This is a negative review about Artworld. I am a former customer who spent many thousands of…read moredollars with them in years past, but that will never happen again. I left some paintings with them when I was in Victoria a few months ago, but an employee (Andrew), clearly didn't like me and sabotaged me while I was and ensured I wouldn't get my paintings on time and forced me to leave without them. I have been trying for months to get my property returned without success and when I finally found out what was going on, they wanted to charge me $284 for shipping - on top of me paying for air shipping already. I blew my stack. Unfortunately for me, the store owner sided with the abusive employee and wouldn't give me squat, which prompted my post this morning. I tried to let it go, but I realized I was furious. A few minutes ago, I sent the following letter. +++ There are a few things that really bother me here. You are standing on store policy and saying that's why you won't help me. I'm calling rubbish on that. YOU and your family own the store. You could easily waive this policy, take responsibility for what happened and send my paintings back to me at no charge. As I said, I am not paying for shipping twice. Also by pulling the store policy thing on me, you have shown me clearly you don't give a damn about me and you have sided with your abusive employee. Whether you realize it or not, his behavior is your fault. Why? Because you and your family own the store. IMO, you have an obligation to make things right and you told me you would make it right when I saw you. But you clearly have not made it right. You are holding me hostage over my own paintings and are demanding I pay to have them shipped. That is flat out wrong in the worst way. If you really cared about me as a customer, (and you clearly do not), you would take responsibility for what happened, eat the cost of the shipping and send me my paintings. It's on a major street and not difficult to spot; there are parking spaces around the neighbourhood should you need them. At the back, there is also a wide selection of cards where you can print your own art or if you're very crafty, put something on it. I take photos throughout the year, so for me, sending Christmas cards that have​ my own art makes card-giving extra special. You'll also see a wide selection of sketch notebooks in a wide range of prices. Pens? If you want pens, boy there are lots of them - in many many different colours. I can go on and on, but I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed.

By gem, I hope I'm not giving an impression that it is small. It's spacious and has a great selection of well-curated craft supplies (quality brands) and other fun items. Not only was the frame too flimsy to be picked up from the top without bending so much that the fasteners for the picture popped out, but the wire they provided for me to string up the hanging mechanism was WAY too short. From now on, I'm choosing Amazon or other custom options here in Victoria for framing, instead of these guys. So disappointed, after years of living elsewhere and having solid, professional options for framing.

During a walkabout on Oak Bay Avenue, before heading to dinner, we stopped into several of the stores that caught our eyes. Seeing the 4CATS sidewalk sign caught my lady's eyes, and a look-see inside at the art supplies being offered was definitely in order. Wow! most everything in art supplies available in one place -- for the very beginner, the occasional 'dabbler', and on up to those pursuing serious art interests. Daughter and I watched on, as she truly-enjoyed some "quality time" browsing the offerings, and chatting with staff about their services, etc. My thanks to those at 4CATS for helping to make the day in Oak Bay such a special one.

This is just a tiny slip of a shop that sells authentic native American objects and art. It's a sort of place that's fun and small enough to allow you to examine everything they have. To boot, the owners, Gary and his wife Hannah are wonderful people. If you have the time and you're there, when Gary is manning the store, he will share knowledge and history of the Lakota Tribe. I love going in here! Last time I purchased a Lakota warrior breast plate made by Gary himself. It's just beautiful.

Just had a bizarre experience here after being a customer here for years. I started at the Tacoma…read morelocation looking for stretcher bars by the master series in 24, 36, 30, and 40s. Tacoma was out but the sweet sales associates offered to order or call Seattle. I overheard them on the phone confirming various sizes. So I thanked them & drove up to Seattle. I noticed the Seattle location didn't have the sizes I was told, I asked the guy in charge of frames/ stretchers and he claimed I asked for one size then showed me a different brand from what was confirmed over the phone, a heavy duty variety. When I expressed frustration of being told the wrong thing, he walked off pouting, didn't offer to order any for me like Tacoma did. Not wanting to leave empty handed I grabbed a couple off sizes so I can work. On my way to check out, I informed my friend of what just occured and placed the stretchers at the register. The clerk said "You need to check out over there, Sir." My flabbers were gasted! My monocle popped out! I said "Sir? I'm not a sir!". This was strange and shocking to me. So I went to the proper clerk saying "They just called me Sir. What part of me gives man? I've never been called a man." So yeah I'm mad confused as to why my petite, adorable self in pink & lilac got called a man by someone who would not appreciate being misgendered themselves.... On Pride weekend of all times. And why wasn't I offered to have the supplies ordered for me like in Tacoma? Basically I received a wild goose chase, a bad attitude, lied to about what I overheard confirmed on the phone, and casually misgendered by Seattle staff. Very sad since I prefer supporting local. The Tacoma shop is a vibe with kind, helpful staff. I'll stick with them and Jerry's Art a Rama online. Apparently several reviews report bad behavior from staff over the past year or so. Don't need the funky ahh attitude when I just wanna create.
