Nikki gave me a quick estimate for the job using my own fabric. The chair didn't originally have a skirt, but I requested that one be added and I am so thrilled with the results. In Feb. 2022, I brought four dining table seat cushions to be reupholstered in leather. The shop/showroom is very cramped and cluttered. Al, the proprietor, quoted $450 just for the leather, saying that leather comes in fixed sizes that must be purchased whole, even if it is more material than needed. The labor was an additional $280. He asked for payment in cash, a bad sign that I should have heeded. He promised the cushions in three weeks. After eight weeks and many phone calls, most of which were not returned, the cushions were ready for pickup. I am satisfied with the work, but it not with the price or the service. I should have gotten more estimates before agreeing to the work. I am still waiting for Al to provide me with the additional leather that I paid for but was not needed for the job. As a lawyer, I am tempted to sue. I would never do business with the firm again. read more

The work done was good, but they gave me the estimate of 2 weeks. That was June 10th. It is October 20th and after showing up time and time again and having no one be there, calling and leaving messages, I finally had my friend call to make sure they weren't just blocking my calls! They said they were there so I went in and there was my chair. It was repaired nicely, but the owner didn't even apologize at all for making me wait 4 and a half months, nor did he offer me a discount. Very unhappy with the customer service. I had put a down payment on it so I was getting close to reporting them to the better business bureau. Good thing my friend had the idea of calling and saved their butts.. read more

He rebuilt my couch and turned it into a completely different style, using only a picture I had given him. The results were amazing. He turned a love seat into two chairs. He's made outdoor furniture cushions in a custom size I couldn't buy ready made. He has refinished several pieces of furniture, helping me to re-purpose them. Jay Bee did a fantastic job refinishing three old but good wonderful pieces of furniture:,a dresser at least 5' tall and two living room end tables, given to us by my parents many years ago. While only delivered yesterday, they all look as they must have brand new! The wait may have been a month or so, but they had us come by to finalize the colors; it was waiting time well spent for the excellent results! Plus pick up and delivery were much appreciated! My experience with this upholstery shop has been great! I have used them several times, for different kinds of work. They have reupholstered and reconditioned several mid-century pieces for me, as well as a traditional set of French early 19th century camelback dining chairs. All were gorgeous, and done on time! Al worked with me to choose from his insane collection of fabrics, and choose the best quality for the best price for my budget. He went above and beyond the call of duty to pick up and deliver pieces. One trip he even came out to a creepy storage space when it was dark and rainy! I recommended him to my neighbor when she needed two big armchairs with ottomans recovered. She had the same positive experience, and the chairs look fantastic. Yes - you do need to follow up with them sometimes. They are very old world, and will not nag you about your stuff. This isn't a bad thing - for example, when we were having work done on our place, Al was happy to store some pieces until I needed them. Are they cheap? No. A lot also depends on the cost of materials, and how complicated the job is. But that's true of all upholstery shops. As far as I am aware, The hours posted for the Walnut Street shop are good - I've never not found someone there. But, I call ahead just to make sure. read more

I was waiting and waiting and waiting for 2 hours , and this person NEVER show up nor ring a phone call !!! So unprofessional. I would rather go with different company !!! read more

The work done on my sofa was good quality. BUT . . . I specifically asked for new legs, soft cushions, and no skirt. After NINE weeks of waiting (2-3 weeks had been promised), the big day arrived for the sofa to be returned, and . . . . it had the old legs, hard cushions, and a skirt. I asked if he had forgotten what I wanted, and he said he hadn't, but he thought his way was better. Then he had the nerve to be unhappy with ME because I was upset about the sofa. He did offer to re-do the work. I said no for two reasons: I didn't trust him anymore, and it had already taken them 9 weeks to do the work. The sofa looks good to the eye, but it's not at all what I had asked for, and it's no longer comfortable for naps. read more
