A missing light bulb in the bathroom made it kind of dark in there.

I am another one who had a terrible experience at this hotel. I am frankly surprised that the pictures on Yelp make the rooms look beautiful. I think that only half the rooms (the larger rooms on the top floor) are nice but the rooms on the bottom floor are absolutely disgusting!! We had several issues with this hotel. Granted, they are very nice people and sweet, but they are not very bright, not trained well at all, guarantee a room but when you get there they give you a different room and tell you that the room you booked got filled (well why did you guarantee us the room in the first place? Downright sleazy or totally incompetent!). We were promised a large double queen room but what they gave us was a very small room with only one queen bed in the dark dingy ground floor that was dirty and depressing to be in. That messed up our plans big time because our son was going to stay with us. When we complained, they tried to lie their way out of it but at least they did the right thing and adjusted the charges. But they wouldn't have done that if we hadn't complained and pointed out how much at fault they were. The room was disgusting. There were some electrical code violations such as no cover plate over a light switch. One of the throw pillows actually was torn and had stuffing coming out of it! It also felt filmy and dirty like it had never been washed in years, or had rolled in dirt. The fixtures in the bathroom were about to fall off the wall, and the toilet paper holder was put on the wall crooked, LOL! To top all of that off, we actually had a power outage in our room! It was our room only and not the rest of the hotel. At least they had enough brains to check the fuse box and were able to get the electricity back on in our room. We will never consider this hotel again. I very rarely write negative reviews if at all. But I couldn't let this one go because of all the things that went wrong that could've been avoided.

Subject to update: We booked through Hotels.com, we requested cancellation. The hotel let us know to cancel hotels.com as they couldn't process it. After discussing with Hotels.com, they reached out to the hotel while keeping me on hold and then confirmed the hotel would not charge my card on file, and that it had not been charged to date, May 14th, 2025. As of May 16th, my card on file was charged. I contacted Hotels.com in which they confirmed the hotel mistakenly charged my card and agreed to refund that amount. Here we are May 28th, the hotel has not refunded my card and let us know it was our own error due to cancelation not being within their allowed period. However reminder to all consumers: WHEN a business agrees to refunds, verbally or in writing. They shall uphold the verbal agreement. Instead PCH Santa Barbara, has claimed employees had no authorization to agree to a refund, and that they would not be refunding us for the full charge. They have made no attempt to refund it without me furnishing proof that they agreed to it. So I have.

I stayed one night here for a quick getaway to SB. I received a couple of emails a day before welcoming me and if there was anything I needed. I requested a room on the 2nd floor which was accommodated. The day I was to arrive, they texted me to ask when I was arriving so they could get the room ready which I thought was a nice touch. When I arrived, I was checked in quickly and the gal was very friendly and very helpful. She did advise that there was construction going on and the water was going to be turned off for a while and didn't really know for how long. That would have been nice to know beforehand but not a huge deal. The room was super cute, had a beachy decor and was very clean. There was a paper on the bed explaining everything about the hotel that I needed to know along with a chocolate. Very nice touch. The hotel is in a great location, it's in a residential area and literally a couple of blocks to the beach. There is a nice grocery store within walking distance and also East Beach Tacos. There are ice & vending machines also. The pool area is nice with loungers, umbrellas and table & chairs. Unfortunately, the pool was very dirty with leaves from some recent weather but was unusable during my stay, which was a disappointment. The following morning, the pool person was there to clean it though. I would definitely stay here again when in SB.

Massive wine fridge. No bottle opener.

They have a garage that opens around 8 or 9 AM (they don't open it too early because the garage door is loud for guests) and has free stuff for you to use including beach cruiser bikes, beach lounge chairs, towels, beach toys, umbrellas, and more. The lobby has snacks (granola bars, bananas, orange, etc) that were accessible during their hours (they close at 9) as well as a water machine from which you can fill your aluminum water bottles from your hotel room. I liked how they didn't use plastic trash bags, no plastic bottles, and no plastic soap containers. It seemed that they were really eco-friendly. We interacted with 3 hotel staff members and all were helpful and friendly. They gave us a list of kid-centric things to do. We stayed in unit 8 which had a queen bed and a living room as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen had everything we needed and the tools were clean, new and orderly. The unit was clean as well. The palm trees in the middle of the parking lot are nicely lit at nice. The water pressure in the bathroom was super strong. I liked that the bathroom had a window as well as the kitchen. Some rooms have a small patio door in the back. From our kitchen window we could see plants and flowers. Outside of our room there were cute tables with lots of flowers as well. It's a great location and walking distance to the beach. The bad: We accidentally went a few blocks down from here to Harbor View Inn first and then realized our mistake. Two different hotels! The bathroom is on the small side. The interesting: The parking lot is small so they don't allow big trucks/vans. If you check-out before 7:30 am (like we did) then you will leave your keys in the mailbox out front by their office.

It is not, however, somewhere I would personally recommend unless you are mainly looking for a place to crash. We booked a room over the phone the same day we arrived and were happy to receive a discount, which brought the total to just over $300 after fees. Having been away from Santa Barbara for many years, we were excited to have a restful and celebratory evening and trusted the internet's recommendation of this place. The service was nice enough when we arrived, but the lack of amenities and the quality of the bed and pillows were a real letdown. I wish I had called the other hotels nearby to ask about their rates before committing, but we were on a road trip and didn't have the patience. Our room was modern and clean, but it faced and was right above aneighboring parking lot, and that combined with the street noise, was not especially conducive to rest. The AC unit also made a remarkable amount of noise. It did not bother me too much, but for light sleepers it could be a challenge. The best parts were the exterior, which feels very Santa Barbara, the free parking, and the complimentary pastries at breakfast. That said, there are several inns and hotels around the same rate, or sometimes only $50-$80 more after fees and parking, that offer on-property bars, restaurants, pools, and amenities I had assumed were fairly standard at a $300-a-night inn or hotel, including things as simple as Q-tips and comfortable pillows, and bathroom doors which actually insulate your private moments from the rest of the room. We should have done more research beforehand and noticed that this place did not have a pool or any facilities beyond a vending machine. However, it appeared in online results alongside full-service hotels rather than motels, so I expected a little more. My primary complaint is the bed and pillows. The pillows were barely more than bags filled with an extremely lightweight, shapeless foam material, and the mattress sank so deeply that the bed felt more like a nice pull-out couch than a proper hotel bed. The pillows reminded me of what I bought at Target for $11 before moving into my college dorm room. Fine in a motel for $150/ night, disappointing for twice that. The free parking seems to be a major draw, and it is certainly convenient, but I would still encourage people to explore other options if they have an extra $50-$80 to spend and care about the quality of the room where they spend the night. With one exception, the nearest restaurants and bars are about a 10-15-minute walk away. State Street is at least a 12-minute, 0.6-mile walk, while many other inns and hotels in the area have bars and food on the property or immediately nearby. The beach is technically one block away, although this property is toward the far end of it rather than near the main activity. We ended up ubering from state street back to the hotel. I think that if you are traveling with children, do not need many hotel amenities, or are really just looking for somewhere clean and convenient to sleep, this is a perfectly fine spot. I also should have done more research beforehand, and I cannot blame the property for amenities it never claimed to offer. Still, I do think its surprisingly glowing online reputation creates expectations that the actual experience does not truly meet. In my opinion i would describe this place as a nice, well-kept two-star inn /motel, and if that is what you are looking for, it could be a lovely choice. Many other guests were happy and that is certainly worth something.

We were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. The room location was very quite, no noise issues. Plenty of room in the living room, bathroom and bedroom, a lot of charm. The rooms seem very clean and well equipped with a mini refrigerator Nespresso machine and robes. The only item missing oddly in the rooms are hotel luggage racks. We went up to the roof to see the pool, looked nice, it was empty due to the cooler weather temps in Santa Barbara during our stay. We did enjoy the "Wine Happy Hour" and the complementary Coffee station in the morning. There are ice machines on every floor and on the ice machine you can also get filter water for your water bottles. To note: it is a dog loving paradise at the hotel, dogs everywhere, big dogs little dogs, I love dogs so I had fun watching all of them. OK, so our only 2 criticisms are is the fee for parking per day $55... crazy! The second criticism is why can't the hotel spare space for a small gym? The hotel is affiliated with a Free 24 hour gym, "Key 2 Gym" which worked out great, BUT it's a 16 minute walk... a 1.07miles. Might not seem much, but I work out daily at 5:00AM to get it out of the way. Walking on State Street at 4:45 AM in the dark, when the only people on the street are the aggressive homeless does not make me feel safe at all. Other than those 2 items, we loved our stay!

Kimpton hotels are very pet friendly and that always gets extra stars from me. They don't charge any pet fee or have size restrictions and if you ask them, they will provide food and water bowls for your stay. As someone who always travels with her dog, that adds a lot of value for me. This location even told me that, while I couldn't bring the dog to the restaurant on site, I could bring her to the nightly wine reception. I did not ever end up attending one but it's the thought that counts. The location was great. It was about a 15-minute walk to beach and we did walk to Stearns Wharf multiple times during our stay. It typically took us about 10 minutes to walk to one of the many restaurants in the area that we had decided to go to each time. There are lots of coffee shops, wine bars and places to eat within walking distance so we ended up leaving our car parked for most of our stay. I believe the valet parking was an additional $50 or $60 a night but you do get in and out privileges. We just found that we didn't need the car much to get around on our visit and in the time it takes to have somebody pull it out for you, you could have already walked halfway to your destination. The amenities are nice. They have a rooftop pool, fitness center and then their complimentary coffee, etc. I did not end up taking advantage of any of those because I travel with my dog, so I can't speak directly to the quality of any of them, but I know most people appreciate having extras like that. Our room was cute and comfortable and felt very cozy. It was honestly probably smaller than I expected for the price point, but it had everything that we needed and I was happy with my stay. If you need a pet friendly, walkable place to stay, and you aren't on a super tight budget, I would definitely recommend looking into this hotel.

The bed was very comfortable, the evening wine and cheese service was a nice touch, and the continental breakfast had a decent selection of pastries. There is a pretty courtyard in the front with comfortable outdoor furniture. Also, the room we had included a little kitchen with a stove and full fridge. CONS- Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the positives. The room had a damp, musty smell and the towels were rough and uncomfortable. The biggest issue was that the hotel was renovating the room directly next to ours. We endured CONSTANT construction noise and workers yelling throughout the day, and it continued well into the evening. My husband and I brought the issue to the attention of the front desk three separate times, both to daytime and evening attendants. Each time we were told, "I'll let the manager know." Unfortunately, we never heard from the manager, no one followed up with us, and nothing was done to address the situation. The noise continued for all the days we were here. We were not offered another room, an apology, or any form of compensation. Even a simple gesture, such as a complimentary bottle of wine, would have shown that the hotel cared about our experience, but nothing at all was offered. In fact we were told by the female evening attendant to "Contact your booking agency to complain". To make matters worse, one of the reasons we booked this hotel was the advertised back patio, but it was not accessible during our stay. If an advertised amenity is unavailable, guests should be informed before booking. If a hotel is undergoing renovations, guests should either be notified in advance or not placed directly next to active construction. Between the constant noise, the musty room, the unavailable amenity, and the complete lack of customer service and follow-through, this stay fell far below expectations. Truthfully, we would have stayed here again if the manager or staff showed any kind of care for the situation. I cannot recommend staying here.

Perfect anniversary stay -- peaceful, friendly, and right on the beach…read more We stayed at Santa Barbara Inn for our 25th anniversary and paid for the beachside view. It was absolutely worth it. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, and what really stood out was their text-based concierge system. They text you before arrival, and you can ask for anything during your stay -- they respond quickly and clearly. Honestly, that alone made the stay feel effortless. They even had the car ready before we got downstairs. It felt like having a pocket concierge. The view was fantastic, noise levels were low, and the beach is literally across the street, right at a crosswalk. We spent a lot of time on the balcony -- the room was large, the patio was generously sized, and we loved reading out there with the sounds of birds and seals in the background. Beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had great water pressure, and the jetted tub was basically a sauna -- a huge plus after walking all day. Free water bottles in the room were also appreciated. We ate at Convivo onsite -- it was fine, solid food, but a bit pedestrian flavor-wise. That said, there are so many excellent places to eat in Santa Barbara, and we walked to several without any trouble. Very walkable area for both beach time and dining. For car lovers: there's constant classic car and hot rod cruising along the beach, which was fun to watch from the balcony. It's not cheap, but it's reasonable for the location, room size, and level of service. The hotel breakfast restaurant is $33 for the buffet with just hotel pans of food, birds in the area, and children touching pastries and putting them back. The $40/night resort fee is totally unjustified: one small crowded pool filled with loud kids; 1 bike rental for the whole stay via their vendor, so unless you go by yourself there goes more money; the rest is even more meaningless, just up your rates if you want more money. In the room, the beds are really lumpy and the mattresses are showing age. I had an "upgraded" room with a balcony of a view of...someone else's balcony. The wifi only really worked in the front half of the room, and beware of accessibility as some rooms are stairs-only. Just don't stay here? I was with my dad and he is Hilton Diamond Lifetime and he said they should re-do it.

It took quite some time to get through check in as both employees were very slow and the process appeared to be outdated and inefficient. After check in we went to the Set restaurant for a bite to eat while we waited for our room to become available. We waited at the restaurant check in while several employees walked by ignoring us for several minutes. Eventually one of the employees who had walked by us a couple of times finally showed us to a table. We were at the table for over 6 minutes before contacted by our server (she was very pleasant). We noticed a charge to our credit card of approximately $200 more than our stated total. I assumed this was a security deposit. I attempted to phone the front desk, on several occasions however the AI attendant continued to advise that all front desk personnel were busy helping other guests and AI could help. When I advised AI what I needed they attempted to send me to accounting or finance, not sure which but there was no answer. The following day I went to the front desk in person to ask about the $200. When I entered the lobby I was first in line and three employees were helping other guests. When the first employee finished she stared at her computer for a minute or two, looked up at me and walked into the back room. A second employee then finished with his guest (now there were three other guests besides myself in line) and he too ignored us all and walked into the back room. About 7 minutes later the first employee returned and assisted me. When I inquired as to the $200 increase on the credit card and mentioned could it be the deposit, she said they charge $150 a night (we were staying 2 nights) so the charge should be an extra $300 that will eventually come off the bill. When I asked why it shows up on your invoice as $200, she couldn't say. I asked if I could check my room bill from the tv in our room, she said no. We then went to the Set restaurant for dessert. When we arrived there were about 7 people at the bar and 6 parties total at the various tables inside and out. Guessing about 20% occupancy. After 3-4 minutes the hostess came up and asked how many in our party (3) she said the servers told her they were backed up and to hold any new customers for 10 minutes. We told her we were here just for dessert. She checked with the servers again and they told her we still had to wait. After approximately 8 minutes we were seated. Housekeeping has been fantastic. However, the Set restaurant and Front desk staff did not deliver. For a four star property the customer service was atrocious and very disappointing. No communication from the front desk, you can't make eye contact with a customer then leave the room with speaking. The restaurant crew was more concerned with the group at the bar and engaging with them than assisting other customers.

4.5/5 stars! Stayed for a quick weekend getaway at the start of summer and had a great time…read more Stayed in room 314 Pros: - GREAT location. Literally around the corner was State Street which is full of restaurants and ships. A nice 15 min walk to the pier - Room 314 had beautiful huge windows that overlooked the street - Staff are all very friendly and professional - Cute outdoor balcony/patio area on the 2nd floor, right off the elevator. Nice comfy outdoor couches, chairs, tables. Shaded and cool. It was a great spot for a quick afternoon drink, or if you need to do some work. We were the only ones there both times we went during the weekend - Lobby was small but very cute - Free bikes for rent (see picture)? DTSB is very bike friendly so it was a great way to get around - Valet used a text service (scan the QR code on your ticket to text the valet to bring your car around), so minimal wait time - Room had a really nice sized drink fridge. I was able to put in an entire pizza box - 2 sinks - Keurig coffee machine in room - Smart TV, I was able to sign into my streaming services - Lobby has a small bar that served coffee and continental brekkie for a fee - Relatively quiet on the 3rd floor. My room was right off the elevator and you could definitely hear some people walking to and from, but honestly pretty quiet. The ice machine was across the hall and that could be noisy but I only heard 1 person getting ice my entire stay Cons: - I can only speak for the room I booked 314, but the shower was a stall with the dreaded flappy shower curtain. If you're uncoordinated (like me) or big and tall, you will definitely feel the slap of that wet curtain on your body while showering - So the showerhead was actually leaking, spraying water above the showerhead onto the ceiling. It not worth my complaining or changing rooms, so I never said anything, but the last morning, before I checked out, it miraculously stopped spraying water. - If you're sensitive to city noises I suggest opting for a room that overlooks the hotels parking lot, away from the street. Our room faced the street right above corner on State Street and Haley, and even being on the 3rd floor, we definitely heard some night life noises - Expensive! This was on the pricey side but, due to location. I thought it was definitely worth it - The hotel is definitely older, but they worked hard to renovate it. It's not just a motel with a facelift - No pool, but the beach is just a 15 min walk away Tips: - Definitely sign up for the Hilton honors app, it'll make it easy to check in and you can pick your own room, get room key access, and check out, etc Would I come again? Yes

But it is a nice and clean Tapestry boutique hotel with comfortable beds and spacious bathroom. The common areas are limited, but very nicely put together. The one downfall of this hotel is breakfast. This hotel gives you the option of points or credit toward breakfast. Definitely take the points. One morning there was only 1 person working breakfast and she could not handle working the floor, the second day I guess the breakfast staff called in sick, because they were closed. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes just down the block from the hotel. So, just don't go into the expectation that there is a restaurant at this hotel.
