I was driving by this place and happened to have a few things in my car that needed tailoring, so I figured I'd give it a try. I gave her two pairs of pants-jeans that needed a ripped out belt loop reattached to a patch, and some suit pants that had ripped on the back seam due to a previous bad tailoring job. I dropped them off in the middle of the week, and she said they'd be ready by the following Monday, a few days later. I returned in the middle of the next week, and they still were not ready, she said come back later int he week, and when I did she said she forgot again and that they'd be ready the NEXT Monday. Fortunately I didn't urgently need the clothes, or this review would not be so favorable. This time, I absolutely needed them to be done since all my other suits were at the cleaners at the time. At last, she had them ready, and in fact called to confirm once they were. My return visit showed her work to be excellent. She was able to take out the previous tailor's shoddy work, actually adjusted the pants to fit me better and reinforcing the ripped seam. I haven't worn the jeans yet, but they look to be patched in a quality way that is hardly noticeable from the exterior. I will update if they fail. Four stars because even though she was late on her initial completion date, on top of the excellent work she did at quite a reasonable price ($15 total), she let me take my clothes and come back and pay another time since she forgot to tell me they were cash only during my first several visits and I really needed the suit pants when I picked them up. She is extremely nice and I think if one were to be very firm about saying they needed something by a certain date, she would probably follow through. This guy is not honest and professional, he will work on your garment without your consent and then try to charge you high price hoping you would pay or else you won't get your garment back. Here is my bad experience with him, I went to drop off my wife's dress to get 4 inches off but he said he has to run for an appointment and couldn't give me an estimate so I told him to text me the details. 3 weeks later didn't hear from him so I texted him twice asking for an update, finally he replied saying he was out of town but come pick it up on Thursday, didn't provide any details. So Thursday came and I went , when I got there he said work is already done and the cost $120 with a list how much effort he had put in. I was shocked because that cost is more then the cost of that dress! I tried to negotiate the price down but at most he would go down is $100 (still more then the dress). Of course he won't give me back the dress until I paid him so I end up walking out empty handed because my wife doesn't feel like paying that money either. I dropped off 3 pairs of pants to be shortened & hemmed. She made me pay upfront so, like a trusting dummy I tipped her up front too! She said that it would take her about 4-5 days to finish. 4-5 days passed. Finally about 2 months later, I called and pleaded to get my pants so I could take them elsewhere. With that she assured me that my pants would be finished in 2 more days and I could pick them up then. Finally, finally I had my pants. When I got my pants home, I was excited to try them on. I opened the sack she put them in and a flea jumped out on my arm. I quickly took everything out into the garage and shook them out then hurriedly inserted them into the washer. Whew! What a nightmare in the day time!! Since then, I've gained 10 pounds and can't fit into my pants. Now, let me say, this woman is nice and polite. The quality of her workmanship is good. But! gee wiz..... When I was stationed in Saigon, I took 4 pair of Kaki pants to Tudo street Grannie for alteration. She had them finished in (1) one hour!! I swear! This woman asked for me to pay her upfront for two small items (fixing a hole in a knitted hat and adding an elastic band to a pair of pants). I had a friend drive me there because I don't drive. After more than a month (probably more than two months), we went there again, and they were not ready. She apologized and said she would bring them to me on Monday at 5:00 p.m. Monday came and went and she did not show up. I called her and she gave me some excuse. I can't remember what it was. Then she said she would bring it at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. This time also came and went and she never showed up. Then, I called her and she said she was on the way to the bank and would deliver it "right now." That time, too, came and went. When I called her she was angry and talked over me. She did not listen to me. A friend drove me there again, and she was angry and said normally she doesn't deliver. I barked, "You didn't deliver these times either!" SHE HAD OFFERED BECAUSE SHE HAD NOT DONE THE WORK THAT SHE HAD MADE ME PAY FOR AHEAD OF TIME. She was very friendly at first, but her true colors came out later. PLEASE do not give this person your business. I went in to have a 4 inch by 5 inch patch removed from a leather letterman jacket and replaced with a newer patch (same size). The woman said it would be at least 25 bucks. I nicely said that it sounded a bit high, considering all patches on the entire coat (about 8 of them in all) were put on by another embroidery shop in Savoy for that price ($25). I had not wanted to drive all the way to Savoy, so I was stupidly considering paying the exorbitant fee, but she pushed the coat at me and said "you a liar - not cost $25 all patches". I was shocked. She then started yelling at me that she doesn't need any work and if I did leave the coat there it would be more than $25 and at least a week or 10 days until it was done. She again said "I no need this work." Clearly. I took the coat less than 2 blocks over to Magic Needle (SE corner of University & Neil). 5 days, 9 bucks, zero attitude. WOW. read more

I will never go there again, the lady is very nice but takes a long time to get a job done. We took in 8 blue jean pants with a few small holes to have Patched or sewn. Took us two months just to get back 4 pairs of the pants, then another month in a half to get the other 4. When we got the last 4 pair of pants not all of the holes were patched or sewn together. The patches were not even close to the same color or the jeans.She gave us a good deal on pants but not worth the time having to wait to get back our clothing. We did find other places with good prices, and guaranteed our items to be done less than a week. read more

I have had her do several jobs for me - sometimes she is super fast and sometimes it takes her a little longer - but her work is excellent! I will always take my things to her because she is not super expensive and everything is perfect when I get it back, my only complaint is sometimes it takes her longer than she thinks - but that is not a huge issue. I just got a pair of $90 BR pants ruined. The lady is seemingly sweet but she does not know what she is doing. She ruined my pants -- uneven stitching, destroyed the thick cuff completely and she boasted that BR does not know style and they kept a "thick cuff" because they don't know style. I explained that the thick cuff WAS the style and she had promised to keep the style when I left the pants with her. She said that it is not style -- BR does not know what they are doing. Not only would she not accept her mistake, she became all huffy and demanded payment. I paid her and walked out. In retrospect I should have been a lot harsher and not paid her. Don't go there for anything more than an ordinary hemming, if that. read more

I disagree with the other commenters. This seamstress' work is excellent and inexpensive! I have been bringing clothes to her to alter for at least three years now. She does take extended vacations (like for up to 8 weeks), but she's a one-woman show and deserves a break once in a while. I was highly disappointed with the hem job Pacific tailoring did for a bridesmaid dress I had. First of all, they charged me 15 dollars more than my friend who went to another Champaign shop, secondly, the hem came out during the ceremony and I was tripping on loose strings during the whole reception. When I looked down, 2 of the 3 layers were in shreds and looked like they were hemmed by a child. I was so incredibly disappointed and I want to make sure no one else has the same experience I had TRIPPING on my bridesmaid dress!! read more

The owner did a great job tailoring my suit! The fit was perfect and the suit was ready at the end of the agreed upon pick-up date.

First week of January, I took a winter coat to have a new zipper installed. She told me that she had to order the zipper and might take a couple days longer to have fix cause, the company had to get her check to clear the bank. Fine no problem and I understood. its 3 weeks and i go down there today and check on how it was coming. The coat hadn't been done to the coat, she claimed she just received the zipper today. Who knows it was true or not. I asked her it took 3 weeks to get a zipper? She got all defensive and said that she told me it could take 6 weeks or longer, which was a total lie. No time frame was giving to me, I explained to her she never did tell us how long, except could take a couple days longer because of zipper had to be made, Not really sure how true that part was. She kept telling me that she told 4-6 weeks for zipper to come in by showing me the paper she order from which was never shown. If she had told me I wouldn't been down there to day to check on it. She basically called me a lair saying she told me and she never did. Never apologized for the misunderstanding.. I'll never take my stuff to here again. So I took my coat down to another alterations shop and they fixed the slide on my zipper while i was there talking to them and cost me less than 10 dollars and less than 5 minutes to do it. read more

took a pair of jeans here to have the zipper replaced. i was out of town for a week so told them i didn't need them until afterward. when i came back the day they told me to pick them up (over a week later), they weren't ready. besides that minor annoyance and the fact that it seemed a little on the expensive side ($12 for a zipper replacement? not sure if that's the going rate or what, but it seemed pricey), she did a good job. read more
