A one night pass is $5, weekend passes are $10! Maybe I'm too excited about these prices, but I think that they are a good deal--especially if you are in heels or don't want to get all sweaty walking, or if you dress "like" a hooker and don't want to get harassed, yet again, by the cops while on your way to the Whistlestop. This is especially great for us locals, who can walk over to 30th. But, it was really intended for those who drive to the area and can't find a place to park. The idea is to use the parking garage on 30th street in North Park, and then shuttle your heart out to various restaurants and bars in University Heights, Normal Heights, North Park and South Park. The shuttle runs the length of 30th street from Adams Ave. all the way down to Beech. It does a loop in University Heights for those who want to check out Small Bar, Lei Lounge etc. It even makes a stop at the Lafayette Hotel--hello Red Fox Room and Gilly's!!! The driver of Bus 2602 refused service to a homeless man in a wheelchair who cannot speak or walk. This man has been seen daily for nearly two weeks--he is peaceful, clean, and causes no harm to anyone. The driver flat out denied him access and left him stranded -- fully visible to everyone on the bus. This is a clear violation of ADA law, civil rights, and basic human decency. To make matters worse, the driver is operating the bus at freezing temperatures with no regard for the passengers who are shivering, while he sits isolated in his personal climate bubble. He has absolutely no care or concern for public comfort or dignity. This driver should be immediately terminated and investigated for discrimination and failure to follow MTS policy and federal ADA regulations. His behavior reflects poorly on the entire MTS system. Complaint filed: Ref# 427-397-841 Formal Complaint to San Diego MTS (For Internal Submission) Subject: ADA Violation, Driver Misconduct - Bus 2602 (June 13, 2025) To MTS Management, I am submitting a formal report regarding a disturbing incident that occurred on Bus 2602. The operator refused boarding to a disabled, non-verbal man in a wheelchair who has been peacefully present in this area for weeks. He does not pose any threat, is clean, and has previously ridden the bus without issue. The driver violated ADA regulations by denying him public transit access and left him stranded at the stop. This is not only illegal, it is inhumane. Furthermore, the driver has the bus climate system set at dangerously cold levels, ignoring repeated discomfort expressed by passengers. His disregard for both public service and public safety demonstrates a complete failure of duty. Immediate termination and investigation are warranted. The many trips that I have taken to see the many stations and to catch the busses that you may need to go to the Zion Hospital and the many major medical offices in the area near Grantville. The Grantville Station is located over near the many hotels and the car dealerships with the bus#88 and the bus #13 that takes you over to the areas of the Camino Del Rio south and the Old Town Trolley Station. With the Bus #13 that services the many areas of the National City 24th street trolley center which connects with the Euclid Transit and trolley Center. Grantville is one of the oldest communities in San Diego and the State of Calif the first European settlement that was organized in the year 1769. Opened in July 2005 as part of the Mission Valley East extension, it is one stop east of the only underground station in the system at SDSU Transit Center. The station serves the Alvarado Medical Center, which is across the street from the station. There is not very much to see or do around this station, but a unique and noticable feature of the station is a riddle engraved into the tiles on the wall that separates the station from Interstate 8 freeway. The riddle is more conspicuous when standing on the eastbound platform. Roman De Salvo created this public art installation in 2005. The riddle can possibly entice transit riders into looking around for its answer while waiting for a train to pull into the station. The answer to the riddle is found on a handrail at the east end of the station, engraved in Braille. Although there is limited street parking around the station, there is no transit parking at the site. Parking is available at 70th Street Station, which is the next station east of this station.
