement amount the insurance would offer. We were then bullied by the insurance adjuster who convinced my fiancée that since he was found "at fault", they owed us nothing. We contacted a well-advertised billboard lawyer who told us we had "no case" because he had been found "at fault." Feeling dejected at a low moment of exasperation, my fiancée signed a settlement agreement of $10,000 as he was told "that's all you're going to get because you were found at fault." I literally got home :20 after he signed. I was furious and this let to a lot of fights between us. I found John Rajee of RMD Law on Yelp as a lot of reviews said he handled "difficult situations." He was kind and professional but also understood human nature and the whole dilemma we faced- trying to get a contract invalidated AND attempt to re-settle with the insurance company. He also advised me on different ways MY auto insurance could help even though my fiancée was on a bicycle. Although John consulted other colleagues to discover ways to secure a better settlement, ultimately nothing could be legally done to get the settlement contract negated :( Unfortunately, my fiancée and I had to move forward with accepting the circumstance. Through all these developments, John kept advising us and was professional and thorough. He advised me as an experienced counselor and also just an honest guy who took the time to reassure me that basically it wasn't the end of the world. Frankly, I was very very angry with my fiancée over his moronic decision to sign, and speaking to John just honestly helped me move past my anger and put the whole bad situation behind me. I would absolutely recommend John and his colleagues to anyone seeking legal advisement, and I will definitely refer him to friends and family. Even if you just need an answer or two, PLEASE contact RMD before signing anything, taking action, or accepting offers. They absolutely will help!

I know a lot of lawyers personally but had never had to deal with an accident lawyer and felt that most I talked to were either too aggressive, impractical or just not interested because my accident seemed small or not worthy of treatment. From the very beginning, John was open and honest about my case and gave me the guidance and direction that no one else seemed to be able to provide. I learned a lot about small claims court along the way because I had dropped the ball on my case, even if it was thru no fault of my own. John was easy to talk to and gave me the time needed. He was both practical and efficient. It was refreshing that he was available within reason and wasn't in a rush when dealing with me. Having written so many reviews on Yelp I have really learned who I can trust, and his Yelp site was honest and refreshing compared to so many billboard lawyers and even compared to friends and acquaintances! I can't tell you how much I appreciated John's help, and while my case isn't over yet, I would recommend him without hesitation to all of my friends and family.
