I had called other places, left messages, and not heard back. Which made me put off seeing the dentist even more. But the customer service here is top tier. Everyone is so friendly and professional. Dr. Palola's office in Waipio is located on the second floor, near the Waipio Costco next to the Starbucks. The office is clean and actually kinda stylish. I like the archways in the office and I was given a brief tour when I came in, which I liked because knowing my surroundings helps put me at ease. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, they had a comfort menu with everything from blankets to a t.v. screen with Netflix. I only wish that I didn't procrastinate and made an appointment to see Dr. Palola sooner.

I have been having some issues with finding a temporary solution to help me get through this phase before I get my implants done and then I met with Dr. Fukuda she took the time to explain and tell me what she can do to give me the temporary solution and saved me from spending more than I needed to, all I wanted was my smile back so I can face the world and join the land of the living. I want to say to anyone that is having a difficult time finding a great dentist look no further Dr. Fukuda is awesome I have always been afraid of the dentist but anyone who can stab you with a needle for numbing and you cannot feel any pain deserves to be given dentist of the year award and if thy don't have such a thing thy should create one !!!

My 19- year old daughter went to Dr. Pamaplon on a referral from her pediatric dentist. She needed all 4 wisdom to be removed. Trying to make an appointment was difficult. Took one full day for someone to call me back and schedule an appointment. Nevertheless I brushed it off. No biggie. Day came for the procedure and the receptionist/front girl was a little sassy but that was also fine and we were unbothered. Gave us 4 pages, front and back, to fill out. 10 minutes later after filling everything out, we went in. Doctor gave us the breakdown of the procedure. Asked us what type of numbing we wanted, laughing gas or anesthesia. We opted for laughing gas. She did not fast for 8 hours. My daughter stayed in the room and I left to the waiting room which is about the size of a 12x12 room. Nurse peeked in and whispered something to the front girl. The front girl made a comment "we can always change our minds..." then called me over and said since I changed the type of numbing the cost is more for the procedure. That's not a problem. But she still felt the need to make a comment about "us changing our minds". Procedure was quick, that was great. The worst part was the numbing she said. Everything was fine after that. About a week later, my daughter was having pain on one side. Tried calling all morning 8-12 and no response. I told her to walk in and talk to the front girl to make an appointment since no one was answering the phone. They told her she had to wait as a "walk in". They ended up getting her an appointment for the following day at 2pm. 2pm comes the following day, Dr.Pampalon did the numbing (injections) and pain which was expected. Then he proceeded to dig into her gums, scraping gum tissue. She could feel ALL of it. He didn't care, didn't ask if she was ok, didn't ask if it hurt. She was kicking her feet while tears ran down her face. She made every indication she was in pain and he SAID NOTHING TO HER. When he was done he walked out, rushed out the door as though he was late for his next victim. His assistant looked at my daughter and asked if the pain was from the numbing. My daughter replied "no! It was from him scraping my gums! I could feel all of it!" She calmly said "oh ya we had to get all the tissue in case it was infected". NO APOLOGIES, NO CONSIDERATION! She had tears running down her face! Bawling. Dr. Pampalon was so unprofessional and insensitive and didn't have any human dignity. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. I'm ashamed and feel like a terrible mother for sending her there and not being there when this happened. Think twice before booking your oral procedures here.

I will preface that I retired from the medical community after 20 years of service. I'm disappointed to see that patient care and customer service are not a priority in this office. I scheduled an appointment two weeks ago. I had to take 4 hours off to come to my dental appointment and to put it in perspective my wage for 4 hours is $160. First off, I did not receive an appointment reminder. I looked on the website an hour and a half before my appointment time to confirm my own appointment because the website lists they are closed on Friday's. Receptionist states they were open and I let her know that the website says differently. Secondly, I arrive at the dentist office "on time." Finally, Surprise. Surprise. Door locked. I called the office --once again -- because I did not realize there are two locations in Waipahu. It would be nice if there was a note on the door or the appointment clerk directed new patients to the correct office in advance. I will not be using this office for my families dental care needs.

I don't normally give a business poor ratings and it took me a while to decide if I should leave…read moreone but I do feel like there is value in knowing what small businesses are doing especially if people feel like they are lacking integrity. I moved back to Hawaii several years back and this place was recommended to me. I know I take good care of my teeth so when I got the comment after my cleaning was "wow, no cavities, that's unusual." As if they were expecting cavities. However, after that, he did tell me that my gums were in the condition of pre-gingivitis and recommended a deep cleaning. That was weird to me so as I got more intentional about flossing and I did the deep cleaning procedure. However, after that one session, he recommended another deep cleaning just a month or so after. It already cost me several hundred dollars because my insurance didn't cover a portion of it. I don't know how often you're supposed to get a deep cleaning but that all didn't settle right with me. I decided to go to another dentist, the one from my youth, for a second opinion, and let her examine my teeth & gums. I didn't tell her anything about pre-gingivitis or my previous exam. She told me my teeth and gums were normal! I then asked her if it may have been because I got a deep cleaning. And she said no, that wouldn't have helped the condition of my gums. She said there are a lot of dentists out there recommending unnecessary deep cleanings and root canals for the additional money. These procedures require some sort of additional anesthesia or additional numbing drugs that rack up the bill. It was crazy to be made aware of such business practices that are not in the best interest of the patient. The staff of this place is quite friendly which is why I'm not giving them one star. I did notice they were pretty persistent in calling me for my next deep cleaning appointment, too. I never mean to bash a small business but this was my experience and I thought it should be shared in case it could help someone else. Especially if they feel something is not right in their gut or if recommendations from a dentist don't sit well.
