The beach access road is on the west side of Hwy 1 immediately south of the Navarro Bridge.

There is a decent sized parking lot that includes a number of first-come, first-served camping spots next to the "temporarily closed" Captain Fletcher's Inn. The beach is open and the parking is free. Several large trees have drifted down the river and washed up on the beach, which makes for some wonderful pictures. Other than the roaring wind and the crashing ocean, it was completely peaceful. I can absolutely understand why people would want to camp here. The ocean is less intense in the cove and you can even move toward the mouth of the river where it is even calmer. If it weren't in walking distance I'm not sure how to access without an RV reservation. There is no discernible public parking outside of 3-4 one hour spaces next to the check in building.

The river is only a 5 minute boat ride to the foggy awesome that is the Pacific Ocean. My son recently purchased his first boat and he, his Dad and his Grandpa took off for just 2 hours bringin home a boat load of fish. No joke. Abalone seems to be the big thing here. Guys in wet suits everywhere. Besides RVs there were tents and some just divers in trucks with BBQs on the tailgate. Seals swam into the marina. And again too many birds to count flew overhead. Chris is the manager and he is super accomodating. There are bathrooms and a shower too. As far as "glamping" goes, this was fantastic. There was one douchy guy that lived there in a trailer that didnt like my dog but his loss cuz my dog is awesome and just wanted to say hi. Oh and almost forgot, the fish cleaning stations helped so much! (the birds like them too)

The sites have hookups for water and electricity. It's so convenient. The workers are nice and friendly. During our recent trip, we rented A2 with their trailer. The trailer has everything that you need. You just need to bring food and camping chairs and you're set. If you like to fish, bring you fishing poles. This place is awesome during crabbing season. They have so much crabs. Just make sure you have a fishing license and no one bothers you. Most people bring their boats to fish but we were just fishing/crabbing on the pier and we got a lot of crabs. We only got 2 small fish but it's ok. We had so much fun.

The best part was being able to provide on-site housing for our bridal party, so the whole weekend was affordable for our friends & family on top of us getting to maximize our time with them. The venue itself is immaculate; the effort that goes into maintaining the onsite cabins and facilities is obvious, and the surrounding forests truly make the location feel magical. It was the perfect location for our wedding, and my wife and I plan on going back to Heartwood yearly to enjoy the beautiful scenery and fantastic company. 10/10.

For partial hook up, 10% military discount, the price was around $61, and were able to pay online. We checked in late after the office had closed where they left our site info for us. The grounds are clean, quiet and luckily we had the showers/bathrooms across from us. The showers require quarters, where if $1.25 for a 4 minute shower. Both the bathrooms and showers were well maintained and clean. We checked out in the morning. We definitely recommend and would come back when passing through.

Now we know they're owned by a local vacation rental company called Pacific Blue and you can book direct! The park is well maintained with a mix of RVs, cabins and tiny homes available for nightly rentals. The RVs are spacious floor plans to accommodate families and smaller for couples or solos, and each is set up at a campsite complete with picnic table, fire ring and full hookups. The tiny homes are quaint and complete, with everything well thought out. Ours had a lot with two twin beds, tv, and room to layout suitcases. We out a pack and play up there and still had room to spare. Downstairs was a full kitchen with oven/micro/stovetop (no dishwasher), kitchen table with bench and two seats, rolling island for additional storage, living room with full size sofa, coffee table and sitting chair, and lots of windows to bring in the scene of the harbor. natural light and bay breeze. Outside we had a gas bbq, patio furniture and communal picnic tables and seating out on the pier, which we overlooked. It was serene and exciting to watch the seals and otters at play and the boats coming in and out of the harbor day and night. The view was never boring and we enjoyed every minute. I also loved that you could see out to the ocean, which looked very peaceful and calm during our stay. Best of all, you're close to several good seafood restaurants, in the heart of the charter fishing in Fort Bragg, can crab right from the pier if youre staying on property and the owners are responsive, helpful and swift to reply. It was clear they were proud of their place and wanted you to enjoy your stay. We would def recommend staying here!

In this lovely RV park, a mix of transient and permanent residents. The park's owners are great, and they maintain the place looking great. In addition to having excellent showers, the restrooms were spotless. Beautiful scenery may be found around the rear fence. The park was busier than we'd like, but that's to be expected for an RV park; the other campers were friendly, though the weekend population was louder than usual.

And camping to getaway from the heat.
