I had recently turned 50 and the encouragement I received from owner who was a woman of a similar "vintage" was gold. When I finally brought my board back after 4 days I felt like I had been adopted into the surfing tribe...a tribe with a rare woman surf shop owner generously opening the door. I really liked that Alex made them do as much as possible themselves. Too often, beginner lessons are just pushing people into wave.
